Simply Wonderful: Bridal Shower Congrats

If you're anything like me, you've probably got some spring weddings and bridal showers on your calendar.  Today's card using the Sale-a-Bration Simply Wonderful stamp set is perfect for either occasion.  But I think I really like it for a bridal shower, as I sometimes have a hard time coming up with something for bridal showers.

To attach the Best Year Ever ribbon, I just used Stampin' Up!'s Handheld Stapler and stapled it in a couple places to the Pool Party Deco Label Framelit die cut.  Makes this a QC card and perfect for those who are bow challenged.  Don't forget to add the Silver Mini Staples to your shopping bag when you purchase the Handheld Stapler.

Meet newly married Michelle A...,

In high school, a friend and I found a locally-owned stamp shop and started pooling our money to buy supplies. Around that time, my mom came across a lady at work that sold SU! on the side, so she bought me my first SU! sets for Christmas. After that, I went to college and hobbies kind of fell to the wayside. After college, I started scrapbooking & in doing so met a gal that was a hobby demo. I really loved her work and products, so I bought a few things from her over the course of a few years (usually right at Sale-A-Bration). We lost touch, and I decided to try it out myself. I "googled" uplines and found Dawn.  I picked her because she had something about hedgehogs on her site, and I love hedgehogs. We met in person, and hit it off, and the rest is history.

Petal Potpourri Bundle with SAB Simply Wonderful

OK, I have to admit...at first glance of the Petal Potpourri Bundle (with Flower Medallion Punch), I told myself I didn't need another flower punch  & stamp. But I ended up getting it anyways (the attraction of the "bundle" savings is just too much for the accountant in me - ha!)  And guess what?  Once I started playing with it, I decided I really liked it after all.  Does that happen to you?

Today's QC cards are a Petal Potpourri Bundle catalog "case" (copy and share everything).  Sometimes to just get the creative juices going with a stamp set, I like to pull out the catalog and copy Stampin' Up!'s sample .  I was inspired by the one shown on page 23 of the 2015 Occasions Catalog.

You'll notice that mine is not exactly the same.  I "Dawn-ified" it.  Meaning, I put my own twist on it.

I wanted to use the buttons from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack and couldn't decide on a color combination, so I created two cards:

• Calypso Coral & Crisp Cantaloupe
• Pistachio Pudding & Rich Razzleberry (with Crushed Curry)
• Leaves are Wild Wasabi 

Ooh - if you look close at the white "tag", you'll see that it has grid lines on it.  That's the Project Life 4" X 3" Grid Cards (cut down to 4" x 2-1/2").  They come in a pack of 50.  I think I may be reaching for these more often as I really like the subtle look of the grid lines.  It adds a little visual texture to the card. 

The greeting is from the Sale-a-Bration Simply Wonderful stamp set - it's filled with several wonderful greetings and is only available with a $50 purchase for a few more days(ends March 31st).

HSDT Video: Something Lacy Meets Irresistibly Yours DSP

One of the three projects my club members made this month featured the Sale-a-Bration Designer Series Paper called Irresistibly Yours.   If you haven't gotten this paper yet (free with $50 order) or if you haven't played with it yet...it's so much fun! 

The card we made was inspired by my friend and fellow demonstrator, Linda Heller.  Her brilliant stamping and brayer technique idea was just awesome and I knew I had to share it with my club members.  Above is my take on her card.

Stamp Brayer Combination Resist Technique

• Using Something Lacy background stamp, stamp onto Irresistibly Yours paper with Memento Ink
• Press scrap paper over stamping to remove excess ink
• Use a paper towel or tissue to remove the rest of the excess ink from the embossed areas
• Ink up brayer with Soft Sky ink
• Brayer ink over entire panel.  Repeat until you get the desired shade of color
• Use paper towel to remove the excess ink that "resisted" over the embossed areas
• Stand back and admire your handiwork!

Just a little bling with the Something Borrowed Embellishments.  It adds just the right touch to finish off this beautiful card. (Side note: my sister, Jill is in one of my clubs and she tried to call "dibs" on sending this card to one of our cousins who is getting married soon.  Well, she may get two of the same card!)

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #125: Beautiful Bunch Easter Card

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Home Sweet Home Challenge!  

For today's Thursday Challenge, my eyes were immediately drawn to the Melon Mambo Gerber Daisies.  So I reached for the Beautiful Bunch stamp set & matching Fun Flower Punch and did my best to create them with stamps, ink & paper. See what you think...

I created the flowers as follows:

• Stamp flower image with Melon Mambo ink onto Pink Pirouette cardstock - twice
• Stamp flower image with Rose Red ink onto Melon Mambo cardstock - twice
• Punch all four flowers with Fun Flower punch
• Stamp flower image Tangerine Tango onto Daffodil Delight cardstock - twice
• Punch the center of the flowers with the 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch
• Assemble the flowers with two flower punch outs and one center.
• Enjoy!

Well, considering I don't have any Easter stamps, I think this came out pretty good (don't you think?)

I think I must have met Dawn shortly after she started (12 years ago). I've been her customer since then. Every time I would host a party, she would ask me if I wanted to join. I always wanted to, but I'm not big on talking in front of groups and I'm not very pushy about asking people to buy.
