Day Four - Punchy Christmas: Holly Bell

Welcome to Day Four of Punchy Christmas Cards!

Today's card was made by me!  I learned how to do the bell from Heather Summers.  Isn't it an adorable bell!

Dec Technqiue Tues Classes: Sunsets & Houses

This month featured some fun techniques that were shared by a couple fellow demonstrators.

This first card features a technique called Glowing Sunset, shared by LeeAnn Greff.   It also features another technique...masking.  We masked off the "snowy" area.  Then using Stampin' Sponges (cut into wedges), So Saffron, Cameo Coral & Bashful Blue ink were sponged onto the card (in that order).  Note:  It takes a light touch with the sponging.

Other Supplies:  Scenic Season stamp set, Bashful Blue, Eggplant Envy and Whisper White Cardstock, Eggplant Envy, So Sffron, Cameo Coral & Bashful Blue Classic Ink, Silver Brads

Let It Snow Banner with the Big Shot

Last year I had Terri Gaines as a guest presenter at my DOstamperSUPERSTARS Downline acheivement event.  She did this project:  LOVE banner. 

I had mentioned that I fell in love with her "Let it Snow" banner. Someone just asked if I had a picture of it...and I do. 

Terri used the following Big Shot Dies:
Scallop Circle (#113468) - White Adhesive Backed Fun Foam
Snowflake #2 (#113460) - White Adhesive Backed Fun Foam
Serif Essentials Alphabet (#113464) - Bashful Blue cardstock

It's kinda hard to see in the picture, but she added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to each piece and threaded it all together with silver cording.

Big Shot: Holiday Nugget Matchbox

Here's a fun way to give candy for the holidays! 

How to:

1. Cut three Stampin' Up! Matchbox (#114890, $42.95), box bottoms only - not the covers from Real Red Cardstock
2.  Assemble boxes and add a Silver Brad to the front of each box
3.  Cut 6-1/2" x 7-3/8" piece of Soft Suede cardstock.  With 7-3/8" side at the top of your trimmer, score at 3-1/4" & 4-1/8".
4.  Punch a scallop edge border along both of the 6-1/2" sides.
5.  Attach the 3 Real Red boxes to the Soft Suede piece with Sticky Strip
6.  Decorate Nuggets with Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper (from the Holiday Mini Catalog)
7.  Decorate top of box with Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper. The "hinges" are a tag from the matchbox die.  Attach with Jumbo Brads.
8.  Tie off box with Mistletoe Ribbon & Silver Cording (from Holiday Mini Catalog)
9.  Stamp Merry Christmas bird (from Holiday Best Hostess Level one stamp set) with Soft Suede & Real Red Markers.  Punch with Ornament Punch (from Holiday Mini Catalog)

Tour De Freaks November Blog Hop Tour: Gift Giving!

I decided to feature Gift Packaging.  You know...all those little things you find at the $ store.  Well - you need something FUN to put them in.

First up - Lotion and Nail Care

Luckily these products match Stampin' Up!'s Orchid Opulence cardstock and Ink! 

For the nail care gift, I just altered the package label and added some Organza Ribbon and silver cording. 

For the lotion, I made a 2-4-6-8 box (from 8 1/2 x 11).  Stenciled the snowflakes with Orchid Opulence ink using the Vintage Ornaments II stencil and a sponge.

TIP:  decorate the cardstock before scoring or cutting.

The white snowflake is die cut using the Merry Details Sizzlets Die and attached with a Ice Circle Rhinestone Brad.

Now..something for the kids.  Penguin lotion, notes and ornaments!

I found these adorable Penguin items at the $ store and just had to have them!  I thought - not only would they make great stocking stuffers, but that I could make some matching punch art ornaments. 

OK - so you have to know...I've never made my own punch art.  I mostly just copy others and have been amazed by their creativity.  SO....

Viola - Aren't these stickin' cute?!  I can't believe how adorable they turned out.  They even got husband approval.  I made them into ornaments to attach to the packaging.

