Punch Art: Bowling Party Invitations

My grandson Max is turning four next month and he's having a bowling party.  Of course, I get to make the invitations.  I wanted to do a bowling bag design with a bowling ball & pins.  So Big Shot and Punch Art to the rescue!!

In fact, what saved the day was the two NEW Big Shot Dies from the 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog.  They measure 3-1/2" and 3".  Perfect for a bowling ball.  The bowling pins took a little more work, but I'm satisfied with the results.

My daughter, Angie and I made the invitations this weekend and they turned out great!  Take a look...

Control Freaks Wedding: To Have and To Hold

Blog Tour Pic

Welcome to the Control Freaks March 2011 Tour.  We are thrilled to have you join us today. I'm your 7th stop this month.  Our tour is nice and short, and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers, sharing projects made with Stampin' Up! products.  In fact, if you started in the middle of the tour, you may have just come fellow freaker Lisa Young's blog.

Our theme for this month is:  Something Borrowed, Something Blue - Wedding Projects

To Have and to Hold:  Something Borrowed Card

 Wedding1a

I would say, this card comes under the borrowed category.  Why?  Because I feel like I channeled my good friend Penny, who does the most beautiful neutral, tone on tone cards.  I find myself going back over and over again to her style and adapting it to my own style!

To Have and To Hold:  Something Blue Card

Wedding2a

For my "blue" wedding card, I used the same "Everything Nice" stamp set, but gave it some color and more!  Funny, how when you add Designer Series Paper, some leaves made with the Blossom Petals punch, and my "favorite" Pearl Jewels, you get a completely different look, but beautiful just the same.  I can't decide which one I like the best.  How about you?

Gift for the Bride

Bookmark

At Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference in January, I received a similiar bookmark using the Fun Flowers Die found in the 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog.  I changed up the color and the embellishment in the center of the flower to make it my own.

SSC040 Fun Flowers Sketch Challenge

It's another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  Today is a "Sketch Pad" Challenge #SSC040.

SSC040

Below is my card using the Big Shot Fun Flower Die from the 2011 Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog and Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper (Free with a $50 order!)

SSC040-Fun-Flowers

Stampin' Up! Fun Flowers die is just that...FUN!  I really hadn't had a chance to play with it much, until I started working on my Big Shot club projects last week.  Now, I can't put it down.  The flowers are SO easy and QUICK...love it!!

It's been awhile since I used my Flower Brads (Pretty in Pink from the subtles pack) and this card was just screaming for something like that.  A small circle punch-out was added to the center, using the owl punch (one of the "eye" punch outs).  The tiny circle was adhered to the brad with a little piece of "snail snot".  Come on - you know what snail snot is, don't you?  The little "balls" of adhesive that collect in a snail's "nose".  (FYI - SNAIL is what Stampin' Up! calls their double-sided adhesive)

Wow- this card was pretty quick and easy, especially with a fun sketch and the big shot!

Stampin' Up! Lattice Die: "Thanks for Caring" Cross

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, lattice die, cross, easter

Today I'm sharing another use for the Stampin' Up! Lattice Die for the Big Shot.  Did you know when you look diagonally at the Lattice Die, you'll see a cross?  Well it's there...take a look.  Can you see it?

Lattice-Die-Cross

I love it when there is more than one use for a die.  It makes it even more useful.  You could use the cross for confirmations, baptisms, sympathy, Easter and more.  Today, I'm pairing it with the 2011 Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog stamp set "Thanks For Caring".  (4/5/12 eta:  Sorry, this stamp set is retired and no longer available)

I did have a little trouble trimming it the first time.  So I thought I would share some tips that I figured out as I was working on the card.

NEW! 10-Minute Tuesday Video: Quick Cards with Stampin' Up! Quick Accents

By request - I'm excited to introduce a new feature on my blog...10-Minute Tuesday Videos.  I've recently been asked by several people for quick card ideas & videos.  These requests are from people who are either new to card making or experienced people who are looking for "quick card" ideas

Who can't use quick card ideas?  I use them all the time for Thank You's and Birthday's!  Though - I haven't featured very many of them on my blog in the past, as I didn't think anyone would be interested.  But I guess you are interested!

As the name implies, I'll be featuring these card ideas & videos on Tuesdays.  Having said that...it probably won't be every Tuesday.  But maybe every other Tuesday.  We'll see how it goes and we'll see how you like it.  Though - the only way I know if you like it or not, is if you leave a comment.  So you know what to do...leave a comment.

These videos will differ from my other videos, as I'll complete an entire card on the video.  In my other videos - I tend to only show techniques, tips and tricks.  As I figure - you already know how to assemble a card.  But as my readers are telling me...there is a segment of you that are new to stamping and you want the basics.

So here goes...If you've got 10 minutes (or less), you can make today's card!

Features of today's card:

1.  Stampin' Up! Quick Accents
2.  Stamping Off Technique
3.  Two-Step Stamping
4.  Finished Card Size = 3 x 5-1/2

Another DOstamperSTARS Favorite: Stampin' Up! Nature Walk

Since so many of us received the Nature Walk stamp set for free at the Minneapolis Stampin' Up! Regionals event last month...it wasn't a surprise to see many DOstamperSTARS used it for their recent swap cards.  In fact...Jenny Maetzold's card was one of the winners of our creative contest with her Nature Walk swap below.
