Wow, summer is almost over...can you believe it? I can't...it went by way too fast. If you missed getting some of the popular Stampin' Up! 2011 Summer Mini Catalog stamp sets, you'll want to place your order today!!
Here's a few of my favorite swaps I received from the many swapping opportunities I had this spring and summer. Enjoy!!
Yes, I know...Day #3 is late. My day completely got away from me and since there was the Control Freaks tour yesterday...I gave myself permission to let it slide. Wow, that is so unlike me. But it's good for me to let go sometimes. Ok - that's too much information for you :). Let's get on with the celebrating!
On to day #3 of our DOcelebration! Today's card took another cue from YOU my readers. Remember DOcelebration Day#1? I asked you, "What is your favorite new Stampin' Up! In-Color?" Well, over 100 people shared their favorite (yes, I read them all. I always read all my comments). It sounds like for many of you, your favorite new color is the same as mine...Wisteria Wonder. However, I was suprised at the number of people who said Calypso Coral was their favorite. I have to admit, that it is my least favorite. In fact, I hadn't even opened my inkpad yet. The horrors!! So, what do you think I did? Yes - I opened up my pad and got stamping! Take a look...
Love & Care Hand Drawn Framed Notecard
I needed to make a large number of Thank You cards for customer orders and product share customers this month. I really wanted to use my favorite Stampin' Up! hostess stamp set "Love & Care" (from the Stampin' Up! Summer Mini Catalog ending August 31st). So I combined it with Calypso Coral (and Lucky Limeade) and it didn't turn out half bad.
Most times my stamping style is what I call "middle of the road". But I also like clean and simple stamping too. And this simple one-layer notecard fits the bill. What I like best about this card is the hand-drawn frame that was done with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. I was inspired by a few other cards I had seen that had a hand-drawn frame. For mine, I created my own template and I did a "quick tip" video to show you how I did it (includes tips for the frame, clear block positioning and huffing).
Stamps: Love & Care Hostess stamp set Ink: Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Basic Black Paper: Whisper White Notecards and Envelopes (#107311) Accessories: Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker, 4-1/4" x 2-3/4" tracing template

Love & Care Hostess stamp set, Notecard & Envelopes AND yes, today's project too!
How to Enter: Leave a comment on this blog post. Share what is your stamping style. Are you clean and simple, over the top or middle of the road (like me)?
You won't get seasick with today's card. It uses Stampin' Up!'s newer circle dies (3 inch #122125 and 3-1/2 inch #121811) to create a ships port hole! I saw a similiar card made by fellow demonstrator Kari Metzger and just knew my Stamping Club members would love it!!
This card also features a very cool technique using your leftover rubber pieces, called Mosaic Tile Stamping. So gather up your rubber scraps and follow my tips or check out my video below.
Dawn's Stamping Tips: Mosaic Tile Stamping
Cut some leftover rubber into small pieces of varying sizes
Mount onto Acrylic Block E (or wood block). Tip: arrange pieces so pretty close to each other.
Now ink it up with VersaMark ink
Stamp it over an image you have already pre-stamped and colored
Heat emboss with clear embossing powder and let cool
Sponge Early Espresso over entire image (be sure to get into the "cracks")
Stamps: The Open Seas(#123030w or #123032c) Ink: Jet Black Stazon, Early Espresso, More Mustard, Marina Mist Paper: Not Quite Navy, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla cardstock and Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper (#122343) Accessories: Big Shot, 3" & 3-1/2" Circle Dies, Crop-a-Dile, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, Cutter Tool, Clear Block E, Gold Brads, Early Espresso Baker's Twine #123124, Blender Pen, Stampin' Sponges, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Toold, Stampin' Dimensionals

Got 10 minutes? Then you have time to make this Amazing Fold Card! For this week's 10-Minute Tuesday Video, I decided to demonstrate how to make a card I shared a couple of weeks ago. It was one of the make & take projects from the 2011 Stampin' Up! Alaskan cruise - check it out here. And boy oh boy, I got tons of requests for the instructions.
As I can't share soon-to-be-released Stampin' Up! products on video yet (not until July 1st), I'm using the awesome new hostess level two stamp set called Love and Care (from the 2011 Summer Mini Catalog).
Features of today's card:
1. Amazing Fold Technique 2. Love and Care Hostess Level Two 3. Huffing Technique 4. Sponging Tips 5. Finished Card Size = 4-1/4"x 4-1/4"
With so many colors to choose from that coordinate with the Stampin' Up! Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper, I can't make up my mind. So I made two cards, same layout!
This will be my final round for the current color selections in the ribbons noted with a (*) above. As of July 1st, a new color selection will be offered along with two new ribbon offerings.
If you want to get in on my final round, see here for Reservation details and instructions. Be sure to contact me asap, before some of them are gone for good!
Yes, again with my favorite, Stampin' Up!'s On the Grow stamp set. Are you getting sick of it yet? I hope not. Today's card is a Sketch Pad DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge...provided by Jan Carlson. She does a great job with our sketches...thanks Jan!
With a sketch like this one, plus a simple and fast coloring technique (which I share below)...this card went together pretty fast! Check it out...
The Designer Series Paper is called Elegant Soiree (#117163)and is retiring! I'll be sad to see it go. It's a beautiful paper and will be missed. Be sure to get it now before it's gone for good on June 30th.
So how did I color the flowers?
I know I didn't invent this technique. But I don't know if there is a name for the "coloring technique" I used on the flowers. Maybe we can call it "Blended Lines". Hmm...that sounds good, what do you think? See below for my how-to tips...
Dawn's Stamping Tips - Blended Lines
1. Stamp a line image with Perfect Plum ink
2. Use a blender pen and immediately blend the lines of the flower images. Meaning, pull the ink from the stamped flower lines inwards to "fill" the flower with color. Act quickly before the ink dries.
3. Step it up, by adding Stampin' Up! Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the flowers with a 2-Way Glue Pen

Last week I shared a square On the Growcard using Stampin' Up! Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Since then - I've received several inquiries on how I made it square instead of the standard rectangle. Let me tell you - it's SO easy to do. Be sure to check out the quick video.
Here's another example of the square Framed Tulips:
The flowers in the center are embossed using the new Stampin' Up! Flower Garden Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with vellum cardstock. I used our neutral brads to attach it to the So Saffron scallop square (Scallop Squares Duo #120903) - no adhesive.
The "Hello" is from the Happy Greetings stamp set (2011 Summer Mini Catalog) and is punched with the newer small oval punch (#120908)
Isn't this cute? What a wonderful way to say "Hello"!
It's another DOstamperSTARS Challenge Thursday. This week it's a Stamp That Tune Challenge. Laurie picked Shania Twain, You're Still the One (take a listen).
So whether it's old or new, we're to use our favorite stamp set to create a project.
Currently, my favorite stamp set is "On The Grow", from the Stampin' Up! 2011 Summer Mini Catalog.
To see how-to create the square Framed Tulips border, check out a quick video "Stampin' Up! Framed Tulips Square". It's SO easy to do!!
