Wetlands Sponged Tag Card

Have you noticed the Wetlands stamp set on pg 69 of the 2013/2014 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog?  Well, I did.  The first thing I noticed was the greetings, which I adore!  Why?  Because I'm fond of greetings that combine both script and printed text. (And you can never have too many greeting stamps!)

The next thing I noticed was the images.  They are good images for masculine cards, which I'm always looking for.  However, I was less in love with them, but only because my mind immediatly thought, "watercolor".  My talents do not lie in watercoloring.  If you have similar thoughts about Wetlands, then you'll enjoy today's non-watercoloring card. Check it out...

 

TIP: I added the ink color with a sponge dauber using a circular, rubbing motion. 

NOTE:

• For my first try at the tag, I stamped the birds in the center and used the sponge dauber to add crumb cake ink on the bottom half and pool party ink on the top half (covering the entire tag).  I didn't care for the look of the birds in the center. 
• Next I tried stamping them on the lower half and started adding the color like you see above.  My intention was to continue all the way up the top 2/3rd of the tag with the Pool Party ink.  But something told me to stop.  I stood back and examined it at that point and really liked the pop of white at the top.  Sometimes "less is more"!

Envelope Punch Board announcement from Stampin' Up!...

We've had an overwhelmingly positive response to the new Envelope Punch Board--so much so that we have nearly gone through our supply weeks sooner than we anticipated! Founder's Circle 2013: Truly Grateful QC Swap

Yesterday at the 2013 Founder's Circle event, was a day of relaxing.  We could go shopping, hang out at the pool, complete our make & takes, read a book, chat with old and new friends...I think you get it.  Just do whatever we want!  And that's exactly what I did!

The day ended with the Stampin' Round Up! Share & Swap event.  Just imagine 120 swappers (in our PJ's) filling the halls of the hotel with our swap line.  A highlight of the trip!

Here's my swap, a Quick & Cute card (QC) which was one of my Just Cards Buffet choices this month.  It was a favorite of mine and still is, 125 swaps later.  I like this card because it's a nice reflection for me on acheiving the special honor of earning my 6th Founder's Circle - Top 100 Stampin' Up! Demonstrators .  I am Truly Grateful for many people in my life, who helped and supported me in this acheivement.

• My customers who encourage me daily with emails of thanks for just doing what I love to do.
• My club members, both local and long distance.  I appreciate both your business and friendship.
• My DOstamperSTARS...these gals are just the best.  I didn't know any one of them before I became a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  And now, I'm honored to call them my friends.

Collage Stamping Tip:

• Start with largest to smallest stamps. 
• Ink stamp once and stamp several times without reinking, getting variations of the same color.  Good technique for adding depth.
