This weekend I got to stamp with my 5 year old grandson Maxwell (as he now calls himself). I suggested we make a Valentine's Day Card and he agreed. I got out some punches and Stampin' Up!'s Hearts a Flurry Bundle (from the 2013 Spring Catalog) for us to play with and we got stamping! What fun!
Here's the finished card. Well, at least I thought it was finished. He SO wanted to use the 5/8" Flower Trim I had laying on the table for another project. He just couldn't resist it.
So now here's the finished card with a "rose", as Max called it. He added the stem and leaves with a crayon. There's nothing better than stamping with your grandchildren!
Here's the conversation that followed:
Umma (that's me): So Max, are you going to give the card to your mommy?
Max: No Umma, I want to keep it.
Umma: I thought you were making it for mommy?
Max: I want it to be my Valentines card from you. You can give it to me today.
Umma: Hmm, but you made it. You should give it away to someone.
Max: But it's so pretty, I want to keep it.
Umma: I know how you feel, honey. It is sometimes hard to give our cards away.
Yes - he went home with his card & a smile!

Oh Dawn, he is precious!!!!! And he certainly gets his fabulous creativity from his grandma. Ain't grandchildren GRAND????? The most fun I have with mine is when they sit at my dinning room table, which is covered with a nice and thick felt lined table cloth, and let them make their cards for their parents.

I'm of the same mind as Maxwell, I keep the cards I make in class for reference and then use them as an inspiration & starting point. Guess the artistic gene runs in your side of the family, Dawn aka Umma. Great card and great memories for both you and Maxwell!

Wow! Isn't it fun - I have 3 Great Granddaughters I stamp with who are 6-7-9. There is Nothing that compares with the love that flows at that crafting table. We have a blast.
