DOstamperSTARS Challenge #162: Large Numbers Happy New Year!

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Color My World challenge. 

Given that it's New Year's Eve, I went the obvious route with today's color scheme...a Happy New Year's card.  I combined some "old" with some "new" and came up with a fun card to bring in 2016!

What's "old"?  Six Sayings stamp set (retiring soon!)

• I'm on a mission to use every image from the Six Sayings stamp set.  It's really one of my all-time favorites Stampin' Rewards set (a free choice when you place a $150 or more order).  You'll find it in the 2015 Holiday Catalog and it's retiring January 4th.  So you only have a few days left to get it before it's gone!
• The greeting is die cut with the Tags & Labels Framelits Dies.  It was a perfect fit!

What's "new"?  Large Numbers Framelit Dies and Balloon Bouquet Punch (2016 Occasions Catalog - coming Jan 5th)

• Large Numbers Framelit Dies:  These dies are awesome...l lined all 4 numbers up on Gold Glimmer Paper, and one pass thru the Big Shot and they are ready to go!  In addition - there is a coordinating stamp set (Number of Years), and yes...bundle and save 15% (140653).
• Balloon Bouquet Punch:  finally a balloon punch and it punches two sizes!  It too has a coordinating stamp set (Balloon Celebration) and yes...bundle and save 15% (140810).  I punched the balloons out of Silver Foil Sheets.

So, where did those tiny little stars come from?  Good question...the Confetti Stars Punch.  They are so small, that I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere them to the balloons. What to do with the leftover stars (as there are lots of them)?  Put them inside your card for a fun surprise when they open your card -woohoo!  That tip comes courtesy of my husband.

Holiday Cards & Gifts from DOstamperSTARS

I've been receiving the loveliest holiday cards from my DOstamperSTARS Team Members.  I thought I'd share them with you today.

Linda's card is probably my favorite, as it took my breath away when I opened it.  It's hard to see in the photo, but the wreath is gold embossed.  It's just stunning.

This cute gift is from June and I'm impressed that she remembered that I have a thing for hedgehogs.  It's been a long time since I mentioned that.  Actually - it's hedgehogs and beavers, and it dates back to when I ran a Girl Scout Day Camp for several years when my girls were in scouts.  What sweet memories!

Aren't they all just lovely?  I just love our STARS Community.  They enrich my life in many ways. Thank you STARS!

Put your Oh What Fun Tags to use!

Do you remember the Oh What Fun Tags Project Kit I shared a several weeks ago?  This kit makes 30 tags and I'm starting to use them up for my holiday packaging.  Here's a few ideas I've used them with...

Here's one added to a gift bag for my postal carrier.  Each year my husband makes a fabulous quick bread called Wine Bread, which we gift to our family, friends and neighbors.  Our mail person gets one too.  She's a fabulous mail person who always thanks me for using USPS for my deliveries - even when she has to back up her truck into my driveway to haul six big bins to her truck...always with a smile.  I so appreciate her, as she makes my life easier!

These were a treat for my husband's co-workers.  I just whipped up a few Mini Treat Bags using the Real Red Envelope Paper (love this paper...it would be great for birthday treats too!  It's on sale right now, perfect excuse to stock up!).  In goes the treat and just attach the tags with Clothespins

The actual treat was a gift from one my STARS, Judy Strickling.  She knows I have a sweet tooth for Twix Bars.  With 18 in a pack, I knew I would be sharing them.  My grandkids have been eyeing them to, so I'm sure they will find one in their stockings (among other fun things).  Thanks Judy!

In addition, I've already started add them to my holiday packages.  I think I may go through all 30 tags after all.  I'm so happy with this kit.  It was fun to make and I'm thankful I have them all done and ready to go!  You can still get this Oh What Fun Tags Project Kit.  It's actually one of the retiring items on sale - now for only $14.70.  Stock up now for next year!

DOstamperSTARS Challenge #161: Home For Christmas Quilt Card

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Home Sweet Home challenge. 

I really like this week's home inspiration photo...beautiful holiday decor.  Reminds me of my Christmas tree.  We put it up a couple of weeks ago with the help of our grandsons.  It's a holiday tradition where they spend the night and decorate the tree with us.  We also typically go out for dinner and look at the neighborhood lights along the way.  I haven't shared their photos in awhile, so you might be surprised at how big they are getting.  Max is now 8-1/2 and Sammy is 6-1/2.

But I digress...back to the card.  Recently one of my YouTube readers suggested making a Christmas themed quilt card and I thought that was a great idea.  So I reached for the fabulous holiday, Home For Christmas Designer Series Paper for today's card.  The images on these papers are perfect for a quilt card, as you can showcase so many of the cute holiday images on just one card!  

See how cute that is!  Just use your 1" square punch to crop right in on the perfect array of images!

• The greeting is from the To You and Yours too stamp set.  
• It fits nicely in the Label Bracket Punch.  
• Cherry Cobbler twine was attached with the Handheld Stapler.  
• Rhinestones were colored with a red Sharpie Marker.

If you're anything like me, you have scraps of pattern paper laying around just waiting to be used.  Now you can use them up!

In the meantime, don't forget that some (including today's stamp set and paper) of your favorite Holiday Catalog items are retiring and some are on sale too.

Woodland Texture Folder Stamping Technique Video

Last month for my local stamping club class, I taught this fun stamping technique...Texture Folder Stamping.  We used the Woodland folder that is retiring (and is now sold out).  At first I wasn't going to do a How'd She DO That? video.  But guess what?  Stampin' Up! made an unprecedented announcement that they will be bringing this popular folder back...woohoo!

Stampin' Up! announcement..."The Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item 139673) has been so popular that we are going to do something that we don't normally do: we've decided to bring it back in the 2016 annual catalog! ...While bringing an item out of retirement is not something we generally do, we just couldn't ignore the fact that you sold so many of these embossing folders!"

When I heard that announcement, I thought..."OK, I'll do a video", so my December TO GO Club Members can see this fabulous technique in action, and you can too!  For those of you that already own the Woodland Texture Folder, you'll enjoy this video.  For those of you who have yet to purchase it - be sure to add it to your wish list to purchase when it returns in the new 2016 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog (coming June 2016).

9 Stampin' Up! Happy Scenes, Hearth & Home Thinlits Swaps

I've received several requests to post some of the samples I shared on my last How'd She DO That? video showing the Glittered Window Technique (by the way...wow, you guys are lovin' that video!).  I know many of you enjoy pinning these to your Pinterest boards.

Happy Scenes stamp set with the Hearth & Home Thinlits is a fabulous bundle (saves 15%).  Though, you'll want to note that the Happy Scenes stamp set is retiring, but NOT the Thinlits.  In addition, there'll be a new stamp set in the 2016 Occasions Catalog with all new scenes (coming January 5th) - yay!  I love that Stampin' Up! is creating additional scenes for these Thinlits.

This card created by Angela McKay has to be one my favorites from all the swaps I received this past fall.  I just love everything about it.  The way she used the Brick Wall Texture Impressions Embossing Folder, the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack, the Snowflake Elements, etc.  The card is just perfect!
