Stampin' Up! Convention Punched Posies Swap & Designer Brads

I have the honor to be involved in a couple of Stampin' Up! demonstrator swap groups throughout the year.  One of them is called QC swappers and I'm always delighted with their swaps.  This year at the Stampin' Up! convention, I got the pleasure to meet and have lunch with some of them. 

Here's my swap card:

The olive layer uses the Two Tags Die (#115954) only available from Stampin' Up!  The pumpkin pie flower is actually two images punched and layered from the Stampin' Up! 2010 Summer Mini Catalog Hostess Level Two Punched Posies stamp set.

Dawns Stamping Tips
Custom made "Designer Brads" - At the center of the flower is a 5/16" Jumbo Brad covered in Island Oasis Designer Paper.(#117173)  I punched a circle using the circle shape punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309 and attached it to the jumbo brad with a glue dot. 

At first, I was disappointed to discover the circle was larger than the brad.  But I found if I "molded" the paper around the brad, I really liked the look of it!  I'm calling them Designer Brads.  Here's a close up...

Today I had lunch with my Control Freak Sisters!  It was a joy to meet some of the new ones and to visit with the "old" ones!

Stampin' Up! 2010 Convention Flower Power Party

Oh My Gosh - does Stampin' Up! know how to throw a party!?!  Uh - Yea!!! So before the 2010 Stampin' Up! Convention even officially started, Stampin' Up! throws a 70's style Flower Power party!

There was face painting, twister, hula hoop, 70's music, costume contests, product demonstrations, scavenger hunt and more!!!

Here's my friend and Stampin' Up! staff person, Bonnie Thurber.  Peace, man!  She's hip to be cool!!

Here's Jan with Chad the "Love Doctor".  He was handing out "love beads" if you gave him some "love"!!  I had to get me some of the love beads too!

Some of the scavenger hunt items were to have your face painted - don't we look groovy!

2010 Stampin' Up! Convention Check In

Hello from the Stampin' Up! 2010 Convention in Salt Lake City!

I'm having the best time with 2700 of my stampin' buddies.  But particularly with my downline Jan and Laurie!  It's Jan's first convention and let me tell you...there is nothing like your first Stampin' Up! Convention!

Then off to the awards booth to pick up my annual awards and hold my breath for THE PURSE! 

YES - I got the purse and Founder's Circle for the 3rd year in a row!  I'm SO thankful to ALL of my customers, club members and downline.  They are the BEST and I couldn't have done it without them, their friendship and support! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!

What a great start to the 2010 Stampin' Up! Convention!  More to come!!!

July 2010 Controlfreaks Good Old Summertime Tour

Welcome to the July 2010 Tour de Freaks Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you join us today,  This month, I'm the 3rd stop on the tour featuring Summertime projects made with Stampin' Up! products.  Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers. You may have just come from my friend Lisa Martz

Here at the Olchefske house, summertime means BBQ time!  Most evenings we just fire up the grill, add a salad, and we're good to go!  My husband, Gene is the BBQ master at our house and proud of it.  So when I saw the new Stampin' Up! stamp set "On the Grill", I remembered a punch art BBQ Grill I saw earlier this year on Holly's blog and knew it would be perfect for him! 

Here's the BBQ MASTER card for him...He loved it btw!

1.  Build your own stamp by combining the word BBQ and the letters for "master" all together onto one clear block.  Just stamp once!!

Now that we've got the grill going, let's cook some hamburgers.  I've seen several examples of hamburger punch art and pulled inspiration from them all.

 

I also had a picnic image going on in my mind.  So I decided to weave my own tablecloth using 3/8" strips of Whisper White and Real Red.  I love how it turned out!

Here's another way to use the Hi embosslit...

Cover up the "Hi" with an image punched with a 1" circle punch.  With one squeeze of your punch, you can add your own image, yet retain the fun floral embossed background of the die cut.

Just use markers to ink up one of the Cute by the Inch (Hostess Level Two) images.  Quick and easy!!
