DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #191: Thoughtful Branches Hydrangea

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Sketch Pad" challenge.

As a demonstrator, we often have the opportunity to pre-purchase products before they are made available to the public. The upcoming Thoughtful Branches Bundle is an example of one of those opportunities...a fabulous perk of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator! Mine arrived the other day and I knew I'd reach for it for today's challenge, which is a refreshing sketch with a curved layer.

Thoughtful Branches Hydrangea

To create the curved layer, I traced a small plate onto a piece of 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock. After cutting along the traced line, I decided to use the bottom portion for my card (save the other piece for another time).
Adhere curved piece to 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Wisteria Wonder cardstock that has been run through the Big Shot with the new Petal Burst Texture Impressions Folder. Then adhere to folded 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Wisteria Wonder card base.
Stamp large flower/tree brush image (from Thoughtful Branches) on Whisper White cardstock with Wisteria Wonder ink (stamp off a couple times for added depth) and die cut with Beautiful Branches Thinlits dies. (can be purchased separately or save 10% with bundle!)
Die cut stem/leaves image from Old Olive cardstock (trim off leaf from right side)
Position and adhere flower (Stampin' Dimensional edges) and stem/leaves (Fine Tip Glue) to card.
Wrap Old Olive Bakers Twine around card front and tie in a bow.
Stamp greeting on Whisper White cardstock and die cut with Layering Circles (2-1/8") and adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals
Attached Rhinestones
Mail to someone special!

Clever Thoughtful Branches Hedgehog and more...coming Aug 2nd!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #190: Time of Year with Peace This Christmas

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Product Spotlight" challenge with Stampin' Up's Host/Stampin' Rewards stamp sets.

I chose the Time of Year stamp set. When I was playing around with the Peace This Christmas stamp set a couple weeks ago, I played around with the "pine bough" image to create a wreath. The wreath came out just fine, but something was missing. So I moved on. But today, I picked it up again and ran with it. It all came together really fast and I'm thrilled with the finished results.

Awesome, right?

Here's some tips for the wreath:

Use the pine bough image from Peace This Christmas. Ink with Garden Green and stamp on 3-15/16" x 5-3/16" Whisper White panel.
Without reinking, rotate the paper slightly and stamp two more times (rotating paper just a smidgen each time). Repeat all the way around in a circle to complete the wreath.
Now...this was where I was before and thought something was missing. So...I decided to "fill in" with a few more pine images. I inked the stamp and stamped off on a scratch paper first and then stamped more on the wreath. To my horror...I accidentally used Soft Suede ink. Yikes...I thought I'd have to start all over...boo):
But...when I picked myself up off the floor. I gave it a closer look. Oh my...I liked what I saw. So I kept stamping off on scratch paper once, then 2 times around the wreath. Wow...the wreath seemed more real and it was exactly what it needed. What do you know?
Happy accident - gotta love those!

Now, onto the Time of Year stamp set. This set is probably my favorite Stampin' Rewards (host) set this year. It has images for all year round, and those banners were a must-have for me!

Merry Christmas card tips:

Stamp the greeting banner with Cherry Cobbler one scrap of Whisper White. Die cut with Bunch of Banners Framelit Dies, adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Stamp "merry" from Oh, What Fun stamp set. Use scissors to cut into a rectangle, adhere with glue dots.
Stamp two pinecones from Peace this Christmas with Soft Suede ink. Fussy cut with Paper Snips, adhere with glue dots.
Tie a bow using Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, adhere with glue dots.
Color Basic Rhinestone Jewels with red Sharpie Markers, attach around wreath.
Adhere to 4-1/16" x 5-5/16" Early Espresso cardstock, then to folded 11" x 4-1/4" Cherry Cobbler cardstock

So...what do you think? Cool, huh?

Control Freaks July 2016 Tour: My Favorite Blooms & Wishes!

Welcome to the Control Freaks July 2016. We are thrilled to have you join us today. Our tour features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers sharing projects made with Stampin' Up! products. In fact, you may have just come from fellow freak Melissa Davies' blog.

Our theme for this month is: Fun & Fancy Free. Meaning...anything goes! So I selected my current favorite stamp set...Blooms & Wishes!

This was my new catalog swap for the Control Freaks last month.

Dawn's Blooms & Bliss Control Freaks Swap

The images are stamped on a die cut Whisper White circle from Layering Circles (largest circle). Trim about 3/8" off one side.
- Large flowers were stamped in Sweet Sugarplum once, then stamped off for the 2nd one.
- Same with the small flowers stamped in Rich Razzleberry.
- Again for the leaves stamped in Mint Macaron.
- Greeting stamped with Rich Razzleberry
Two 3" x 3/4" strips of Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper were adhered to a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock.
Wrap Whisper White Bakers Twine around panel and tie in a bow
Adhere to folded 11" x 4-1/4" Rich Razzleberry cardstock
Adhere stamped circle with Stampin' Dimensionals
Adhere Blushing Bride sequins with Glue Dots

At my local Stamping Club Class last week, we tried the Craft Sheet Stamping Technique (we used a slightly different design and inks). But I had to give my favorite color combo a try for today's card. This technique creates a faux watercolor look. See how...

Blooms & Wishes Craft Sheet Stamping

Swipe ink onto a Silicone Craft Sheet and lightly mist with Stampin' Spritzer (don't over mist or it will be too wet). Use this as your "stamp pad"
Ink up stamp from the "misted" ink on the Silicone Craft sheet and randomly stamp images.
- Inks used: Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry & Mint Macaron
- I recommend stamping on Shimmery White cardstock, as it withstands the extra water better.
