Paper Pumpkin: Flash Sale Today Only & One in a Melon Alternate Ideas

I'm SO lovin' this month's Paper Pumpkin kit - One in a Melon.  It's been a blast to play with!  

Today I have a couple of alternate ideas to share with you.  PLUS - a Paper Pumpkin FLASH SALE for today only - see details below.

For this card - I trimmed 1" off the front of the card (as I knew I would be using it to create 1" squares for my 9-square card below).  This left me with a narrower front panel.  Hmm...what to do?  I thought if I turned it upside down (now most of the pineapples would be upside "right")...but that's an odd way to open a card, right?  But then..."ooh - I could add a flap to the left side to create a fun-fold".  Brilliant!  See how...

One in a Melon Easy Fun Fold card

  1. Use Stampin' Trimmer [126889]  to cut a 1" strip off the front of the printed card (from kit).  Flip card around so the fold is on the right hand side.
  2. Use yellow banner piece (from kit) for left side "flap".  Score banner at 1" and fold.  Adhere 1" section securely to back of card and fold other side to front of card to create a second flap.
  3. Decorate flap with watermelon & banner greeting stamped on Whisper White scraps.  Staple twine to banner/watermelon and tie in a bow.
  4. Voila...easy fun-fold!

Dawn's Favorite 9-square Card

  1. Cut three 1" squares of each:  leftover "pineapple" paper (from previous card),  gift bag paper, stamped watermelon on Whisper White scraps.
  2. Adhere all nine squares to 3-1/4" square of Whisper White, then to 3-1/2" square of Emerald Envy [141415].  The adhere to folded 11" x 4-1/4" Crushed Curry  [131199] card base.
  3. Stamp greeting on 1-3/8" Whisper White Circle (punch). Place "fern" sticker (from kit) on card. Then adhere circle with Stampin' Dimensional.  
  4. Tie a twine bow, adhere with glue dot.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #237: Patriotic Wood Crate

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge.

So many things came to mind for today's inspiration photo...flag, Jar of Love stamp set, Swirly Scribbles Thinlets, etc.  However, I was at Walmart last week and found some patriotic candy.  I just had to create a cute packaging for it and here's what I came up with using the Wood Words Bundle with Wood Crate Frameltis.

Patriotic Wood Crate:

  1. Use Wood Crate Framelits Dies to cut two wood crates out of 11" x 4-/4" piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock.
  2. Before assembling, stamp "stars" (Wood Words stamp set) onto crate pieces with Real Red & Dapper Denim ink.  Stamp "mini stars" under the crate "handles" with Real Red ink.
  3. Assemble with Tear & Tape Adhesive
  4. Stamp greeting on white cardstock with Dapper Denim ink.  Die cut with tag shape.
  5. Fill 3" x 6" Gusseted Cello Bag with candy kisses.  Tie off with Cherry Cobbler 1/4" Double-Stitched Ribbon.  Then add tag with Dapper Denim Baker's Twine.  
  6. Die cut 3 stars (Dapper Denim, Silver Glimmer & Real Red).  Adhere stars together with Glue Dots, then adhere to "candy stick" or skewer with glue dots.  Tuck stick under ribbon.

Two For Tuesday: Lovely Friends cards

Today is Two For Tuesday, where I share an quick & easy card along with a stepped up 2nd version.

Two For Tuesday, Stampin' Up! Lovely Friends cards shared by Dawn Olchefske #dostamping

Both cards feature the new Lovely Friends Photopolymer Bundle [145319] (save 10%)!

Create cards with an interactive flair! The die in this bundle makes a pop up wreath when the recipient opens the card. The stamp images compliment the dies with lots of phrases and greetings for the outside of your card.  You'll find yourself reaching for the set often!