I used vellum cardstock to wrap both of these gifts.  I made a vellum open "envelope" for the post-it notes

For the Lotion - I just wrapped vellum around the bottle, leaving a couple inches at the top.  Scrunched the top together and wrapped in Tempting Turqoise Ribbon and attached the penguin ornament!

I thought about stamping on the vellum (which would be cute), but I liked seeing the item through the vellum.  Sometimes less is more!

Crystal Glitter: Boo Boxes and Spooky card

At my last DOstamperSTARS meeting we had several people volunteer to demonstrate some fun ideas.  I videotaped everyone's presentation (for our DOstamperSTARS video blog), but only got pictures of Jan's projects.  What was I thinking?  I'll have to do better next time.

Today I'm sharing Jan's projects.  She showed us how to use Crystal Effects and Cosmo Fine Glitter to create some awesome BLING!

DOdesigner Gayle: Wedding Sweet Card & Fancy Favor Box

Today's project is brought to you by my downline and friend Gayle!  OK, here's the dirt on Gayle...oops, I don't have any dirt on Gayle. 

Gayle has been a GREAT addition to my DOstamperSTARS team.  She's kind of the heart of our group.  That kindred spirit soul.  I know when she reads this, she will dismiss it.  But it's true - everyone loves Gayle.  She's witty and kind, humorous and charming, and is always willing to help. 

On to her projects...
Gayle selected the WEDDING COLLECTION.  Which was the perfect choice for her since her son got married last month.

The box is made from the Groom Specialty Designer Series Paper and the NEW Stampin' Up! Fancy Favor Die.  The card is silver embossed using an image from the NEW Wedding Sweet Stamp Set.

DOdesigner Jan: From the Crypt Coffin & Card

Last month a few of my DOstamperSTARS did a 3-D Project exchange.  Boy - there were some awesome projects.  I really have talented crafters on my team!

Today I'm sharing Jan's project (which also matched her swap exchange card) - clever girl!  The theme for our swap was Stampin' Up! Collections.  Have you noticed several collections in the current Stampin' Up! catalog?  I love these collections!  Jan selected the HALLOWEEN COLLECTION and used From the Crypt for her projects below.

I believed she used a blender pen with Whisper White Craft Ink to color in the skulls - love it!  This is her "small" coffin.  She's sharing both the large and small coffin patterns on her new blog here:  Stampin With Jan - Coffin Templates 

Jan has really grown this past year as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  I really appreciate her taking on more of a leader position with our group.  At our DOstamperSTARS meeting last week, she demonstrated a cool BLING effect that I videotaped for our DOstamperSTARS video blog.  She always volunteers to help - which I sooo appreciate!  Thanks for all you do Jan!

Tour De Freaks September Blog Hop Tour!

First up is some table setting items using Stampin' Up!'s Table Setting Die for the Big Shot.  This die will cut a tag, napkin holder, 2 leaves, hinge and place card.  In addition, there is a swirl/coil shape that can be used to create a rose or pinecone.  Below I used the pinecone as an embellshment on a basket as well a wine glass marker.   I love the way the wine glass marker turned out!

To create the "pine needles", I used the the 2 die cut leaves and cut them into thin strips.  I love the way they look!

For the basket, I cut strips of the new Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper (for the Holiday Mini Catalog).  Then weaved them in and out of the basket. They are not adhere anywhere on the basket.  So when I get tired of the look, I can just change it out for each season.

The next card is my favorite!!!  It features a beautiful technique called "Herringbone", which uses strips of the same Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper.  I just love the way this card turned out and will be teaching this technique next month. 

Supplies:  Holiday Best (hostess level one stamp set), Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, Taken with Teal and Very Vanilla Cardstock, Taken with Teal & Really Rust Markers, Chocolate Chip Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch, Gold Brads, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Owl Together Now Shadow Box Card

Here's one of the projects from my Technique Tuesday class this month.  This fun-fold card was featured in one of Stampin' Up!'s demonstrator magazines.  It's a Shadow Box card and very easy to do. 

