DOstamperSTARS Thursday Color Challenge #129: Sketched Birthday

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Color My World challenge.

 

What happy colors for this week's challenge!  So a birthday card was definitely the direction I wanted to go.  You'll actually find these colors in the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper pack. Though, you gotta look pretty close up to find Pistachio Pudding on my card; but it's there.  In addition, I used the soon-to-be-retired Sketched Birthday stamp set.

Sketched Birthday Cupcake Medallion:

• Stamp cupcake image twice (Strawberry Slush, Bermuda Bay)
• Punch the Strawberry Slush one with the 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch
• Staple Coastal Cabana Thick Baker's Twine near edge and tie in a bow
• Punch the Bermuda Bay one with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch
• Color with Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana Markers (use a light touch)
• Use Two-Way Glue Pen to add Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the "frosting"
• Adhere to scallop with Stampin' Dimensionals

Sketched Birthday is actually one my favorites that I will miss.  Be sure to get yours before it's gone for good!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #128: Feel Goods with Reverse Mask Stamping

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Home Sweet Home photo inspiration challenge.

When I saw this week's Thursday Challenge I was kind of stumped.  My first thought was of the "sunshine" greeting from the Feel Goods stamp set.  Then next...how to create the sunshine.  And it hit me...there's a "sunshine" stencil (mask) in the Hooray It's Your Day Card Kit.  So that's where I started.

 

When I started playing around with the mask, I found I wasn't really getting the look I was going for...the rays AND a sun. Then it hit me...use the mask like a stamp, which is where the "reverse mask stamping" comes in to play. Here's what I did...

Reverse Mask Stamping

• Ink up the mask itself using ink refills (Daffodil Delight & Rose Red) and Stampin' Sponges. Randomly dab on the color.
• Liberally spritz the inked up mask with water (spritzer came with the kit - woohoo!)
• Place a piece of Watercolor Paper onto mask, press and hold to make sure the paper absorbs the ink and water.
• Remove paper from the mask and delight in your awesomeness!
• (Hmm...I'm feeling a How'd She DO That? video coming in the future.  What do you think?)

NOTE: Let dry before stamping the greeting.  Also...I recommend stamping the greeting with Stazon Jet Black Ink.  I tried the Memento ink and the results were disappointing; not nice and crisp like the Stazon.

Now that I've cracked open the Hooray It's Your Day Project Kit, I may have to play with it some more!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #127: Sew You & Word Bubbles

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Sketch Pad challenge

This week's Thursday Challenge Sketch screamed birthday to me.  So I reached for the Sew You Paper Pumpkin kit (March 2015).  Oh my gosh - I'm lovin' this kit's printed cards, embroidery thread and stamp set...great images, just perfect for today's sketch

I paired the Sew You Paper Pumpkin greetings with the Word Bubbles Framelits Dies (of course!). However - after running them through the Big Shot, BUT before removing the cardstock from the framelit, I traced the inside with a Project Life Journaling Pen.  Woohoo - I'm loving this look.  Why didn't I think of it before?!

HSDT Fun Fold #1: Origami Shadowbox Fold

Today I'm excited to announce that I'm kicking off a series of How'd She DO That? Fun Fold Videos.  Whether it's a fancy card fold or a folded focal point, be sure to check back each week to see what's new.

This week's Fun Fold HSDT Video is an quick and easy one...Origami Shadowbox Fold.  It's been many years since I've done one and I thought we'd ease into the series with an easy fold.  All you need is a 4" square of Designer Series Paper, bone folder and pencil (optional) - then add it to a card or scrapbook page.

Same card, same paper...just different.  What's different?  The DSP is folded in the other direction with more of the Daffodil Delight side showing.  In fact, that may be the hardest decision you'll have to make with the Origami Shadowbox Fold...which side of DSP to feature.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #126: Awesome Color Combo!

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Color Challenge!

I was excited for this week's challenge because of the awesome color combo.  However, when I reached for Garden Green - I must not have been paying attention, because I grabbed Wild Wasabi. I think it turned out just fine, but I wanted to put that disclaimer out there - ha!

I knew as soon as I saw the color combo that I would use the Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I hadn't yet played with it and it will gone in just two short months.  So I grabbed my old friend Stippled Blossoms and searched for a greeting that would work well with it.  I'm love both the greetings from the Butterfly Basics stamp set - so that's what I used (I can see I'll be using them a lot in the future).

Come in for a closer look, you'll see a couple little details:

• The twine is attached with the Handheld Stapler (love doing that!).  Flowers are from theItty Bitty Accents Punch Packt punch pack and Gold Sequins were added with Glue Dots.
• The textured part of the card is done with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  It's a separate piece (4-1/4" x 2-1/4").  Run through the folder twice.  The 2nd time - just flip it over and you'll get a kinda of "basket weave" pattern!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #125: Beautiful Bunch Easter Card

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Home Sweet Home Challenge!  

For today's Thursday Challenge, my eyes were immediately drawn to the Melon Mambo Gerber Daisies.  So I reached for the Beautiful Bunch stamp set & matching Fun Flower Punch and did my best to create them with stamps, ink & paper. See what you think...

I created the flowers as follows:

• Stamp flower image with Melon Mambo ink onto Pink Pirouette cardstock - twice
• Stamp flower image with Rose Red ink onto Melon Mambo cardstock - twice
• Punch all four flowers with Fun Flower punch
• Stamp flower image Tangerine Tango onto Daffodil Delight cardstock - twice
• Punch the center of the flowers with the 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch
• Assemble the flowers with two flower punch outs and one center.
• Enjoy!

Well, considering I don't have any Easter stamps, I think this came out pretty good (don't you think?)

I think I must have met Dawn shortly after she started (12 years ago). I've been her customer since then. Every time I would host a party, she would ask me if I wanted to join. Here are the details for Dawn's "Just Cards" Buffet TO GO Class:

1. You'll receive a variety of the card kits shown. You'll receive at least 5 or more different card kits, of which some you'll receive two of, for a total of 8 card kits. (Cards may not be hand selected, as they are packaged randomly.)  However, monthly subscribers will be guaranteed a full selection of card offerings.
2. Card kits include envelopes and the pre-cut card pieces and accessories for you to complete your card.  Adhesive is not included.
3. Details instructions are NOT provided.  Once the class is mailed to you, you will receive an email notice that will include the card kit PDF.  The PDF will include a photo and supply list for each card.  Be sure to save the PDF to your computer to assist you in completing your card.  If you need detailed instructions, this class may not meet your needs.
4. Die cutting and shape punching will be completed for you (without stamped images).  However, most border punching is NOT provided.
5. Texture embossing will be completed for you as well, except when stamping first is necessary. 
6. Stamped images are NOT included in the card kits.  This is in accordance with Stampin' Up! copyright/angel policy.   If you do not have a specific stamp set used for a card, you may purchase them in my online store or you can substitute like-size or styled images.

HSDT Video: Flower Pot Hexagon Punch Window Card

Wow - you all really liked the Hexagon Punch Sale-a-Bration card I shared here.  I did too.  I couldn't stop playing with it.  So I pulled out another favorite DSP of mine, the Flower Pot Designer Series Paper (just in time for spring)!

The Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack is a perfect accent for this card.  With a star, flower & heart shapes, you can make a card for almost any occasion. 

I had tons of fun playing around with different color combinations and the Petite Pairs stamp set greetings.  Can't decide which is my favorite.  For tips on making this card, be sure to watch the How'd She DO That? video below (HSDT).
