Spooky Bingo Bits w/Stampin' Up! Peekaboo Frames Video

I know, I know...it's been forever since I've posted.  It's been crazy playing catch up since I returned home from my Founder's Circle Trip and Stampin' Up! Advisory Board Retreat.  In addition, I've had 3 workshops, a Just Cards Buffet class, Big Shot Club, prepping for my large demonstrator event for tomorrow, plus a couple of accounting clients (yes, I'm still doing accounting) AND I got a nasty sinus infection too!  Unfortunately, something had to give and it was my blog.  Thank you to those of you who checked in with me.  It means a lot to me that you care and were missing me.  I was missing you too.  Ok - enough of that and on to the sharing!

Today's card is SO cool!  It's a Spooky Bingo Bits card using Stampin' Up!'s new Peekaboo Frames Die (from the 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog).  It was one of three projects I did for my Big Shot Club class on Tuesday and it was a huge hit!!

MN State Fair: Sam and Max on a Stick Easel Card

One of my favorite places to visit is the Minnesota State Fair.  We don't go every year, but we did go this year.  We pretty much eat our way through the fair.  My favorites are the corn dogs (the ones made out of corn bread batter - yum!), mini donuts, cheese curds and fresh strawberries with cream.  My husband's favorites are the foot long hot dogs with grilled onions, deep fried candy bars on a stick and cotton candy (yes, cotton candy).

This year we got to tag along with our grandsons Max and Sam.  Which meant we spent some time in the Kiddie Midway.  Here's some pictures of the day...

GroupPhoto

Their favorite ride was the Ferris Wheel.  It was the first time either of them went on it and they really enjoyed it.  Check out their smiles...priceless!

Max&Sam

I wanted them to have a little token of the day, so I put together a fun little "picture on-a-stick".  Attached it to a simple easel card and put it in the mail for a fun little surprise for them.  I think they are gonna love it!  Hmm...I should have made two of them...one for each.  What was I thinking?!

1.PushPin-Note-Reminder-35 Dawn's Stampin' Tips:  Simple Easel Card

Easel cards are SO easy.  ANY size card can be turned into an easel card

1.  Fold any size card in half
2.  Then fold the top of your card in half again (folding to the inside of your card)
3.  Attach a little "stop" to the inside of your card (for the easel to rest again)
4.  Viola...instant easel card!!

Normally, I would have attached a picture or decorative front layer to the bottom half of the outside of the card.  But for this card - I used the retired Horizontal Slot Punch to create two "holes" to hold my "picture-on-a-stick" to the card.  This way, they can pull the stick out and play with it.  he he!!

  • Friends: A Stampin' Up! Twist of Fate!

Today I'm sharing a project I designed for my sister Jill.  She called me a couple of months ago to help her put together a photo craft project that she wanted to do at a dinner she was having for her friends.  At the dinner she wanted to take a group picture and add it to the project.

The first thing that came to my mind was an easel card.  So I designed the basic template to fit a 4x6 photo.  Then we worked together with the stamp sets she had and put a plan together for the look of the card.  She did a nice job decorating the card and her friends LOVED it!  Even the ones who never stamped before.  Here's how the card turned out...

Now on to the twist of fate...

See the gal in the front row, all the way to the right.  Let me introduce her to you...her name is Monica Vollmuth.  Little did she know, the Stampin' Up! party she had 9 years ago introduced me to the world of stamping!  In fact - she couldn't even remember having the party and repeatedly denied it.  After much convincing - she started to recall it.

The story even gets more twisted...I really don't even know Monica.  She's my sister Jill's neighbor.  I was never invited to that party 9 years ago.  My sister made me go, because the invitation said to "bring a friend".  Ha - who knew what twist of fate that night would bring and how it would impact my life.  Well, I got to thank her that night.  Thank you Monica, and Jill for making me go!  My life has forever changed since that magical night!

What's the morale of my story...well, if your sister (or friend) says you need to go somewhere with her...maybe you should go!  You just never know what will happen!

    Happy Stamping~Dawn O

10 Min Tuesday Video: Stampin' Up! Dark & Dreary with Embossing Folder Technique

Wow - it's been a long time since I've done a 10-Minute Tuesday Video.  You're in for a spooky treat for today.  It's a Halloween card using Stampin' Up!'s Dark & Dreary stamp set.  The card was inspired by a swap I received from Carrie McCoy at the 2011 Stampin' Up! Convention.  I saw her trading her card and I literally chased her down because I just had to have one!!  Ain't it cool?!

    Dark-&-Dreary

I bet you're thinking...10-minutes, no way!  Well...maybe 15 minutes.  But yes - this is a surprisingly easy card to make.

Here's what is featured in this video:

    1.  Heat emboss Textured Impressions
    2.  Coloring with Sponge Daubers
    3.  Pleated Ribbon Technique

Get out your Big Shot and heat tool, and let's get stamping!!
