Herringbone Technique Video

I'm finally getting around to posting my video for the Herringbone Technique, which I used on the focal point of this card.  This is such a beautiful, yet easy technique to do!  My stamping club members LOVED it!

 
 
Supplies needed for the Herringbone technique, Carpet Tape (found at hardware store), strips of Designer Series Paper (I used Stampin' Up!'s Autumn Meadows from the Holiday Mini Catalog) and scissors...that's it!!

Big Shot Project: Table Setting Pumpkins and more!

With Stampin' Up!'s new Table Setting die featured in the Holiday Mini Catalog, you can create more than just items for your table.  When you think outside of the box, you can come up with lots of creative uses for it.

Here I used the swirl shape to create some darling pumpkins...

The swirl pumpkin shapes, leaves and even the stems are from the Table Setting Die.  The stems are just snips of the swirl shape cut from Chocolate Chip Cardstock.

Tour De Freaks October Blog Hop Tour!

Welcome to the October Tour de Freak tour which officially starts October 20th!  We are so excited that you have joined us today on our fifth Blog Tour.  This month we are featuring Christmas Cards!

I'm starting off with Stampin' Up!'s newest product...My Digital Studio!  I used elements from the Christmas Jingle Designer Kit, Old Saint Nick Stamp set (not in our main catalog) and Alpine Ribbon.  The first image is the digital image and the second is a photo of my printed card.

 

 

Here's another one that I did in Real Red.  Then I wondered what it would look like with the colors reversed.

 

Here they are printed out. 

 

I printed all three My Digital Studio cards on my own printer which does print border to border.  If you do want to print from your own computer, beware of the following: 

1)  The Real Red card took a LOT of my ink cartridge.  
2)  The printed color does not match Stampin' Up! Real Red. 
3)  If you want to do "hybrd" papercrafting (printing and adding "real-live" embellishment), the colors are not guaranteed to match.

Now onto my handstamped cards... 

One of my favorite new stamp sets is Autumn Days.  I love all of the different "nature" style stamps...great variety.  I was really drawn to the pinecone image.  So that is what I used for my last two cards.

I made one quick and easy, for mass producing your holiday cards.  The other card is for that very special person in your life!

Aren't they beautiful?  I so happy with the way they turned out.

Here's the quick and easy card which was inspired by a Halloween card I received from Penny at Founder's Circle.

Supplies:  Autumn Days, Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Sets, Very Vanilla cardstock, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip Markers, Old Olive 1-1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here is my "step-it-up" card...

 

Tips for the "step-it-up" card:

1)  Use sponge daubers (vs. Markers) to ink up your stamp.  This is quicker and less stress on your markers, especially when you're doing several repeat images.

2)  I used a Versamarker to add versamark ink to select places on the pinecones.  Then embossed those areas with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder (hard to see in the picture).

3)  The PEACE is from a verse that comes with the "Gifts of Christmas" stamp set.  Use a marker to ink up the word you want.  You get more use out of your stamps this way.
 
Supplies:  Autumn Days, Gifts of Christmas (for peace), Very Vanilla & Chocolate Chip cardstock, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip Ink Pads & Sponge Daubers, Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Chocolate Chip 1-1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Gold Cording, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, Word Window Punch, 1/16" punch, Versamarker, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Stampin' Dimensionals.

DOstamperSTARS Meeting: Delightful Decorations & Holiday Windows Trick

We welcomed some new members at our DOstamperSTARS meeting last month.  Here is Pixie (in the middle) with her two new STARS, Roseann and Ann...Welcome!

Here's another Make & Take we did.  I received a smiliar card at Founder's Circle.  I really like the ornament "double die-cut" trick.  It's actually very easy to do!

DOstamperSTARS Meeting: Berry Christmas

Of course - one of the fun things to do at anyDOstamperSTARS meeting is STAMPING.  This month the focus was the Holiday Mini Catalog - easy to pick fun projects to do!!

Crystal Glitter: Boo Boxes and Spooky card

At my last DOstamperSTARS meeting we had several people volunteer to demonstrate some fun ideas.  I videotaped everyone's presentation (for our DOstamperSTARS video blog), but only got pictures of Jan's projects.  What was I thinking?  I'll have to do better next time.

Today I'm sharing Jan's projects.  She showed us how to use Crystal Effects and Cosmo Fine Glitter to create some awesome BLING!

Very Thankful: Turtle Card

Here's the last card from my Very Thankful Stamp-a-Stack.  For this card...I was inspired by a candy holder made by Julie Davidson.  I liked how she decorated the front of the holder, so I turned it into a card.

