Dawn Tips for using Designer Series Paper:

• See the Crushed Curry "lattice" style paper?  That's from the Eastern Elegance Designer Seres Paper pack.  If you're familiar with that paper - you'd be surprised I paired it with purple tones, as it's designed to go with blue/gray tones.  Just another way to look at your DSP - think outside the box. Makes your paper go farther.  
• Another way to make your paper go farther is using "smart" cutting options.  For this card - I cut the DSP to 2" x 4".  If you need a lot of cards - that will get you 18 cards from just one peice of 12x12 paper - wow!!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #071: Petal Parade

This week's DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge is a Home Sweet Home challenge.  Meaning, we take inspiration from a home decor photo.  Get inspired by the color, layout, or any detail of the photo.  

For me, I chose to go with the bold and fun colors. I selected Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, Tangerine Tango and Crisp Cantaloupe as the closest match, and paired it with the Sale-a-Bration stamp set, Petal Parade (free with a $50 order).

Here's some tips for the Petal Parade stamped piece:

• Start by randomly stamping the largest blossom with Pool Party
• Then randomly stamp the next blossom image using Tangerine Tango
• Then fill-in the "white spaces" with the last floral image using Bermuda Bay

Thoughts & Prayers Reverse Masking Card with Video

Today's Thoughts and Prayers card was offered at my local Card Buffet class last night.  It was a very popular card, so I'm thinking the ladies really liked it.  I think that was because it was quick and easy, but also looked great!  Another reason this is such a nice card is because it's nice and flat, yet features a lot of visual texture.  Makes it great for mailing.

This card features a Reverse Masking Technique that I demonstrated for them.  Below are step by step instructions for you.  I also have a "How'd She DO That?" video. 

 The Bakers Twine is adhered with a glue dot.  Also comes in Gold & Silver (used here).

Reverse Masking Tip:  

• Create "reverse mask" using Stampin' Up! Oval Framelits (cut oval from piece of 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" cardstock (save oval cut out for a future project)
• Lay mask onto vanilla panel of same size
• Stamp Woodgrain image with Sahara Sand ink 
• Remove mask, then stamp tree & greeting images

NOTE: if you have trouble getting a full image inside the oval window, try using a Stampin' Pierce Mat which can help improve the stamping to get "inside the window" - see it demonstrated in the video below.
