Hat & Mittens Punch Art: Stampin' Up! Mitten Builder

I've been having fun playing with the NEW Stampin' Up! Mitten Builder Punch and matching stamp set, Make A Mitten.

Here's one of the cards I made this weekend.  I used Stephanie Leider's Halloween Card Swap as inspiration for today's Mitten Builder card.  I loved her color block design and was just waiting for the right images to use it with.  I think the Hat & Mittens Punch Art are a perfect fit.  Take a look...

Today's your lucky day...I'm sharing measurements for everything.  I know these color block cards can be stricky to figure out.  I'm in a good mood, so here you go:

Hat & Mittens Punch Art Color Block Card

• Card base:  8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Whisper White
• Base Layer:  4" x 5-1/4" Baja Breeze (add texture with Big Shot #113439 and Square Lattice TIEF #119976)
• Focus Point Layer: 4-1/8" x 2-7/8" Cherry Cobbler (added with Stampin' Dimensionals)
• Greeting: 3-7/8" x 3/4" Whisper White.  Stamp "Christmas Cheer" from Sweet Essentials #126455w or 126457c in Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink

Mitten Builder Punch Art:

• Punch Whisper White mittens with Mitten Builder Punch #127824
• Punch Cherry Cobbler mitten tops with Mitten Builder Punch (Square Lattice texture was added before punching Cherry Cobbler cardstock)
• Stamp "striped border" from Make a Mitten stamp set #127940w or #127943c in Cherry Cobbler Ink on strip of Whisper White cardstock and punch out just the "cuff" part with Mitten Builder Punch.  Adhere to mittens.
• Adhere mittens to 1-3/4"x 2-1/4" piece of Snow Festival DSP #126908, with Stampin' Dimensionals
• Tie bow with Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine #123125 and add with glue dot

XL Oval Hat Punch Art:

• Punch Cherry Cobbler "hat" with XL Oval Punch #119859 - cut in half.  (Square Lattice texture was added before punching Cherry Cobbler cardstock)
• Stamp striped border again in Cherry Cobbler on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. 
• Punch out with Word Window Punch #119857 and attach to the bottom of the hat.  Trim off sides
• There should be enough left of the stamped stripes to punch out a circle using the circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309.  Note:  The stripes will not go to the bottom of the punch, but that will be hidden when you attach it to the hat with a glue dot. 
• Adhere hat to 1-3/4"x 1-1/2" piece of Snow Festival DSP #126908, with Stampin' Dimensionals

Snowflake Soriee Floral Frame Framelit...Who Knew?

Last month I had the pleasure of attending a stamp camp at Susan Adam's house.  Her stamping studio was an inspiration!  With display boards and samples everywhere, I was in stamping heaven! 

One of her Snowflake Soriee samples caught my eye.  Why?  Because it was made with the Floral Frame Framelits!  Which are flowers, not snowflakes.  However, with an old punch trick applied to the framelits, viola...snowflake.  Brilliant!  That was the inspiration for today's card. Take a look...

Sweater Trim Ribbon & Orchard Harvest Fabric Drawstring Bags

I couldn't wait anymore to share today's project with you.  Back in July, when I got my first glimpse of the 2012 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog, one of the first new products that caught my eye was the adorable Sweater Trim Ribbon (pg 11).  I immediately thought it could be used as a drawstring of some kind.  Then I came upon the Orchard Harvest Designer Fabric (pg 30)and completely fell in love with it's bold design and autumn hues.  And bam, it hit me...Fabric Drawstring Bags!

Aren't these stinkin' cute? These Fabric Drawstring Bags could be used for Thanksgiving party favors, birthday party goodie bags, gift wrap, kids game storage (like dominoes) and more!

My daughter, Angie had made some canvas goodie bags for the boy's birthday parties this spring and so I turned to her for her sewing expertise.  We don't have a pattern, but here's some tips: 

• To maximize the Orchard Harvest Designer Fabric, each bag needs two 5-3/4" x 8-1/4" squares.  
• You can get 9 squares from each 18" x 27" fat quarter. 
• Each package of fabric (total of 3 fat quarters), can make a total of 12 bags. 
• I washed and cut everything up.  
• Angie sewed them for me.  Essentially sewing up three sides and turning over the top for the Gumball Green Sweater Trim Ribbon drawstring. 

We made 50 of them for the DOstamperSTARS Camp-a-Rama event this past August.  Each person received their very own Orchard Harvest Fabric Drawstring Bag with a few little goodies to tuck inside!

I love it when you get an idea and it comes out get exactly how you planned it.  That doesn't happen often.  But when it does...I just get giddy with excitement!

Guest Stamper Sunday: Laurie Zoellmer

DOstamperSTAR Laurie Zoellmer is my Guest Stamper today.  The one thing (among many) I like about Laurie is, she isn't afraid of trying new things.  Someone like myself, might say, I'll try that some day.  Not Laurie, she just dives right in and does it!  Like her first project, No Sew Fabric Paper Snip Holder.

First of all, Laurie chose the super cute Summer Smooches Designer Fabric - love it!  Plus, the beauty of this little holder is, it's cut with the Petal Cone Die.  I love her finishing touch of the flower (Blossoms Party Originals Die) and button.  She even put together a photo tutorial on her blog, so you can make one too!  See the link below.

This card is a perfect example of Laurie's stamping style, clean and simple (CAS).  It features the Lacy & Lovely (122885w or 122887c) and Betsy's Blossoms (126004w or 126006c) stamp sets.

I have to let you know...Laurie has been laid up for a couple weeks as she had surgery on her thumb.  She is on the mend, but it's been a struggle for her to stamp and prepare for her classes.  She hasn't asked for any help.  I even offered to help her with cutting for her classes and she said no, thanks.  It's gonna be a few more weeks before she's fully mended and back to her normal stamping activity.  So be sure to stop by her blog and give her some lovin'!
