DOstamperSTARS Challenge #180: Color with Wink of Stella

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a "Color My World" challenge. 

When I saw today's color combo I immediately thought masculine, right?  However, I decided to challenge myself and make something other than masculine.  So I reached for a floral stamp set I haven't used much called, Best Thoughts.  It is a Stampin' Rewards exclusive set that you can choose when your order (or party) reaches $150 or more.   View all the soon-to-be-retired Stampin' Rewards choices.  Note: they are not available for "regular purchase", only with Stampin' Rewards.

Another reason I reached for a floral set is, I just held my club class last night and taught my club members to color with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.  We actually used the Birthday Blooms set and they has so much fun.  For today's card, I decided to use Best Thoughts one last time before saying good-bye.

Wink of Stella Coloring Tips

• Stamp flower image with Early Espresso ink on a 4-3/4" x 3-1/8" piece of Very Vanilla cardstock - let dry
• Use the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to paint stamped image.
  • Squeeze a couple drops of ink refills into a small container (like an empty button container) 
    • Center of flowers = Daffodil Delight
    • Flowers = Marina Mist
    • Leaves & stem = Old Olive
  • Note:  Ink refills work the best, but you could press a corner of a piece of a window sheet (plastic sheet) to the ink pad to transfer some ink to it.  Then pick up ink from that.  I don't recommend using the inside lid of the inkpads or you might transfer glitter to your pad
  • Tip#1: I like to pick up the ink color and pull some it off as it's a little too dark for me at first.  You can always add more color for depth.
  • Tip#2: to change colors, just wipe off on a paper towel until the color is clear again.
• Let dry and admire your results!

Seriously - it's as easy as that.  Even my club members who don't usually enjoy coloring were lovin' it.  Everyone's results were stunning.

This photo doesn't do it justice.  It's hard to capture the shine of the results, but trust me...it's gorgeous!  You'll really feel like an artist when you paint with a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush...give it a try!

April Paper Pumpkin Bonus: All About Everything

Here's my last card using the bonus stamp set, All About Everything from the April 2016 Paper Pumpkin Kit.  I'm back with a Melon Mambo color combo, which I've decided is my favorite!

Dawn's Stamping Details:

• Stamp floral images on 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White cardstock, starting with largest to smallest:
  1. Large Flower = Melon Mambo (stamp off first)
  2. Small Flower = Melon Mambo
  3. Dotted Flower = Melon Mambo
  4. Flower Center = Daffodil Delight (stamp off for large flower)
  5. Large Leaf = Pear Pizzazz
  6. Small Leaf = Old Olive
• Punch two corners with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch (retiring)
• Adhere to 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock
• Adhere to 4-1/4" x 11" piece of folded Melon Mambo cardstock (for card base)

• Punch 2" x 2-1/4" piece of Whisper White with Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  Stamp greeting and color flowers with Subtles Stampin' Write Markers:
  • Pink Pirouette and Old Olive
• Tie on about 8-10" of Basic Black Baker's Twine and adhere to card with Stampin' Dimensionals
• Attach two Rhinestone Basic Jewels
• Enjoy!

Happy Mother's Day with April's Paper Pumpkin Kit!

Here's a few more ideas using the bonus stamp set, All About Everything from the April 2016 Paper Pumpkin Kit

Today's cards use the panels I stamped and shared on Thursday, for the DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  It's panel 2 & 3.  

It's basically the same card as Thursday's, just a different placement of the greeting tag.

New Sneak Peek: Moroccan Nights

One of the all-attendee give-a-ways at the Stampin' Up! On Stage last month was the stamp set, Moroccan Nights.  I'm intrigued by the large medallion image and created card featuring it, along with one of the new In Colors, Dapper Denim.  Both available starting June 1st. 

