Sweater Trim Ribbon & Orchard Harvest Fabric Drawstring Bags

I couldn't wait anymore to share today's project with you. Back in July, when I got my first glimpse of the 2012 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog, one of the first new products that caught my eye was the adorable Sweater Trim Ribbon (pg 11). I immediately thought it could be used as a drawstring of some kind. Then I came upon the Orchard Harvest Designer Fabric (pg 30)and completely fell in love with it's bold design and autumn hues. And bam, it hit me...Fabric Drawstring Bags!
Aren't these stinkin' cute? These Fabric Drawstring Bags could be used for Thanksgiving party favors, birthday party goodie bags, gift wrap, kids game storage (like dominoes) and more!
My daughter, Angie had made some canvas goodie bags for the boy's birthday parties this spring and so I turned to her for her sewing expertise. We don't have a pattern, but here's some tips:
- To maximize the Orchard Harvest Designer Fabric, each bag needs two 5-3/4" x 8-1/4" squares.
- You can get 9 squares from each 18" x 27" fat quarter.
- Each package of fabric (total of 3 fat quarters), can make a total of 12 bags.
- I washed and cut everything up.
- Angie sewed them for me. Essentially sewing up three sides and turning over the top for the Gumball Green Sweater Trim Ribbon drawstring.
We made 50 of them for the DOstamperSTARS Camp-a-Rama event this past August. Each person received their very own Orchard Harvest Fabric Drawstring Bag with a few little goodies to tuck inside!
I love it when you get an idea and it comes out get exactly how you planned it. That doesn't happen often. But when it does...I just get giddy with excitement!
