Stampin Up! Cute By The Inch & Flower Burst Embosslit

For my Big Shot class this week, I wanted to feature Stampin' Up! Embosslit Dies found on page 215 on the 2010-2011 Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog.  I came across a couple of ideas from fellow demonstrator Michelle Reynolds.  Which inspired today's card - thanks Michelle!

Isn't this gorgeous?!  I love the tone-on-tone use of the Flower Burst Embosslit and  the darling image from a new Hostess Level Two stamp set called Cute by the Inch (see the way is resembles the embosslit - SO cool!).  Plus the color combo - so rich and beautiful (Rich Razzleberry and NEW In Color Concord Crush). 

The pattern paper I used is from the NEW Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack - In Color.  LOVE IT and it's bargain basement price!  That's right...all the Paper Stacks are priced for anyone's budget!

Some people have been asking questions about the 3x6 share, so here's a little 3x6 FAQ:

 

Q:  Can I get a 3x6 Paper Share loose (not in swatchbook format)

A:  Absolutely yes!  Just indicate you a want it loose when you make your purchase

 

Q:  What does a finished 3x6 swatch book look like?

A:  Here you go (this is a picture of past patterns no longer available)

 

 

Q:  How do you use your 3x6 swatch books?

A:  As you can see from the picture above, I punch them with my crop-a-dile and thread them onto a couple of binder rings.  I have these with me at every workshop, club meeting, stamp camp, etc.  My customers can touch and see every pattern that Stampin' Up! carries - they LOVE it! 

 

Q:  What else do you do with them? 

A:  I use them to help design projects and selecting colors to use.  If I'm featuring a specific DSP pattern at workshop or event, I can remove that specific book to pass around.  I can add & remove swatchbooks as they retire or add new papers.  I used the retired swatchbooks for door prizes.

Guest Designer: Ann Truenow & Because I Care

Today I'd like to introduce you to one of my DOstamperSTARS, Ann Truenow.  She is a Supervisor from Kimball, MN (Just east of St. Cloud).  Ann celebrated her Stampin' Up! two year anniversary this past spring and her business is booming.  

Here's how Ann got started as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  Ann was looking for fundraising opportunities and contacted me to see if I would be willing to do a Stampin' Up! fundraiser.  Of course I would.  So we met at a coffee shop to discuss how it would.  She brought her sister with - who was going to participate in the fundraiser too.  As we started to discuss the logistics, her sister mentioned that maybe Ann should become a demonstrator.   Ah - duh, Dawn!!  I mean - of course she should!  Ann had done several parties with me before and she would be great.  What was I thinking, not offering her the opportunity!  Shame on me!

Sometimes we get so caught up in the routine of doing things, we just plain forget.  So if you are just like Ann (or have a sister like Ann's), you too should sign up to join.  Talk to your demonstrator (or me) and start having fun now!

On to Ann's cards from our last DOstamperSTARS Shoebox Swap & Pizza Party:

 

Shoebox Swap Card - for this card, Ann had us using the THUMPING technique. 
Directions:  Ink your stamp up in the lighter color, Marina Mist.  Then use the Concord Crush Stampin' Write marker and "thump" (bounce) color onto your stamp.  Then stamp onto your cardstock.  Fun technique - thanks Ann!

 

This is Ann's "Leader Swap" card.  Because Ann is one of my Leaders, she participates in my leadership swap too!  These cards are "step-it-up" cards.  A few more layers, maybe a special embellishment, etc.
