DOstamperSTARS Challenge #166: A Nice Cuppa Bundle

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Sketch Pad challenge. 

 

Seriously, today's Sketch Pad challenge wasn't a challenge at all...it was very easy and came together quickly!  Create a tag and add some punched or die cut shapes, and you're half-way there!  For me - I reached for something I hadn't yet played with from the 2016 Occasions Catalog...A Nice Cuppa stamp set and coordinating Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies, bundled to save 15%.  I'm not a tea or coffee person, so I probably wouldn't ordinarily purchase a set like. but with fun shapes and cute images, it was hard to resist!

 What else was hard to resist?  The simply adorable...

• Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper (1" x 4")
• Have a Cuppa Embellishments (spoon, teapot & lemon shaped silver embellishments)!

Take a closer look...the large Melon Mambo heart is punched with the Sweetheart punch.  Then to give it a little interest, I layered the same color decorative heart die from the Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies.  Tip:  the Fine Tip Glue Pen is the perfect adhesive choice to adhere the detailed die cut heart.

Featured STAR: Bernadette Baio Valentine's Day Punch Art

Today I'm sharing some cards sent to me by one of my DOstamperSTAR team members, Bernadette Baio.  She's a big fan of punch art and created three fabulous Valentine's Day themed punch art cards.  Take a look...

TIP:  The rose is made with the Bird Builder Punch

 

TIP:  The flowers are made with the new Blossom Bunch Punch

 

1/28 eta:
I've received several requests for instructions for the shirt/tie card.  Here you go...

• Pocket: 1-3/8" x 1-3/4" (fold down about 1/4")
• Collar:  1-1/2" x 4-1/4" Thick Whisper White.  Fold sides inwards at a diagonal and adhere near top of card.
• Card: 4" x 9-1/2" Thick Whisper White.  Score and fold at 4-3/4"
• Tie
  • start with 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of cardstock
  • fold paper in half long-wise. 
  • diagonal fold the two bottom corners in about 1" on each side to meet in center (this creates the bottom "point" of the tie) 
  • fold both sides in at a slight diagonal starting about one-third of the way in at the top to about 1/2" in over at the bottom (will fold over previous fold)
  • trim off anything that "hangs over the edges"
  • glue all folds together.  it will look like a kite but flat at the top
• Knot:
  • 1-3/4" x 7/8" piece of cardstock
  • fold each side inward at a diagonal so the corner "tips" touch and glue together (looks like a little "basket") 
  • adhere to top of tie, then to card

Didn't she do a fabulous job?  When asked by Bernadette which one was my favorite, I replied "I love them all".  Though the "table setting" card is very clever, so that is probably my most favorite.  How about you...which one is your favorite?

11 More Milwaukee On Stage Shoebox Swap Samples

DOstamperSTARS Challenge #165: Stained Glass Rose Wonder

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a Color My World challenge. 

Stained Glass Rose Garden

• Big Shot "sandwich" from bottom:  Multipurpose Platform, Precision Base Plate, cardstock, die, cutting pad 
• Using Rose Garden Thinlits to die cut Basic Black "outline" pieces.:
  • (1) small rose 
  • (1) three leaves image from the large rose/leaves thinlit (cut away one of the leaves)
  • TIP: Remove detailed pieces using the Big Shot Die Brush
• Die cut colored pieces:
  • (3) small roses from Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, Rose Red cardstock
  • (2) three leaves image from Garden Green, Wild Wasabi cardstock
  • TIP:  DO NOT REMOVE detailed pieces - keep die cut in "one piece" and slide onto piece of copy paper underneath to keep everything together (see photo below)
• Assemble flower:
  • Position (do not adhere yet) black rose & leaves onto 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White.  
  • Use a pencil inside the images to draw an outline.  Remove die cuts and add adhesive all over the area within the outline.  (I used snail adhesive)
  • Now adhere black rose/leaves die cuts into place and continue on by filling in with the various colored pieces to complete the flower/leaves.
• Enjoy!

(leave pieces together and slide copy paper underneath)

Add Clear Wink of Stella for a beautiful touch of glimmer.  The photo does not do it justice.  In real life - the shimmer is gorgeous!

I hope you enjoyed this card.  I actually began playing with it and along the way discovered some of the tips I shared above.  I think you'll find they will help save time as you put all the pieces back into place - just like a puzzle.

Control Freaks: Love is in the Air with Stampin' Up! Rose Wonder

Rose Wonder Color Wash Card

I couldn't do a love-theme without a wedding card.  And the new Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog Rose Wonder stamp is perfect for just that.  With it's beautiful flower image and lovely greetings for inside and outside, it's definitely a must-have stamp set.

This card came about as I was experimenting with different ways to ink and color the rose image.  I wanted something quick and easy for my style of stamping, yet would achieve a gorgeous result.  This was one of those cards that on the very first try, what was in my head translated perfectly, and I was thrilled with the results.  And you will be too.

Color Wash Tips

• Mount stamp onto clear block F
• Place block on your stamp table with stamp facing up.  
• Ink image by holding the stamp pad in your hand and tap directly onto the stamp.  Rose Red onto the flower image area and Garden Green onto the leaves image area
• Stamp onto 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Shimmery White cardstock (this paper can withstand water).  TIP:  place Stampin' Pierce Mat underneath cardstock for a good even stamping surface.
• With an Aqua Painter quickly brush water over the image, washing the color around the rose, then washing the color around the leaves.  I added just a bit more color to the center of the rose to create a little depth.
• Let dry and finish card.

With Valentine's Day fast approaching I thought I'd also share a quick and cute card using Love Blossoms products...
