Welcome to the August 2010 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today, This month, I'm the 6th stop on the tour featuring projects made with products from Stampin' Up!'s upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog (available 9/1/10). Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from my good friend Gretchen Barron - welcome!
One of my favorite Holiday Mini Catalog products is a new Embossing Folder called Northern Flurry. So I knew I had to use it on both of today's projects.
First up is a fun holiday card using the new stamp set Jolly Old Saint Nick. I totally fell in love with the Santa image. It doesn't require much coloring, so it really could be a fast and easy card to duplicate if you need to mass produce your handmade cards for the upcoming holidays.
And look what else I used...Basic Glimmer Brads and Silver Tinsel Trim "ribbon". Oh my gosh - I have totally fallin' in love with both of these products. I wasn't sure about the Tinsel Trim. But it's SO cool...you are just gonna have to have it. It looks and feels just like tinsel. It comes on a spool and is actual a very thin wire with tinsel on it. So it's pliable and easy to work with.
Here's a closer look:
Ain't it cute?!
Next up is an adorable new candy packaging made with Stampin' Up! new Candy Wrapper Bigz L Die.
OK - so these little Candy Wrapper Boxes are a little tricky at first. But just like the Mini Milk Carton die...once you do a couple, you'll get them down pat. I die cut them first, then ran them through the Big Shot Machine with the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.
I sponged Whisper White Craft ink over the raised snowflakes (with a sponge dauber). I really liked the way it brought out the details in the snowflakes. I did the same thing on the card above as well.
The greeting is from a new stamp set called Tags Till Christmas (available 9/1/10) and is matted with Scallop Square Punch.
See the Tinsel Trim again...LOVE IT!!
