Blog Tour Pic

Welcome to the Control Freaks February 2010 Tour.  We are thrilled to have you join us today. I'm your 8th stop this month.  Our tour is nice and short, and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers.  In fact, if you started in the middle of the tour, you may have just come from my friend Gretchen Barron's blog - welcome!

Our theme for this month is:  It's My Party!

Well - it's not my party, but it will be Max's party in a couple of months.  If you're a follower of mine, you know who Max is.  He's my grandson and he'll be turning FOUR in two months.  Wow - I can't believe he'll be four.  Seems like yesterday he was just a baby.  But I digress.

To get ready for his upcoming birthday, I've make a My Digital Studio Hybrid (both digital and real-life) invitation and other matching items with Stampin' Up!'s Birthday Bash Suite Products.  Which include the stamp set "Party this Way" (#118744), Celebrations Designer Series Paper (#117164) and Celebrations Digital Kit (#123728) from My Digital Studio!!!

Here are the components I created using My Digital Studio:

Max Turns 4-003

Side note:  I felt like I was channeling Patty Bennett when I was working on the above My Digital Studio components - he he!!

Here's the invite:

Side-View

Now, it's cute just like this, but...it's even cuter made into an easel card!!

Easel-open

How fun is that?  I love the "word play" on his name.  That was my husband's contribution to the card.  Oh - forgot to mention - the actual invitation slips out.  Just pull on the Round Tab at the top.

Here's the candy and cake decorations...

Candy

Cupcake-Markers

The cupcake markers were punched out with a 1-3/4" Circle Punch.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals to attached them to a toothpick.

Do you think he'll like it?  More importantly...do you think his mom (my daughter Angie) will like it?

Well, that wraps up this stop of the tour.  I hope you enjoyed it.  Now on to more party inspiration from the always creative Wendy Weixler - she has an awesome project to share with you - you'll love it!

Dawn's Tool Tips: Stampin' Around Wheel Guide Video, Straight Lines

Are you Stampin' Around Wheel challenged?  Are you frustrated trying to get straight lines?  I sure was! Now I never worry about crooked wheel images with Stampin Up!'s Stampin' Around Wheel Guide (#104834).  It's a straight edge and ruler for your Stampin' Around Wheels - love it!

Dawn's Tool Tips: Stampin' Around Wheel Guide

Stampin'-Around-Wheel-Guide 1.  It comes with two 12" rulers that snap together to make a 22" straight edge or a right angle corner.

2.  Before you use the Wheel Guide for the first time, peel off the release paper from the rubber feet and attach the feet to the shaded areas (four on each guide) on the underside corners.

3.  Works with Stampin’ Around wheels (standard, jumbo or builder wheels)

4.  Clear rulers allow you to view artwork

Build-a-Blossom Remember this card?  I've received a few questions about the background, which was stamped using the"In Stitches" Jumbo Wheel from the 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog.

In addition, I received some comments about how it looks so straight.  So I thought I would do a quick how-to video.

Petal Cone Die: Super Cute Take Out Box!

Oh my gosh...you're gonna love this!  When I was at the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference last month, my friend Penny Thomas received an adorable Take Out Box make from the Stampin' Up! Petal Cone Die from fellow demonstrator Heather Summers.  I rushed home and just had to make one (actually several, as this one was of my Big Shot club projects last month).  When I got home, I found I didn't take a picture of it.  What was I thinking.  So I was going from memory...which is not always the best thing for me (LOL!).

Sketch Pad Challenge SSC#036: Bring On The Cake

It's another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge...Sketch Pad #SSC036.  I was really drawn to this week's sketch challenge.  It's simple and fun.  But my favorite part is the color blocking look.

SSC036

Here's my quick and easy card.  Great for kids birthdays!

SSC036-Birthday

PushPin-Note-Reminder Dawn's Stamping Tips

Here are the measurements I used for this fun Color Blocking Card

1)  1-5/8" x 1-3/4"
2)  1-5/8" x 3-1/2"
3)  2-3/8" x 3-1/2"
4)  2-3/8" x 1-3/4"

You'll notice I arranged my blocks 3 & 4 on top and 1 & 2 on the bottom (opposite of the sketch).  Either way - the measurements should work for your 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card.

We would love to have you join us!  Just leave a comment on this post with a link back to your card.

Stampin' Up! Build-a-Blossom Video: How to Assemble

After posting this Blossom Petals Punch Tip Video, I've been receiving a lot a inquires on how to assemble a Stampin' Up! Build-a-Blossom.  I taught this at my Stamping Club Class earlier this month, so I put together a how-to video (see below).

Build-a-Blossom-cu

It's quite easy to assemble the flower once you figure out the positioning of the petals.  Watch the video for a demonstration.

Stampin' Up! Regionals Mpls: Shelli Was Here!

What a fun weekend the DOstamperSTARS had!  Friday night we had a fun Shoebox Swap/Pizza Party with my friend Kelly Acheson and her downline!

Kelly-&-Dawn

Kelly-Candy

Look what she gave me.  Isn't this adorable?  Not sure I'll be able to eat it, because it's just too darn cute!

Shelli2

Here's Shelli Gardner (CEO and Co-Founder of Stampin' Up!) with my group.  It was great for them to meet her in real life!

Shelli made an offer to anyone who attended the Stampin' Up! Minneapolis Regional Seminar, that we could offer a free stamp set to our new demonstator.  That is, if they sign up between February 11 and 27th.   The free stamp set we can offer you is called Sunny Fun and is a new set from the upcoming 2011 Summer Mini Catalog - woohoo!  Scroll down to the next post to see samples from this super cute stamp set.

So how cool is that?!

It's a great time to sign up with all of the special Sale-a-Bration advantages too!  Don't miss out, the free Sunny Fun stamp set offer ends February 27th.

I would love to invite you to join my team of fabulous demonstrators!