SHADOW BOX CARD Instructions

1.  Cut two, 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" cardstock panels 
2.  Score 1/2" & 1" on both sides of each panel
3.  Make a window (or several windows like the card below) in the "front" panel
4.  Decorate the "inside" panel
5.  Adhere ends together with sticky strip

This card was a huge hit at the class!

Supplies:  Owl Together Now stamp set, Soft Suede, Melon Mambo, Kraft, Whisper White, Bermuda Bay cardstock, In-Color Markers, 1", 1 1/4", 1 3/8", 1 3/4", Scallop Circle Punches, Basic Black & Chocolate Chip Ink, Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon

DOdesign Team: Introducing Pixie & Spooky Treats Rub-Ons, Day 2

Welcome to Day#2 of DOdesigner Pixie Elletson's projects!

Stampin' Up! 2009 Holiday Mini: Sweet Centers & Treat Cups Tutorial

The new Sweet Centers stamp set (#116521, $29.95) from the Stampin' Up! 2009 Holiday Mini catalog is so clever.  What a fun new product!  Pair it with the adorable Sweet Treat Cups (#116802, 12 for only $2.95 - WOW) and you've got a cool card that even your husband will like. (And that's saying a LOT!)

I got an unsolicited, "Oh, that's a cool card", comment from my husband.  I guess it's a winner!

Supplies:  Sweet Centers and Birthday Wish (#114486, $6.95 on dormant list, but still available), Ballet Blue cardstock, ink & marker, Real Red cardstock, marker & Polka Dot Ribbon, Linen Thread, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Tag Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sweet Treat Cups

So how does it work?  Glad you asked.  Here's a mini Tutorial on how to use the Sweet Treat Cups on a card...

SWEET TREAT CUPS TUTORIAL

FYI - The white you see around the edge of the cup is a "liner" you remove revealing adhesive.

Use the 1-3/4" to punch a circle for a perfect fit.  I pushed the punch all the way in from the top.  Then I stamped the Hot Air Balloon image with Ballet Blue.  (FYI - depending on your project, some of other images work better stamped first, then punch out center)

Fill the Sweet Treat Cup with candy (buttons, jewerly, whatever will fit).  Remove the liner and attach to cardstock piece (mine is 2-3/4 x 2-3/4).

Then run adhesive around the edge of the cardstock piece and place the Sweet Treat Cup into card from behind.

I'm sure there are other ways to assemble these adorable Sweet Treat Cups.  Just use your creativity!

Tour De Freaks August Blog Hop Tour!

On to the projects...

My first two projects feature the gorgeous "Cottage Wall" Designer Series Paper with Rich Razzleberry!

I love this double heart card.  So easy to do. 

Instructions:  Cut your Pale Plum card front in the Mover and Shapers die with the heart shape die.  Then leaving the cardstock in place, slide the heart shape over so it over laps the previous cut heart and cut again.  I also ran it through the Big Shot again, this time using the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds I Texturz Plate.  Attach a couple of Full Heart punches and Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot ribbon and you're done.  Quick & Easy, but cute!!

Next is a Petal Card Window Box. 

 

I just LOVE the way this box turned out.   So freakin' cute!! 

Instructions:  Just die cut, with the Big Shot, four Petal Cards from Old Olive cardstock.  Attach them together side by side (with Sticky Strip).  I punched the window with the 1-1/4" circle punch, then adhered a window sheet over it.  The decorative outside layer was punched with the 1-3/8" circle punch.  Added a butterfly cut from the Beautiful Butterflies die cut.  Attached it with a square rhinestone brad. The bottom and top are just folded up (kinda like a chinese takeout box).  Then tie it up Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon!

Now moving on to another In-Color...Dusty Durango. 

 

I'd like to introduce you to Kitty Kat.  Even my husband liked this card.  That says a lot!  Just a little fun with punches and Kitty Kat comes together quickly.  The greeting is from the Really Retro stamp set #113754  (on the Dormant List, but still available).

