Woohoo for Watercolor Pencils! Stampin' Up!'s new Watercolor pencils are high-quality, smooth color pencils. Perfect for watercoloring stamped images.

I've been asked how they differ from the retired Stampin' Up! pencils. Here's my thoughts on that...

They come in Stampin' Up! colors - yay!
The seem to be a "softer pencil" - easier to color
The blend real nicely!

stamp image with Archival Basic Black ink
add color with Watercolor Pencils
blend with either an Aqua Painter or Blender Pen

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #218: Cool Treat Double Ribbon Card

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Product Spotlight" challenge.

If you know me, you know that I like Ribbon & Trims! I like the added touch and texture it gives to my cards. My super favorite is to reach for any sort of Baker's Twine. However, for today...I decided to challenge myself a little bit. I recalled a called a did several years ago that was a little bit different way of using ribbon, Double Ribbon...and thought I'd give it a try again.

Cool Treats Double Ribbon Card

Adhere 5-1/4" x 1-1/4" strip of Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper to 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White. Then adhere to folded 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Thick Whisper White card base.
Punch 1/2" circle by pushing punch all the way in from on the right side of the card and center between the DSP and white area (see photo).
Wrap ribbons one at a time through hole and around card, tie in a know. (Watermelon Wonder & Tip Top Taupe Mini Striped Ribbons)
Adhere 1/2 Lace Doily to right side of card, just under ribbon
Stamp & die cut cone as follows (Cool Treats stamp set & Frozen Treats Framelit Dies):
1. stamp "cake cone" image with Tip Top Taupe ink on Tip Top Taupe cardstock. Stamp "waffle" image on bottom of cone, die cut
2. stamp "swirl" image with Watermelon Wonder ink on Watermelon Wonder cardstock. die cut
3. stamp "sprinkles" image with Chocolate Chip ink.
4. Adhere to card with Stampin' Dimensionals
Stamp greeting with Chocolate Chip ink on 3-1/4" x 3/8" strip of Whisper White cardstock. Adhere one end just under cone, add a Stampin' Dimensional in the middle.

Isn't that a fun color combo? Watermelon Wonder, Tip Top Taupe & Chocolate Chip...love it!

I used a couple of 2015-2017 In Colors on this card. Now is the time to think about stocking up on your favorites, as they will be retiring coming May 31st (but sometimes run out before then).

Pretty Pocket Alternate Idea card:

Fold 4-1/4" x 11" Rich Razzleberry card base in

Cut some of the "pockets" from the Pretty Pocket Card Kit into strips of various widths and lengths. Trim ends as desired and adhere to card front with SNAIL Adhesive.

Place flower stickers around greeting.
Wrap twine around card front and tie in a bow.

Black Magic with a Wink & a Twist!

Today I'm sharing another Flourishing Phrases card with the Black Magic with a Twist technique. However, this one has a surprise...Wink of Stella! While playing around with this technique last month, I pulled out a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to do a little experimenting. I was delighted with the results!

Black Magic with a Wink & a Twist!

Stamp image (Flourishing Phrases) with Whisper White Craft ink on Basic Black cardstock that was die cut with largest square from Stitched Shaped Framelits. Let dry.
Color image with Pacific Point Watercolor Pencil. Only color 1/2 of each petal.
For the "wink", use a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and blend the blue color (staying on the half of petal)
For the "twist", use White Stampin' Chalk Marker to add the white dots (the "twist" of the dots really make the image pop!)
Adhere to 2-3/4" square of Pacific Point cardstock, then to 3" square of Whisper White cardstock. Then to 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Party Animal Designer Series Paper.
Stamp greeting with Whisper White craft ink on scrap of Basic Black cardstock. Let dry. Then die cut with oval shape from Stitched Shaped Framelits. Adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Wrap Basic Black Baker's Twine around panel twice and tie in a bow.
Adhere completed panel to folded 4-1/4" x 11" Basic Black card base.
Adhere 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White cardstock to inside of card

The camera caught a little bit of the glimmer from the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. In real life, it's gorgeous!

Above shows the results for different colored pencils.

Bottom = coloring only
Top = Wink of Stella added

Today I'm sharing the popular new stamp set, High Tide.

High Tide Hope card

Adhere 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) to folded 11" x 5-1/4" Basic Black card base. Add two staples in opposite corners.
Adhere 3-3/4" x 3/4" strip of DSP about 1-3/4" from the bottom of the card
Stamp High Tide images on 2-3/4" x 4" Very Vanilla cardstock with Archival Basic Black and Delightful Dijon inks. Adhere stamped panel with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Attach Urban Underground Embellishment (star)

The greetings in the High Tide stamp set are amazing. I can think of several people I need to send this card too. I'm sure you have some too.
