DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #096: Santa Stache

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge!  This week it's a Color challenge. 

What a fun color challenge!  When the STARS got a look at this week's challenge, all sorts of ideas popped into our head...Mickey Mouse, race cars, back to school, motorcyle, etc.  It will be fun to see what they actually come up with.  I'm posting mine early due to my schedule today.  But I'll add the STARS links as they post, so be sure to stop back tomorrow for the final list.

Here's mine...

I really wanted to use a new stamp set from the 2014 Holiday Catalog (since today is the first day).  I thought I might have to really stretch my creative muscles for this color combo and the upcoming holidays.  But I think I found the perfect match, the nutcracker image from the new stamp set Santa Stache.   

I decided to keep the card clean & simple (CAS) to let the nutcracker image shine on it's own.  The new Blendabilities Markers made this an easy image to color.

• Smoky Slate Blendabilities (Light)

Also - did you notice?  The mustache is cut with a matching Mustache Framelit found in the 2014/15 Annual Catalog.  So much fun!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #095: Wondrous Wreath Sneak Peek

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge!  This week it's a Home Sweet Home challenge, and I have another Holiday Catalog sneak peek for you.

The autumn feel of the bowl's contents is what inspired me for today's Wonderous Wreath card.  To be released in the 2014 Holiday Catalog (coming August 28th) - it's a photopolymer stamp set which makes it great for perfect placement of the "3-step" wreath image.  In addition - it has innovative matching framelits...pure genious!

Though designed for the Christmas holiday, I decided a fall wreath would look great too (making this a more versatile set).  In fact, you could probably create a wreath for each of the 4 seasons (hmm...I may have to give that a try.)  The autumn wreath was inked with Baked Brown Sugar, Soft Suede and Tangelo Twist.

The greeting "hello fall", is also from the holiday catalog... "For All Things" stamp set. It was inked with Tangelo Twist and Soft Suede.

The matching framelits makes for a surprisingly quick and easy card.  What do you think...cute, huh?

Vivid Vases and Blendabilities

 

This card was one of my Stamping Club cards.  I never really got a chance to play with the Vivid Vases stamp set, so I was happy to see that it carried over to the  2014/2015 Annual Catalog.  It's perfect for coloring with Stampin' Blendabilities.  Especially if you're just learning how to use them.  With only two colors sets, Coastal Cabana & Daffodil Delight (I used the light and medium markers) - I quickly achieved a fun, summery look. 

Even colored the Rhinestone Basic Jewel with the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities Marker.  The perfect touch!

Ornamental Pines - QC Card (Quick & Easy!) 

My 2nd card features a new stamp set Ornamental Pines (2014 Holiday Catalog - starts 8/28).  I literally whipped this card out just minutes before the blog tour started. Luckily I had something in my head and it translated to cardstock just perfectly.  That doesn't always happen, but when it does...it feels like magic!  I love, love, love the way it turned out.  What do you think?  I think I'll be using it for upcoming card classes and more! 

NOTE: If you have more time, you could even Gold Emboss the pinecone.  Wouldn't that look beautiful?

Dawn's Stamping Tip

• Stamp Very Vanilla pieces (2-1/2" x 4" AND 4" x 5-1/4") at the same time (small piece resting on top of the larger piece).
• You'll get a "gap" where there isn't any stamping.  No problem - the additional layer (2-3/4 x 4-1/4") will cover that up.

This is a variation of "Triple Time Stamping".  Instead of 3 layers, it only uses 2 layers.  For a demonstration of this technqiue, WATCH VIDEO:  Easy Triple Time Stamping Technique
