It's not too lake to get in on a Holiday Catalog Product Share 

DOstamperSTARS Challenge #146: Watercolor Words Omitting Technique

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Home Sweet Home challenge. 

OK, when you see my card, you're probably gonna say to yourself..."what, was she thinking?"  Well, let me explain.  When I saw this week's challenge photo I focused in on the backpack itself, which made me think of back-to-school, which led me to the Schoolhouse Designer Series Paper, which led me to my card's color combo and...that's how I got here.  Now you know how my mind thinks...racing here and there!

The layout is something I saw on a display board at convention and I've been waiting for just the right time to use it.  I think it works perfectly with the Watercolor Words Stamp Set .  Speaking of Watercolor Words...this set is so outside my wheelhouse.  I'm not typically drawn to this style of stamps.  But I recently gave in and now I'm so excited about this stamp set and it's endless possibilities!

I think any kid would love to receive a "hooray for you" card for their accomplishments.  Hmm...probably any adult would too!  Though, that particular greeting isn't one stamp.  I combined two stamp images..."hooray" and "Just FOR You".  However, I needed to enlist the omitting technique to achieve it.

Omitting Technique

Omitting is when you ink only the word(s) you want to use (omitting the ones you don't want to use). For this stamp, I omitted the word "just".  Omitting ink on one word is SO easy to do with a photopolymer set, as you can see exactly where the ink is going.  You should give it a try. 

The "for you" could be used in several different ways with this stamp set...  

• hooray...for you
• hope...for you
• love...you

Here's a birthday version, which was one of the cards I offered at my local card buffet class a couple nights ago.  This is the card that spawned me asking the question..."Are you sick of the "stapler trick"yet?  There was a resounding, "NO, we love that trick!"  Phfew...I know I've been using it a lot lately, but I really like how easy it is to do.  It allows you to add that last little touch that finishes the card off perfectly.  How about you...have you tried it yet?  Don't you just love it?

2015 Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek: Your Presents (not just for Christmas)

At the Stampin' Up! convention in July, we got a chance to play with one of the new stamp sets from the upcoming 2015 Holiday Catalog, called Your Presents.  I might have overlooked this stamp set, so it was good to be able to give it a test drive.

The images in this set were designed to be used individually or together using the "kissing technique".

Kissing Technique (for present image above)

• Use two stamps. Typically a solid stamp and a pattern stamp (diagonal stamp used above)
• Ink one or both of them (solid stamp inked in Mint Macaron, diagonal stamp inked in Garden Green)
• Touch them together (be careful not to let the stamps slide) - transferring pattern stamp image to the solid stamp.
• Stamp the solid image onto cardstock. 
• Stand back and ooh & aah!

Both of the presents on the right feature the kissing technique with a twist...

2 More Ways of Kissing Technique

• For the bottom present, the solid image was inked in Mint Macaron and the pattern image wasn't inked at all.  When it "kisses" the solid image - it removes the ink, leaving white space.  Then stamp solid image on paper.
• For the top present, the solid image is left uninked.  Stamp the diagonal image with Watermelon Wonder on to solid image stamp, then turn 90 degrees, ink and stamp again onto the solid image stamp to create the "plaid" design.  Then stamp solid image on paper

I received this card from fellow demonstrator, Linda Persoon for my birthday this month.  The star images are from Perpetual Birthday Calendar Stamp Set (137167) and the greeting is from B.Y.O.P. Stamp Set (137159)

As you can see from these last two cards, the Your Presents stamp set is not just for Christmas, making this a set you can use all year-long.

DOstamperSTARS Challenge #145: Acorny Thank You

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Sketch challenge. 

I really like this week's Sketch Pad Challenge.  The diagonally placed panel may throw you off a little bit, but all you need to do is adhere a piece of paper on a little bit of an angle, then trim the top and side off.  I started with a piece of Into The Woods Designer Series Paper measuring 3-5/8" x 5".

If you took the August 2015 Control Freaks Tour, you might notice that today's card matches my Acorny Thank You Pillow Treat Pouch.  I hadn't put the supplies away yet, so I thought a matching card might be nice!

Acorny Thank You Pillow Treat Pouch 

 

As soon as I laid my eyes on the new Square Pillow Box Thinlit, I immediately thought of an open-ended treat pouch.  I was hoping my idea would work out as I envisioned, as my pre-order just arrived (not giving me much time for experimenting).  Well luck would have it - it worked out perfectly.

Here's a closer look at all the fun new details!  Lovin' the new Into The Woods collection (wood leaf and designer series paper).  Also - isn't that acorn cute?  That's from the new fall stamp set, Acorny Thank You.  Guess what...it has a matching punch!

Lighthearted Leaves

 

Lighthearted Leaves is one of my favorite stamp sets from the new 2015 Holiday Catalog.  Plus, I like that they coordinate with the Leaflets Framelits from the Annual Catalog.

For my card today, I pulled out an oldie but goodie stamping technique...Baby Wipes.  Basically you create your own stamp pad with ink refills.  The large leaves are Blackberry Bliss and Pool Party.  The small leaves are Old Olive and Pool Party.  I love the way this turned out...don't you?

Sharing Cards from my DOstamperSTARS!
