Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek: Grateful Bunch Triple Panel Card with Embellishment Trick!
December 28, 2015
Grateful Bunch...this was the first stamp set & punch bundle I gravitated to from the Stampin' Up! 2016 Occasions Catalog (coming January 5th). The stamp set includes a 3-flower image that coordinates with the new Blossom Bunch Punch.
Sometimes when I get a new stamp set, I like to kind of get going with a warm-up stamping session. One way of doing that is by using something old with something new. For today's card, I used an old layout that I thought would work nice with my new stamps. I'm happy with the results. Take a look...
This 3-panel card is a great QC layout (quick & cute). Just select three colors and stamp away! I used colors from the 2014-2016 In Color Collection (Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss and Tangelo Twist). And while you're at it you may as well make three cards, as you'll get enough flowers to mix and match up your panels. Speaking of panels...
- Top panel = 3-3/4" x 1-1/2"
- Middle panel = 3-3/4" x 1-3/4"
- Bottom panel = 3-3/4" x 2"
Now for the embellishment trick...
Take a closer look and you'll notice a White Perfect Accent in the center of the flower. But hmm...it doesn't look white. That's because I had a "happy accident" while making this card. I placed a White Perfect Accent to the center of a flower and then tried to remove it (because it wasn't the look I was going for). As I removed it - the white backing stuck to the flower and the clear "dome" detached. At first I was disappointed because I thought they were white all the way through. But then I got excited. Woohoo...new "clear" embellishment option! I quickly removed the backing from 3 accents, 1 of each size. And voila...they fit perfectly in the center of each of the flower sizes (with a glue dot) and allowed the cute detailed centers to show through. Yay...insert happy dance!
Note: I used the tip of my Paper Snips Scissors to scrape the edge of the backing away and then was able to pull it apart. A Paper-Piercing Tool would work too.
Speaking of "happy accidents"...when I was assembling this card, I first put the middle panel on upside down. As I was quickly fixing it, I thought..."hmm...that looks kinda of cool." Which do you prefer? Blackberry Bliss flower on the left or right?
Either way - I'm happy with the way it turned out. It led to new discoveries, which is always fun! I think the Grateful Bunch Bundle (140801) is a must-have from the new 2016 Occasions Catalog. Be sure to add it to your wish-list for January 5th.
