Power Scrapbooking - Stampin' Up! Style

A couple of weeks ago I did a Power Scrapbooking Class.  With only 6 hrs, 1/2 pack of Designer Series Paper, an assortment of white and solid colored cardstock, one 6x6 Linen Album and an assortment of matching embellishment, everyone completed a 20 page album.

Each person was required to bring 40 photos from one event or theme, a paper trimmer, adhesive and scissors.

I guided them through a "Power Scrapbooking" process of organizing, sorting, cropping, page assembly & embellishing, as well as decorating their album (which was inspired by an article in Simple Scrapbooking).  This class was great for both the experience and new-to-scrapbooking alike.  Here's Jane, Jill, Kris & Tricia with their finished books.

How Kris attached the Metal Edge Tag to her book?  She punch a hole in the album with the Crop-a-Dile!  Brave Kris!

Even I was able to complete some scrapbooking.  I got half-way done with my HAWAII scrapbook and finished it up the next day.  I can't remember when I actually finished a scrapbook.  Here's the cover of my book.

Here are some thoughts from some of the gals who attended:

"LOVED LOVED LOVED power scrapbooking!  I was so motivated the next day that I organized other projects to do.  When I get time, I'm going to use the same concept with a larger format because there's no way to do a Disney trip in a 6x6!  I don't think I'll scrapbook any other way from now on.  BRAVO - the "class" was a huge success!" - Kris

I had a good time and it was fun to bring it into work on Monday and show off what I accomplished in 6 hours.  I did pick up some tips which will be helpful when I do scrapbooking in the future.  When I do my next scrapbook, I will "try" to decide on which papers to use and gather my embellishments before I start.  That should help the process to go quicker!  I am certainly glad I did it! - Jane

I really liked power scrapbooking!  I can't believe we actually finished a full scrapbook!  It's nice because now I know how to organize a scrapbook....just time it and do it! - Tricia

Everyone's scrapbook turned out great!  Thanks Ladies for a fun night of scrapbooking!

Introducing Samuel Eugene (aka: Ham)

Grandma-hospital

Just wanted to quickly introduce you to our new Grandson Sam!  He was born today at 9:30am.  Weighing in at 6lbs 10oz.  Baby and Mom are both doing well.  His older brother Max (2 yrs old) is staying with Umma & Umpa this week (that's what Max calls us).  He calls his new brother "Ham".  He's still working on the "S" sound.

Beautiful Watercolor Splash with Fifth Avenue Floral

Last month Denise Jorgenson came to Minneapolis and did a presentation at our BI-Annual Leader Stamp and Share meeting (open to any demonstrator Senior Supervisor and above).  She shared so many wonderful projects with us. One was this really cool and easy "Watercolor Splash" Technique

I knew right away I would feature it at my next Stamping Club class.

Dawn's Stamping Tips

  1. White Emboss an image on White Shimmer cardstock.
  2. Spray liberally with water (let it pool).
  3. Then add re-inker with an Aqua Painter.  It mixes with the water and spreads.
  4. Let dry and finish your card.
  5. On this card we used Regal Rose and Rose Red re-inkers.
