Stampin' Up! Border Punch Frame Questions Answered

I've received lots of questions on the Stampin' Up! Border Punch Frames I posted here.  So I thought I would take a minute to answer them today.

Q:  Did you use the old style or new style for the Scallop Edge and Eyelets punches?

A:  I did use the "old style" punches on the the Eyelet Border and Scallop Edge Border frames.  I've since heard that the new style for those punches may work differently.

Q:  Do you know of some way the frames could work for the new style Scallop Edge and Eyelet punches?

A:  As I don't own the new style of those punches, I'm not completely sure what to suggest.  However, my "accounting brain" thinks if we try starting with a 2-3/4" square (or maybe even smaller), we'll probably get something that looks similiar to the scallop trim border frame (in the lower left on the display).  Just a guess.  I may have to get the new style for these punches.  In the meantime...can anyone give it a try and let me know?

Q:  Did you cut the frame in the middle?

A:  No, the punch does that for you.  Give it a try and you'll go aha!

Q:  Will you be doing a video?

A:  Yes, I can do a video.

I think that's everyone's questions.  I'll try to post a video tomorrow.  Thanks everyone for your generous feedback.  I so appreciate it!!

Blast from the Past: Scallop Border Frame w/ Dreams DuJour

Wow!!  From the number of comments left, I can see that you are lovin' the Stampin' Up! Border Punch Frames I posted yesterday.

Many of you told me your favorite is the Scallop Border Punch Frame.  So here's a card I did a couple years ago using it.  It uses the current stamp set "Dreams du Jour".  However, the ribbon and the pattern paper are retired and no longer available, but everything else is still current.  (Excuse the quality of the photo - I was a newbie blogger back then.)

The frame measures 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" and use the "old style" Scallop Border Punch.

SSC037: Word Play & Funny Girl, a Great Match!

When I saw this week's DOstamperSTARS Challenge, Musical Mania: "Funny Girl", I immediately thought of the "Word Play" stamp set by Stampin' Up!  I also wanted to keep it simple.  Because I think a funny girl would want it simple, with very little frufru.

Here's this week's challenge... Musical Mania: Funny Girl

If you need a fast card for an upcoming wedding, this card fits the bill.  I think it took me longer to photograph/edit the card, then it did to actually make the card.  But I DO love the way it turned out.

Wondering about the cool "Frame"?  It's SO easy to make.  See the Dotted Ribbon Punch Frame instructions below.

If you're in my stamping club, I'm SO excited about your upcoming monthly Technique Tuesday class next week!  One of the three techniques you'll be doing is embossed resist.  The Easter Blooms stamp set, from the Stampin' Up! 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog is perfect for this technique.  Here's a sneak peak:

Easter-Blooms-Peak

This card is actually a twofer.  What's a twofer Dawn?  That's two techniques in one card.  This card features a "fun fold" technique that I'm not sure what it's called.  But I'm calling it the "Double Card"!  You won't want to miss this class!!

Punch Bunch goes Masculine!

Here's another card we did at my "Stamp Out The Winter Blues" stamp camp this past weekend.  The card features the Punch Bunch stamp set, which is free with a $50 order!

I was getting down to the wire getting my cards ready for this camp and I came across this card on Stampin' Up! CEO and Co-Founder Shelli Gardner's blog.  I thought it had a great masculine feel to it.  Perfect to round out the selection of cards for the camp.  Plus - if it's good enough for Shelli, it's good enough for me!

Punch-Bunch-Birthday

1.PushPin-Note-Reminder Dawn's Stamping Tips

1.  Stamp the "Happy Birthday" image twice (from the free Punch Bunch stamp set), once in Crumb Cake and once in More Mustard.  Then cut out the HB in the More Mustard one.

2.  The scallop trim is done with the Tastefully Trim XL Die for the Big Shot (still available for purchase #120893).  This is a long die.  Cut 1-1/4" x 11" pieces...one in Very Vanilla and one in More Mustard.  Adhere the two together, then adhere to the card.  There will be enough for two cards.

Sale-A-Bration Sweet Summer Swap: Same Yet Different

One of my favorite swaps I received at the Stampin' Up! Minneapolis Regional Seminar was from LuAnn Dehne.  She made this adorable Sweet Summer (2011 Sale-a-Bration) card.  Exactly what I was looking for, for my Stamp Out the Winter Blues stamp camp this past Saturday!

LuAnn-Dehne

I didn't have a few of the supplies she used, so I changed up a couple things.  Take a look.

Sweet-Summer

Here are my changes:

1.  I flipped the layout
2.  The greeting is from Sale-a-Bration stamp set...So Happy For You
3.  My card uses Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery (vs. LuAnn's card uses Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzaz)
4.  I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the center of the flowers (had to see in the picture)
5.  I added a strip of Soft Suede

Swap cards are the great starting point when making cards.  I find myself starting to duplicate the card, then veering off in a different direction to make it my own.