Last, but not least...Here's a little bit of Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo (which I think is my favorite of the In Colors!)

Meet Miss Mermaid...

 

The greeting is from the Full of Life stamp set #111500.  Ok - so this one is a little more time consuming, but well worth the effort.  Can you guess which punches were used to create her?

Tri-Fold Shutter Card & Party Hearty

As promised, here are the dimensions and more pictures for the Tri-Fold Shutter Card we did last week at my Technique Tuesday class.  I'm lovin' the Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper!!!

Supplies:  Party Hearty & Birthday Wish stamp set (on dormant list), Bermuda Bay Cardstock, Ink and Ribbon, Melon Mambo Cardstock and Ink, Whisper White Cardstock, Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper, 3/4" & 1" Circle Punches, Paper Trimmer w/Scoring Blade and Stampin' Dimensionals.

Directions:
1.  Cut cardstock to 10-1/2" x 5-1/2"
2.  In landscape - score each end 1-3/4" & 3-1/2"
3.  Turn and CUT at the 1-1/2" mark from the first scored mark to the last scored mark.  Do the same on the other side.
4.  Fold and decorate!

Stampin' Up! Under the Stars: S'more Kits

With Stampin' Up!'s "Under the Stars" stamp set, you can create some SUMMER FUN projects.  Summer is the season for Campfires and S'mores! Today I'm sharing a darling S'more Kit!

The S'more ingredients are packaged in Stampin' Up!'s medium cello bag #102757.  Use the Top Note Die #113463 for a cute topper.  The Wide Oval Punch #112082 was used for the bag labels.  Aren't they cute?

Tour De Freaks July Blog Hop Tour!

Welcome to the July Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today on our second Tour de Freaks Blog Tour! This month we are featuring projects made with NEW STAMPIN' UP! STUFF!  Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers.

Woohoo, I'm excited to share some projects made with my favorite new Designer Series Paper - Razzleberry Lemonade.  I can't get enough of it!  Also - it seems that each of today's projects have a Big Shot element too!  Love the Big Shot!  So sit back, relax and enjoy!

On to the projects...

First up is a card using the NEW "On a Pedestal" stamp set. 

Ain't it cute?  I got to use my new In-Color markers.  I'm IN love with them!  Plus half a Top Note Die at the bottom for a fun look!

Supplies:  NEW On a Pedestal stamp set, NEW Melon Mambo Marker, Cardstock & Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, NEW Rich Razzleberry Ink & Cardstock, Pumpkin Pie Marker & Cardstock, Real Red Ink, Whisper White Cardstock, NEW Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper, Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Top Note Die, Stampin' Dimensionals

Next up is a quick & easy technique card using the NEW Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder.

I put a piece of NEW Razzleberry Lemonade DSP into the NEW Elegant Bouquet Embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot Machine.  Using a Sanding Block, sand off the raised embossed parts to reveal the white core of the paper.  Add a greeting and you're done!

Next card features a fun Top Note Cutting Trick & the NEW Razzle Dazzle Stamp Set.

I was introduced to this fun trick at the Minneapolis Regional Seminar back in April.  The demonstrator referred to it as the "Trenton", who is her son.  I guess he was playing around with her Big Shot machine and came up with it.

Use the Big Shot to cut a Top Note, then take that cut piece and turn it 45 degrees and cut it again with the Top Note.  The "Trenton" Top Note is stamped with the NEW Razzle Dazzle stamp set.

Supplies:  New Razzle Dazzle & All Holidays stamp set, NEW Crushed Curry Cardstock, Ink & Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, NEW Rich Razzleberry Cardstock & Ink, Whisper White Cardstock, NEW Razzleberry Lemonade DSP, Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Top Note Die, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here's my last project.  A fun little Scallop Envelope Mini Purse with Surprise Gift!

Hmm...what's in there?

Ain't it adorable!  OK, now I know what you're asking.  Dawn, where did you find the Melon Mambo colored measuring tape?  Unfortunately - I purchased it at JoAnn's several years ago.  They were clearancing them (along with Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay colored ones)!  Are you like me?  You find something on sale and you think...I know I can find a use for this someday.  Well today is the someday!

