DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #086: QC Flower Punches

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge!  This week it's a Home Sweet Home Challenge.   

The first thing I thought of when I saw this week's STARS Challenge is Stampin' Up!'s fabulous punches!  Which makes it a QC card (quick and cute)!  

To give the petals a little volume - I placed the flowers on a Stampin' Piercing Mat.  Using the non-piercing side of a Paper Piercing tool, I pressed in the center of the flowers.  Use Glue Dots and Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere to the card.  Voila - gorgeous!

Paper Pumpkin: Pure Joy!

Last month, my Paper Pumpkin kit (Hey Man) arrived just before my grandsons spent the weekend with us.  I know that Max "loooooves Paper Pumpkin" (as he puts it), so I set it aside for the two of us to work play with together.

Here he is making his cards.  He did everything by himself with the exception of the twine. The upper left photo is kind of blurry, but it truly captures how he feels about Paper Pumpkin (loooooves it) and crafting with his Umma...Pure Joy!

We have a rating system for each Paper Pumpkin kit.  When we're done making the kit, I ask him to rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 (five is the highest).  The "Hey Man" kit was rated a 4 on the "Max Scale".  

My favorite thing about Paper Pumpkin was totally unexpected.  It's a special time to stamp with my grandson.  He loooooves Paper Pumpkin (oh, I said that already), and that touches my heart.  To give that experience to Max and myself...that's what this hobby is all about!  Don't you think?

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #085: Hedgehogs are back with A Little Smile!

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge!  This week it's a Sketch Challenge.  

 

How cute is this? I dare you to not smile at these darling little hedgehogs. They've got a cheerful message and they're so darn cute you cant help but want to put them on everything.  

I love hedgehogs and even have a collection of them (stamps, figurines and more). So, of course I was completely over the moon when I saw the new "A Little Smile" single stamp (134351) in the new catalog...not a little smile, but a BIG smile!

Dawn's Cardmaking Tips

• Image is stamped with the new Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad (coming soon), on Whisper White.  
• I hand cut around the image - close to the end.  (Additional mattes measure 2-7/8" x 3-7/8" Real Red, 3-1/4" x 4-1/2" Crumb Cake)
• I mainly used Stampin' Blendabilities (Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabana, & Skin Tone Assortment).  
• As we don't carry a lighter or medium brown yet, I got out my Stampin' Write Crumb Cake Marker (120967) and Blender Pen (102845) to color the Hedgehog belly.  
• Even the Rhinestone Jewels were colored using Stampin' Blendabilities!
• Pattern paper is from the new Flowerpot Designer Series Paper (133698) - let me just say...cute!! (4" x 5-1/4")
• Add to Whisper White card base of 4-1/4" x 11

I hope these little hedgehogs gave you A Little Smile.

New Catalog Time: "So Very Happy" Control Freak Swap

One of my favorite times of the Stampin' Up! year is when the new Annual Catalog is released. So many new things to choose from and get excited about.  One of them is this stickin' cute owl from the So Very Happy stamp set.

I received the So Very Happy stamp set at the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference back in January.  But only recently got a chance to play with it, as I reached for it for my Control Freak pre-order swap.  (Check out another So Very Happy card.) 

I did use the Stampin' Blendabilities Markers on the Owl.  Colored the image with the light Coastal Cabana Blendabilities Marker, then added accents with the medium marker.  The slightly darker area on his "middle area" was done by going back and adding more color with the light marker.  I didn't want it too dark, so that worked perfectly. (These markers are scheduled to be released late June/early July - but demonstrators can purchase them now.  Join now for only $50.)
