Control Freaks: NEW On the Grow and Blossom Bouquet Punch

Blog Tour Pic
It's that time of the month again...Control Freak Blog Tour Time!  This month we're sharing sneak peaks from Stampin' Up!'s 2011 Summer Mini Catalog (to be released May 1st).  I'm stop #8 of 11.  If you're coming from Deb Currier's blog - welcome!  (If you arrived before April 20th - all tour sites may not be "live" yet)

First up is a couple of One-Layer Cards using the new stamp set, On The Grow.  I have a saying..."sometimes less is more".  These two cards, fit the bill!

On-the-Grow-Flowers

On-the-Grow-Bike

Stamp in Stazon Jet Black ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Color with inkpads (Perfect Plum, Old Olive and Baja Breeze) and a blender pen.  Add a 1/8" Taffeta Very Vanilla Ribbon and you are set to go.   I'm not the best with watercoloring - but I'm happy with the way these turned out.  They make me smile!

Now on to an Envelope Holder with Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch...This could be used for a gift card, money, candy, small gift packaging, etc.

Blossom-Bouquet-Gift-Card

I'd like to introduce you to the NEW Stampin' Up! Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch!  With one punch you can choose from three images.  Love it!  I used it to create a Decorative Paper Clip to keep the envelope closed.  Just slip it off to open the envelope.

Blossom-Bouquet-cu

Blossom-Bouquet-Open

Woohoo - here's the surprise inside!  I used two of the three Blossom Bouquet punch images (along with other punch shapes) to create an embedded embossed card.

Video: Sanding your Stampin' Up! Solid Image Stamps

As many of you have fallen in love with Stampin' Up!'s Easter Blooms stamp set (121905w or 122057c), I've been receiving some questions on how to get a clean, crisp image of the girl.  That is a great question!

Stampin-Up-Easter-Blossoms

This gives me the opportunity to share an easy tip on prepping solid image stamps.  Have you noticed that when you ink up stamps like the girl, that the ink pools on them, which makes it hard to get an evenly stamped image?

Sanding-Blocks

Well, Stampin' Up! Sanding Blocks to the rescue!  Just use them to "sand off" the manufacturing residue and you'll be set to go.  Watch the video for a quick demonstration.

Now you can enjoy clean, crisp evenly stamped images for all of your rubberstamps!

Video: Easter Blossoms Double Card and Emboss Resist

Last summer, I received a swap card from my friend Kelly Acheson.  I'm calling it a "Double Card".  I totally fell in love with the way it opened and was waiting for right stamp set to come along to duplicate it.  When I saw the Easter Blossoms stamp set in the 2011 Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog, I knew right away that I wanted to make her card.

By the way - there is only a couple weeks left to get this stamp set - so don't forget to order it by April 30th.

Stampin' Up! Magazine: Easter Blossoms and Faux Mother of Pearl

Today's card is a perfect example of my answer to the most frequest question I get asked by potential Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  What is that question, you ask?  "Where do you get your ideas?"  That's easy...from Stampin' Up!

Today's card features a 2011 Occasions Mini stamp set called, Easter Blossoms and a shimmery technique called Faux Mother of Pearl.

Easter-Blooms

Easter-Blooms-CU
This gorgeous card came directly from Stampin' Up!...that's right.  All Stampin' Up!demonstrators receive a  magazine each month called Stampin' Success.  It's a fun mail day when it arrives!  Actually...a new one should be arriving any day now.  So exciting!  Every time I receive one, I dog ear the pages of the creative ideas I want to use for my upcoming classes and workshops (and of course, I'll share with you too!)  I might find a new layout, a new technique or an "old" technique with a new twist, a color combo and more!  I just never know what I'll find, but there is always something I can use in my business.  Just another perk of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and a just another example of the many ways Stampin' Up! supports us as demonstrators!

SSC#044: New Toys in the House! On the Grow Sketch

It's a DOstamperSTARS Sketch Pad Thursday Challenge.  I received my Stampin' Up! pre-order last week and I've been playing with my new toys!  Oops, I'm mean working.  No, I mean stamping.  As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator...I guess it's all the same.  Either way...I've been having fun with a new 2011 Summer Mini stamp set called "On The Grow" (available May 1st).  SO not a typical stamp set I would purchase.  But I decided to "grow" outside-the-box and give it a try.  AND...I love it!

Here's the sketch...