I cut a strip of Razzleberry Lemonade DSP to go around the edge and used a 1" circle punch for the center piece.  I was giddy with the way it turned out!

DOdesign Team: Introducing Laurie & Circle Circus

With the release of the 2009-2010 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog, I invited one of my DOstamperSTARS to join my DOdesign Team.  She accepted and created some fabulous samples I'll be sharing with you this week.

First off, let me know introduce you to...Laurie Zoellmer

I met Laurie 2 years ago at a party I did for one of my Scrapbooking Club Members.  I immediately knew she would join Stampin' Up!  Why?  Because she had so much enthusiam and knowledge of the Stampin' Up! product.  She even finished my sentences!  So I sent her home with some information and suggested she contact her current demonstrator about the Stampin' Up! opportunity.  Imagine my surprise and delight when she contacted me a couple months later about joining my team. 

She's been such a blessing to have on my team.  I love to see her smiling face at my events.  She does fabulous work and has generously shared her talents several times at my DOstamperSTAR meetings.  If fact - she was recently one of my DOstamperSUPERSTARS!

I love they way she used the new In-Color Polka Dot Ribbon on this card.  Super Cute!

These Treasure Chests are so easy to make.  Die cut 3 boxes using the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine and the Matchbox XL Die.  Assemble each box.  Adhere each box to the other.  Then wrap with Designer Paper and voila!

Additional supplies used:  Oval All stamp Set with Large Oval & Scallop Oval punches, Crushed Curry Polka Dot Ribbon, Linen Thread, Summer Sun Corduroy Buttons.

First up are two cards featuring the retiring stamp set "Great Grads". 

This card is quick & easy, and features the retiring Urban Oasis Designer Series Paper & the Top Note Die.

Supplies:  Retiring "Great Grads" stamp set, Basic Black cardstock and ink, Whisper White Cardstock, Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Top Note Die, Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals.

The second "Great Grads" card was a project I did at my last Technique Tuesday class and has a lot of features:  Punched grad cap, "Rolling Marbles" (a fun background technique) and the retired Riding Hood Red Patterns Designer Series Paper cut with the Top Note Die.

Hmmm...so what's retiring on this card?  The Rockabilly Speciality Designer Series Paper, that's what's retiring!  This paper is double sided and one side has glossy features to it.  It ROCKS!

Supplies:  Really Retro stamp set, Textured Kiwi Kiss and Real Red cardstock, Whisper White and Basic Black cardstock and ink, Rockabilly Speciality Designer Series Paper, 1/4" Real Real & Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon, Black Gingham Ribbon, Horizontal Slot Punch, 1/2" & 3/4" circle punches, 5/16" Neutral Jumbo Brads, Pop-up Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals

Speaking of ROCKS, here's my last project...I covered a band-aid tin with the Rockabilly DSP, loaded the handle with tons of ribbon (all retiring with the exception of the white & black 1/4" grosgrain), then added a black embossed focal point from the retiring stamp set "It's a Sign".  Opens to find a fun candy surprise!

DOstamperSTARS: Razzleberry Lemonade SuperSTAR Party!

Here's the box my SuperSTARS got to make for their Razzle Dazzle cards posted yesterday. 

The Designer Series Paper used on this fun box is called Razzleberry Lemonade.  It's fun and beautiful.   The paper coordinates with the following colors:  Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie.  It will be available for purchase beginning July 1st.

Top Note Purse Box Dimensions

Stampin' Up! Matchbox Die: Chest of Drawers

Stampin' Up!'s matchbox die is to "die" for!  So incredibly easy to use.  Here's a project that we made last month at my Big Shot Class.  Isn't it adorable?

 

Just stack 3 matchboxes...wrap with Designer Series Paper...add some ribbon/brads and Voila!  So QUICK...so CUTE!

