DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #112: You Plus Me, Occasions Sneak Peek, Catalog Transition

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Sketch Challenge!  

 

Today I have a Quick and Cute (QC) card for you. With Valentines Day less than 2 months away, I thought I'd reach for something new from the Occasions Catalog.  The greeting and heart are from a new set called You Plus Me (137133w, 138594c) .  Even though this set is for Valentines Day, this sentiment can be used to say Thank You too.  I'm always saying "that is sweet of you to say" and now I can stamp a card that matches my sentiment!

The adorable pattern paper is from a new 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" stack called Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack (137779).  I know you love those stacks and you're gonna love this one too!  My favorite feature of this new double sided paper is - one side is White, Calypso Coral, Real Red and Crisp Cantaloupe and the other side is Black and White on all the sheets- woohoo!

Catalog Transition Dates and more

As 2014 is coming to an end, I'm receiving several questions regarding start and end dates of our seasonal catalogs.  Here they are...

Lots of Stars in the Many Merry Stars Kit

I held a local class with Stampin' Up!'s Many Merry Stars Simply Created Kit a few weeks ago (from the Holiday Supplement).  We brought food to share and spent the night assembly classes and learning how to alter one as well.  

The boxes themselves do take a little time to assemble, but are well worth it.  I saved the decorating of my boxes until this weekend when our grandsons were over.  Max and Sam had a fun time adding the decorations to them.  Well I should say - Sam (5) lasted for just a few of them and then he went upstairs to make a blanket fort (smart boy!)  But Max (7) and I finished them up. Lots of fun and the decorating goes fast.

Above is LuAnn putting her star boxes together. Below is Terry showing one of the many ways you could use the star boxes. 

Speaking of ways to use the boxes...there are many.  You can use them for...

• The largest star can take the place of honor on your front door or on your mantel.

Here are the details for Dawn's "Just Cards" Buffet TO GO Class:

1. You'll receive a variety of the card kits shown. You'll receive at least 5 or more different card kits, of which some you'll receive two of, for a total of 8 card kits. (Cards may not be hand selected, as they are packaged randomly.)  However, monthly subscribers will be guaranteed a full selection of card offerings.
2. Card kits include envelopes and the pre-cut card pieces and accessories for you to complete your card.  Adhesive is not included.
3. Details instructions are NOT provided.  Once the class is mailed to you, you will receive an email notice that will include the card kit PDF.  The PDF will include a photo and supply list for each card.  Be sure to save the PDF to your computer to assist you in completing your card.  If you need detailed instructions, this class may not meet your needs.
4. Die cutting and shape punching will be completed for you (without stamped images).  However, most border punching is NOT provided.
5. Texture embossing will be completed for you as well, except when stamping first is necessary. 
6. Stamped images are NOT included in the card kits.  This is in accordance with Stampin' Up! copyright/angel policy.   If you do not have a specific stamp set used for a card, you may purchase them in my online store or you can substitute like-size or styled images.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #111: NEW Ornate Tag Punch Sneak Peek!

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Color Challenge!  

This weeks colors totally scream the holidays, don't they?  And for me, most of my holiday card making is at least designed (now the completed cards...that's another thing.  Guess what I'm doing this weekend?).  But I digress.

I'm always looking for inexpensive treat packaging ideas - for co-workers, teachers, friends and family.  And when my pre-order for the upcoming 2015 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog arrived this week, I reached for the NEW Ornate Tag Topper Punch to make this darling Ghirardelli Candy Treat Holder.

Instructions for Treat Holder:

• 5-1/2" x 2" cardstock
• Score at 2-5/8" & 2-7/8"
• important: score cardstock before punching
• Then punch both ends using NEW Ornate Tag Topper Punch
• 1-3/4" square of DSP (I used Maritime Designer Series Paper!)
• Decorate
• Fold and insert candy
• Tie off with ribbon/trim
• Give to all your friends!

As the "ornateness" (if that's a word) of the punch is hard to see, here's a closer look.  Fun, huh?

Simply Snowflake Treat Box

One of the things I really wanted to make with this card kit was a box.  I had a vision in my head of a simple square box.  But when I tried to make one - my vision didn't translate very well.  So I scratched that idea and opted for a smaller, but more fun Treat Box.

With a couple of extra score lines and a few cuts here & there, you too can be making these fun treat boxes  Your friends will be amazed!  I know I was tickled pink with the way it turned out.  Speaking of pink (and I know you want to know)...the candy I used was found at my local grocery store.  It's called Celebration Sixlets.

Simply Snowflake Pop-Up Gift Card Holder

I'm just over the moon in love with the way this Gift Card Holders turned out.  You can actually get two from one card base.  Just cut the card in half at 5-1/2".

 

I was giddy when I discovered that a gift card could sit nicely displayed on the snowflake die cut.  Plus it kind of "pops up" when you open the holder.  (Sorry for the ugly coupon card - it was the only card I could find at the time)

Used some of the leftover die cut letters & a 1/2" Circle Punch (you'll need to provide) to decorate the front of the gift card holder.  What a fun way to wrap up your gift cards this year!
