Control Freaks Tour July 2012: Watercolor Winter Ensemble

Freakwelcome

Welcome to the Control Freaks July 2012 Tour. We are thrilled to have you join us today. Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers sharing projects made with Stampin' Up! products. In fact, you may have just come from friend and fellow freaker, Barb Mullikin's Blog

Our theme for this month is: "New Holiday Creations or Convention Swaps".  Projects featuring stamp sets/accessories from the brand new Stampin' Up! 2012 Holiday Mini Catalog.  Here we go...

Watercolor Winter Ensemble

Two of my favorite holiday stamp sets from this catalog are Watercolor Winter and Greetings of the Season.  So I combined them for these cards.

Watercolor Winter Notecard

This is a quick and easy, clean and simple card using Stampin' Up!'s Notecards and Envelopes.  At 5" x 3-1/2", they are a little smaller than a standard 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" card.  Perfect for tucking in a holiday gift bag or mass producing.

This monochromatic card has a few details that invite you in for a closer look...

  1. There is just a touch of glitter to give it a winter look.
  2. The texture in the background is from a NEW Texture Embossing Folder for the Big Shot, Lacy Brocade (my new favorite folder!!).  I did swipe some Crumb Cake Ink onto the folder before I ran it through the Big Shot.  I like the 2-tone look.
  3. There is sponging of Early Espresso on the textured and stamped panels, giving the illusion of a frame.
  4. The matting of the front panel really makes it pop!

edited to add: I received a lot of questions on how to make this card.  Check out the video here: Sponged Frame Watercolor Winter Video

Watercolor Winter Mini Treat Tote Box

This little box is the perfect size for some candy or even jewelry.  It uses only a half sheet of cardstock and is tied off with the NEW Crumb Cake Scallop Tulle Ribbon.  Plus - I only used 2 glue dots to hold the entire box together.