Supplies used:  Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Matchbox Die, Oval All stamp set, Parisian Breeze Designer Series Textured Paper, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze & Whisper White Cardstock, Chocolate Chip Corduroy Buttons, Linen Thread, Chocolate Chip 1" Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Large Oval and Scallop Oval punches.

BIG SHOT: Top Note and Scallop Die Purse Box

Here's an adorable Purse Box that was made with Scallop (#113468) and Top Note (#113463) Dies.  I received a similiar purse in a swap from Mary Brown, on my Hawaii Incentive trip.  I knew that it would be perfect for my Big Shot class!

Big Shot Class: Easter Projects with Pennant & Scallop Envelope Dies

Here's some fun projects we made at my Big Shot Class last month.  The projects feature the Pennant and Scallop Envelope Dies.

 

 

The Easter Pennant supplies:  Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Pennant, Oval Scallop Frame, Serif Essentials Alphabet, Daisies #2, Naturally Serif Alphabet (small letters), Darling Dots level One Hostess stamp set, Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana, Almost Amethyst, 5/16 Jumbo Brads, Fine Cosmo Glitter

 

The letter "E" was die cut from Adhesive Fun Foam.  Put Adhesive side down when cutting.  Pull off adhesive backing and add glitter (a technique shown by my friend Terri Gaines).

Round 2, Big Shot Classes: Top Note, Bird & Scallop Envelope

This past fall I did my first round of Big Shot classes.  They consist of 4 classes - one a month.  The beauty of these classes is, you can start them at any time!  If you start with class #3, then you'll take #4, then #1 & 2.  The objective for completing the classes is that you are more comfortable with the Big Shot machine and have had a chance to most of the different types of dies.

Last week I started my second round of classes for the Big Shot.  I actually had one gal sign up to take all four classes again!  The projects will be different each round due to new products and seasonal projects. 

Class #1 will always focus on the Top Note and Scallop Envelope dies.  These are fabulous dies and have a variety of uses that make them a must have!

 

 

Isn't this gorgeous?  We cut two Top Note Dies and attached them to a mini paper bag.  The Wide Oval punch was used to punch out handles.  The Heart image from the FREE Sale-A-Bration "Polka Dot Punches" set was stamped and punched with the new Full Heart punch.  The greeting is from the FREE "Yummy" Sale-A-Bration stamp set.   The ribbon is the new Organza Ribbon!  (Colors are Whisper White and Sahara Sand on all samples).

   

This is an envelope pouch with 3 Scalloped Envelopes/Gift Cards.  Just cut out your 3 scallop envelopes with the Big Shot using Designer Paper (be sure to use the crease pad with this die).  The DSP is the super cute Delicate Dots, FREEif you place a $50 order during Sale-A-Bration (Feb 1-Mar 31).  Each mini envelope and a gift enclosure card in them.  The pouch is made from a medium envelope sealed and cut in half.  The ribbon is also a FREE Sale-a-Bration choice!

   

I've been wanting to use this bird die as "Love Birds" and when I saw a card on Kay's blog (a fellow demonstrator) - I was inspired.  Again I used the Organza Ribbon (love, love, love this ribbon)!  Plus a couple of punches: Heart to Heart and the new Eyelet Border.  The birds are from the Birds and Blooms Sizzlet 4 pack.  This die comes with the Big Shot starter kit or can be purchased separately.  The greeting on this card is from the FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp set "Congrats".

Petal Card Valentine Basket

 This was one of my customers favorite project from my Technique Tuesday class this month for my Stamping Club members.  Just use your Big Shot Sizzix Die Cutting machine and the Petal Card Die to make this adorable Heart Basket. 

 

Cut two Pretty in Pink cardstock Petal Cards and only fold up two sides to form the heart.  Attach those to a 1-1/4 by 5-1/4 piece folded in half.

I used the Designer Label punch (with Regal Rose Cardstock) to attach the Certainly Celerty ribbon to each side. 

 

 

 

The heart and flower images are from the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Polka Dot Punches and stamped in  using Regal Rose Ink.   The flower was punched with the 5 Petal Flower Punch.
