Bright Delights Rubons

One of my favorite products from the 2009 Spring Summer Idea Book & Catalog is the adorable "Bright Delights" Rub-on's (which are still available)!  For this card, I combined the owl from the rub-ons with by favorite card design from the catalog (pg 8).  I thought it was clever the way the ribbons were attached using the horizontal slot punch.

Tour de Freaks Blog Tour Drawing

Blog Tour Pic

THANK YOU everyone for your overwhelming response to our Tour de Freaks Blog Tour. I enjoyed reading your comments and so appreciate all of the wonderful responses!

A few people had questions about the Flower Rosette Card, so I'll be posting a quick tutorial for that technique.  Watch for my next post.

On to the drawing....

CONGRATULATIONS goes to Cheryl

"Great job, Dawn! It's amazing how many of you control freaks I found on my own - and now I have a few more I've added to my bookmarks. Thanks for doing this cool tour for us. Love the rolling marble technique - my daughter used to do it while in preschool, and it's fun to see it in stamping! My fave has got to be the cute bandaid box. Brings back memories of being a kid in rural New York, heading to our campsite by the lake for the summer, armed with a couple of packs of Pop Rocks for entertainment on the ride there! Nice job on all of your posts."

Cheryl - if you could send me your address, I'll pop these projects in the mail to you!

Join us next month on July 20th for the New Catalog Tour de Freaks!

Welcome to June's Tour de Freaks Blog Tour

Blog Tour Pic

Welcome to the Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today on our first Tour de Freaks Blog Tour! This month we are featuring stamps sets that will be retiring on June 30th.  Our tour is nice and short. We have 12 stops on the tour featuring some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers.

Woohoo, I'm excited to share a variety of projects with you today.  I hope you enjoy them!

In fact...be sure to leave a comment on this post, because I'll be drawing a name (who knows, it might be your name).  You'll receive ALL FOUR of the projects I'm sharing today!  So get those comments going.

First up are two cards featuring the retiring stamp set "Great Grads".

This card is quick & easy, and features the retiring Urban Oasis Designer Series Paper & the Top Note Die.

GradD

Supplies:  Retiring "Great Grads" stamp set, Basic Black cardstock and ink, Whisper White Cardstock, Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Top Note Die, Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals.

The second "Great Grads" card was a project I did at my last Technique Tuesday class and has a lot of features:  Punched grad cap, "Rolling Marbles" (a fun background technique) and the retired Riding Hood Red Patterns Designer Series Paper cut with the Top Note Die.

Rolling Marbles Technique

  1. Use a rectangle plastic container with a lid (I used a clamshell storage case, the kind that stamps are stored in)
  2. Add a couple of drops of ink refills to the container (Real Red, Basic Black)
  3. Place 3 marbles in the container.  Close the lid and shake the marbles around in the ink.
  4. Open the container and adhere piece of cardstock on the lid (just use a couple strips of snail - you want to be able to easily remove it)
  5. Flip the container over and roll the "inked marbles" over the cardstock to create the desired look.
  6. Remove cardstock, let dry (will dry quickly).  Add to your project.
  7. See sample below

Hmmm...so what's retiring on this card?  The Rockabilly Speciality Designer Series Paper, that's what's retiring!  This paper is double sided and one side has glossy features to it.  It ROCKS!

Speaking of ROCKS, here's my last project...I covered a band-aid tin with the Rockabilly DSP, loaded the handle with tons of ribbon (all retiring with the exception of the white & black 1/4" grosgrain), then added a black embossed focal point from the retiring stamp set "It's a Sign".  Opens to find a fun candy surprise!