Supplies used:  Very Thankful, Family Phrases, Rose Red, Old Olive, Certainly Celery cardstock & markers, Basic Black ink, Scallop Edge Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Stampin' Up! Background 1 Texturz Plate, Big Shot, Old Olive 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

DOstamping QUICK TIP:
For stamps that combine an image and greeting in one stamp...cut off the greeting and mount it on the side of the same stamp (as shown below).  This makes your stamps so much more versatile!  (That's the beauty of mounting your own stamps)

DOdesigner Gayle: Wedding Sweet Card & Fancy Favor Box

Today's project is brought to you by my downline and friend Gayle!  OK, here's the dirt on Gayle...oops, I don't have any dirt on Gayle. 

Gayle has been a GREAT addition to my DOstamperSTARS team.  She's kind of the heart of our group.  That kindred spirit soul.  I know when she reads this, she will dismiss it.  But it's true - everyone loves Gayle.  She's witty and kind, humorous and charming, and is always willing to help. 

On to her projects...
Gayle selected the WEDDING COLLECTION.  Which was the perfect choice for her since her son got married last month.

The box is made from the Groom Specialty Designer Series Paper and the NEW Stampin' Up! Fancy Favor Die.  The card is silver embossed using an image from the NEW Wedding Sweet Stamp Set.

DOdesigner Shelley: Autumn Days Card and Composition Book

Before I share today's project, I want to tell you a little bit about Shelley. She's what I call a Stampin' Up! Preferred Buyer.  What's that?  Well, basically that is what most people refer to as a Hobby Demonstrator...but who wants to be called that?  Preferred Buyer makes you sound like someone special and she is (as is all of the Preferred Buyers on my DOstamperSTARS team).

What makes Shelly even more special is her charming personality and the permanant SMILE she has on her face.  She is such a happy, delightful person.  I'm so pleased that Shelley joined my group last year. She makes me happy everytime she walks into the room.  PLUS...yes, there's more...she's an awesome cook!  She brings the most wonderful desserts to our meetings. 

Well...on to her fabulous 3-D project with matching card.  She picked the AUTUMN COLLECTION and used the Autumn Days stamp set.  I just LOVE this composition book that she made.  Didn't she do a fabulous job?!

Very Thankful: Peacock & Quick Tip Video

Each year Stampin' Up! designs an exclusive stamp set to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charites (RMHC).  This year's stamp set is called Very Thankful (#115338, $14.95) and comes with 4 images.  They've done a great job creating a versatile stamp set.  Plus with every set sold, Stampin' Up! donates $2 to the RMHC (read more about it here)!

Last month I held a Very Thankful Stamp-a-Stack event featuring the Very Thankful stamp set.  Each person received their very own set.  Plus, they stamped 3 of 4 cards... one design for each of the images.  They kept 8 cards and donated 4 cards to the RMHC!  It was a really fun camp.  A few people purchased my "to go" kit option and I wanted to share with them a quick and easy technique used on the Peacock card.

 

First off...I have to say, I totally cased the the color and layout of the Peacock card.  Though - I wasn't sure how they created the Peacock coloring, so I just winged it and used a quick sponging technique to create the mutilcolored look on the peacock.  Plus, I added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter...just because I thought it needed it - LOL!

DOdesigner Jan: From the Crypt Coffin & Card

Last month a few of my DOstamperSTARS did a 3-D Project exchange.  Boy - there were some awesome projects.  I really have talented crafters on my team!

Today I'm sharing Jan's project (which also matched her swap exchange card) - clever girl!  The theme for our swap was Stampin' Up! Collections.  Have you noticed several collections in the current Stampin' Up! catalog?  I love these collections!  Jan selected the HALLOWEEN COLLECTION and used From the Crypt for her projects below.

I believed she used a blender pen with Whisper White Craft Ink to color in the skulls - love it!  This is her "small" coffin.  She's sharing both the large and small coffin patterns on her new blog here:  Stampin With Jan - Coffin Templates 

Jan has really grown this past year as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  I really appreciate her taking on more of a leader position with our group.  At our DOstamperSTARS meeting last week, she demonstrated a cool BLING effect that I videotaped for our DOstamperSTARS video blog.  She always volunteers to help - which I sooo appreciate!  Thanks for all you do Jan!

DOdesign: Laurie's Twick or Tweet Fuzzy Card

Here's a darling fuzzy bird card that my friend and downline Laurie sent me.  Ain't it cute!  She used Stampin' Up!'s Twick or Tweet stamp set from the Holiday Mini catalog.  Laurie's kind of the "NUT" of our group - so this is a perfect image for her!!
