Controlfreak Tour: Petal Cone and Blossom Petals Love!

Blog Tour Pic

Welcome to the Control Freaks January 2010 Tour.  We are thrilled to have you join us today. I'm your 10th stop this month.  Our tour is nice and short, and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers.  In fact, if you started in the middle of the tour, you may have just come from Wendy Janson's blog - welcome!

Our theme for this month is, From the Heart -- Cards, Gifts and Projects for Valentine's Day.

My projects this month focus on some of my favorites from Stampin' Up!'s 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog.  So let's get started!

First up...Petal Cone Die Heart Pouch!

Petal-Cone-Heart-Pouch

I love the way this turned out!

RubberstampBW Dawns Stamping Tips - for Petal Cone Heart

1.  I cut two Petal Cones with the Big Shot and left them flat.  (When you fold on all of the score lines, they'll make a "cone box").  When you don't fold them, they have a heart shape.  Just another great use for this fun die!!!

2.  Then I ran it back through the Big Shot with the Lots of Love Letterpress Plate.  I didn't use any ink, I just wanted the texture.  See close up below.

3.  Use Sticky Strip and 5/8" Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon to trim out the top of the heart pouch.

4.  Use Sticky Strip on the "tabs" to adhere two sides together.

5.  Decorate and enjoy! (see tips below)

Petal-Cone-Heart-CU

The flowers were created with the new Stampin' Up! Build a Blossom stamp set and matching Blossom Petals Punch.  I attached them to a 3/4" circle "base".  Then topped off with 1/2" circle and a Pearl Jewel.  The "love" is from Tiny Tags stamp set and punch with the Jewelry Tag Punch.  The ribbon trim is 5/8" Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon.

My next project is 3x3 Blossom Petals Valentine!

3x3-Scallop-Valentine

Yes - it's only 3x3.  The scallop square on the back is a carry-over die from the Holiday Mini Catalog called Scallop Squares Duo #120903 (it cuts two sizes of scallop squares...this one is the larger of the two).

Lightbulb1 I was giddy when I discovered it would fit in our Mini Square Envelopes #107309.  LOVE IT!!

I had fun adding the new Frames Tulips Texture Embossing Folder to the bottom of the card AND the flap on the envelope.  I sponged a little regal rose ink on the envelope to make it pop.

Group-Shot

Here's a group shot to give you a feel for the size of these projects.  The Petal Cone Heart Pouch measures about 6x6 and of course the Love Valentine is 3x3.

Colors for both projects include:  Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery & Very Vanilla cardstock and Regal Rose and Old Olive Classic Ink

Well, that wraps up this stop of the tour.  I hope you enjoyed it.  Now on to more sneak peaks from my wonderfully talented friend, Barb Mullikin

Stampin' Up! Thanks for Caring: Paula Beecher

Oh my gosh, Paula made this awesome card at the last DOstamperSTARS Shoebox Swap, that used Stampin' Up!'s "Thanks for Caring" stamp set.  I think a few of us were a little intimated with it, as she used the new Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink on it and most of us hadn't used it yet.  Let me tell you - SO FUN, LOVE IT!!  You'll have give it a try.

2011 Stampin' Up! Leadership Was Awesome!

Awesome, Wow, Amazing, Inspiring and Best-Ever!!  That describes Stampin' Up!'s 2011 Leadership Conference.

Stampin' Up! outdid themselves this year.  At every turn there was something new, a little surprise, amazing classes, inspiring speeches and more!

For me, this was a very special event as I was given the opportunity to give back and share my experience with Social Networking.  I totally enjoyed presenting the class with my Stampin' Up! co-presenter Chad Williams.  I was thrilled beyond belief with the response from everyone.  Several times I was moved to tears, as many of you shared how I touch your lives everyday (particularly at 1:00pm when my email subscribers receive their daily dose of DOstamping!)  Wow - I really got to see and hear the impact of social networking, just amazing!

Here's some pictures from my presentation:

Stamp That Tune SSC031: Blossom Petal Builder Punch

It's another Thursday Challenge and today it's a "Stamp That Tune" Challenge!

Be inspired by Marie Osmond's Paper Roses Album Cover.  Or listen to the song for inspiration.  Either way - join us by leaving a comment with a link to your Paper Roses creation!

SSC031-Paper-Rose

Here's my card...

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, easter, build a blossom, blossom builder punch

Isn't this gorgeous?!  If I do say so myself!

I was drawn to how the flowers "climbed" up the side of the album cover, so that's where I started.  Using the new Build-a-Blossom stamp set and matching Blossom Petal Builder Punch, I created three flowers stamping Regal Rose Ink on Pretty in Pink cardstock.  I sponged a little ink on the edges to make the flowers "pop" a little bit more.  Then finished the flowers off with a pearl jewel.

The Certainly Celery base is textured with the brand-new, absolutely-gorgeous, must-have
Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.   Then I added a little depth by sponging the raised edges with Old Olive Ink.

Stampin' Up! Manager's Reception: Yeehaw!

Yeehaw!  I just got back from the awesome Stampin' Up! Manager's Reception at the Wild Horses Saloon in Nashville, TN.  We had the best food EVER!  Down home-cooked style food and yummy dessert (I only ate half - but so good).  It was a great time with fun music and hooking up with my friends from all over the United States.

Stampin' Up! Managers were also treated to a cool new stamp set to be released with the 2011 SUMMER MINI Catalog.  It's a travel themed set.  (Sorry - can't show it to you now).  Plus, we received our Leadership tote/purse...SUPER DUPER ADORABLE!

The Opryland Convention Center (more like a small village) - is HUGE!  It's shops, hotels, restaurants and convention center all under one roof.

Well, I've got a huge day tomorrow for the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference and need my rest.  I'll try to share more as I can.  But check back next week for lots of pictures and more!

Thanks for stopping by!