Dawn's Moroccan Nights Stamping Details:

• Randomly stamp medallion image from Moroccan Nights stamp set with Dapper Denim ink on a 4-1/4" square piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • Tip for better stamp impressions when stamping on colored cardstock:  
    • It's important to really ink up the stamp really well.  Spend some time to make sure you have an even coverage of ink on the stamp.
    • After pressing the stamp to the cardstock, give it a little extra pressure and a little extra time to let the ink soak into the cardstock
• Use Wink of Stella Gold and flick on gold specks:
  • squeeze a little extra down into the brush
  • hold over stamped piece
  • give it a good couple of whacks and let the flecks fly - ha!  But seriously, I had to hit it with quite of bit of force.  Experiment with it, the results are definitely worth it!
• Set aside to dry 

• Fold 11" x 4-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock in half
• Stamp border image approx. 1/2" from each side of the card front, with Dapper Denim.
• Wrap 18" of both Linen Thread and Metallic Gold thread around card front and tie in a bow.
• Adhere dried stamped panel to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Center in between borders.
• Use Rose Wonder Bundle to stamp and die cut frame & greeting images on scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock with Dapper Denim.  Adhere to card with Stampin' Dimensionals

I wasn't sure about this set, but I'm completely head of heels in love with the medallion image.  Lots of ways to use it.  From basic stamping to fun techniques (ie: baby wipe technique, Joseph's coat and more!) 

Also - I'm finding myself reaching for the Rose Wonder Bundle a lot,  With it's greetings for both inside and out, it's a great staple for your stamping collection.  Yes, the Rose Wonder stamp set and coordinating Rose Garden Thinlit Dies will be in the new catalog, but not in a bundle.  So save 15% now before the Rose Wonder Bundle pricing disappears!

Note:  this card was difficult to photograph (to capture the gold flecks).  I have to say, it looks way better in real life!

DOstamperSTARS Challenge #179: April Paper Pumpkin Bonus Stamp Floral Card

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge. 

When I saw this week's photo inspiration, I thought I might reach for the Rose Wonder Bundle.  It would have been a good choice.  But instead, I really wanted to play with the fun & free Paper Pumpkin bonus stamp set that was a gift included with the April kit, All About Everything!

The colors were easy, as I pulled them from the photo and away I stamped.  However, I had to experiment a little before I landed on my favorite color combo of Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive.

Dawn's Stamping Details for panel #1

• Randomly stamp images on 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White.
• Start with the largest images working down to the smallest images
  • Large flower = Melon Mambo (stamp off)
  • Small Flower = Melon Mambo
  • Dotted Flower = Melon Mambo
  • Large Leaf = Pear Pizzazz
  • Small Leaf = Old Olive
  • 3-lines image = Daffodil Delight (stamp in center of small flower, stamp off for center of large flower)
• Stand by and enjoy your creation!

Tag Details:

• Punch 2" x 3" piece of Whisper White cardstock with Tag Topper Scallop Punch
• Stamp greeting for April Paper Pumpkin Kit, Lovely Little Wreath with black ink
• Color flowers with Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write Markers
• Attach pearls to three flowers
• Tie Old Olive Baker's Twine onto tag with a bow
• Attach to stamped panel with Stampin' Dimensionals 

Adhere completed panel to 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Melon Mambo cardstock, then to folded 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Old Olive card stock.  I'm so delighted with the way this card turned out.  Good choice with the stamp set, right?

Loveliest Person Note Card

I know a lot of loveliest people.  I bet you do too!  Create several of these and be ready to go at a moments notice!

• Stamp greeting with ink from kit on die cut tag (set aside to dry)
• Stamp Crumb Cake Note Card randomly with flower using black ink
• Tie about 10" of Basic Black Baker's Tie onto tag
• Punch Whisper White flower with Itty Bitty Accents punch pack (retiring).  Push Mini Silver Brad (retiring) through flower and attach to tag
• Adhere tag to note card with Stampin' Dimensionals
• Enjoy!

Happy Mother's Day Cards

For the Mother's Day card, I couldn't decide between Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight...so I made both!  

• On 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp both rows of black flowers.  Then stamp colored flowers between them.
• Stamp greeting with black ink.  Adhere stamped panel to folded 11" x 4-1/4" Basic Black card base.
• Punch flowers with Blossom Bunch Punch using matching cardstock.  Adhere together with glue dots.  Color White Perfect Accent with black Sharpie.  Let dry and adhere to flower center.  Adhere flower to tag with Stampin' Dimensional.
• Tie 10" of Basic Black Baker's Twine to tag and adhere to card with Stampin' Dimensionals
• Enjoy!

You could use this layout with a lot of different colors...go crazy!