  Two For Tuesday, Stampin' Up! Lovely Friends cards shared by Dawn Olchefske #dostamping

Lovely Friends Quick & Easy Card

  1. Stamp leaves image (Lovely Friends stamp set) with Old Olive ink (one is full strength and one is stamped-off) on 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack.  Stamp hearts with Fresh Fig ink.  Then adhere to folded 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Very Vanilla card base.
  2. Stamp greeting & brackets with Fresh Fig ink on Very Vanilla "label" die cut image from Lovely Laurel Thinlits Dies.  
  3. Fold Old Olive 3/8" Mini Chevron Ribbon in half and adhere to greeting label, and then to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Lovely Friends Step-Up Card

  1. Die cut one of the wreath images (Lovely Laurel Thinlits Dies) from Old Olive cardstock.  
  2. Place wreath (don't adhere yet) on 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack (for positioning).  Stamp leaves (Old Olive) & hearts (Fresh Fig) around it.  
  3. Adhere wreath piece to DSP with Glue Dots and trim off excess from right edge.  Adhere panel to 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" Fresh Fig cardstock.
  4. Fold Old Olive 3/8" Mini Chevron Ribbon in half.  Place a couple of pieces of Linen thread on top and staple all to the panel.  Adhere panel to folded 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Very Vanilla card base.
  5. Stamp greeting & brackets with Fresh Fig ink on Very Vanilla "label" die cut image from Lovely Laurel Thinlits Dies, and adhere to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

At first glance - I completely fell in love with the stamp set, Lovely Friends.  and knew I'd be reaching for it a lot when I'm looking for ways to express myself.  But I have to admit, I didn't think I needed a pop-up interactive wreath from the Lovely Laurel Thinlits Dies.  However, I gave it another look and found that most of the dies I do NEED in my collection.  The wreath doesn't have to be a pop up - it makes for great foliage (as shown in the step-up card).  Plus the label shape is a must-have!  Be sure to add it to your shopping cart today so you can start creating lovely cards right away!

I brought this kit with me to the cabin this weekend and I've been having a TON of fun playing it!    I can't wait to show you all of them.  But for today - I just have the one as we're getting ready to visit my husband's sister.

One In a Melon Treat Holder

  1. Treat holder = fold in half 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Then fold "front flap" in half.  Adhere the front folds together.  
  2. Decorate front flap with 1-7/8" x 4" piece cut from gift bag and inside with 4" x 4" piece cut from tissue paper.
  3. Fold up front flap of treat holder and wrap Basic Black Baker's Twine [134576] around holder twice and tie in a bow.
  4. Stamp watermelon on scrap of Whisper White cardstock and fussy cut.  Stamp greeting on 3" x 5*8" strip of Whisper White, cut banner end.  Adhere both to card.
  5. Insert watermelon candy (the Air Heads candy is a good choice as it's flat.  But a Kool-Aid pack would work too)

CASE the Catty (CTC): Label Me Pretty Bundle

Today is another CASE the Catty (CTC)!

Stampin' Up! catalogs are a great source of inspiration...why not use them!  For this week, we selected a sample from the Stampin' Up! 2017-2018 Annual Catalog on pg 55.  It's an easy layout and the greeting could be created with Framelits or Punches.  Check it out...

CASE the Catty (CTC) with Label Me Pretty Bundle shared by Dawn Olchefske #dostamping

From the Kitchen card

  1. Adhere 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper to folded 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Daffodil Delight card base.
  2. Adhere 5-1/4" piece of Old Olive 3/8" Mini Chevron Ribbon to 4" x 1-1/4" piece of Daffodil Delight, then adhere to card. 
  3. Cut 1-3/4 circle punch from "cupcake" pattern DSP.  Die cut "girl with cupcakes" from DSP using the matching shape from the Birthday Friends Framelit Dies (I know...cool!).  Adhere both to card.
  4. Stamp greeting (Label Me Pretty stamp set) with Pacific Point in on scrap of Whisper White.  Cut with Pretty Label punch and adhere to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Create a matching gift box using the Gift Box Punch Board!  Start with 5-1/2" x 10" piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock, then follow the directions on the "punch board" to create a "small" box (or watch video below).  The large circle is 2" and the small cupcake DSP circle is 3/4".

Stinkin' adorable...right?!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #236: Beautiful Bouquet Bundle

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week we're having a "Color My World" challenge.

With today's color combo, I knew I would be reaching for a floral set.  As the Beautiful Bouquet Bundle products just arrived, I grabbed them and started stamping.  For this bundle, I think just diving in and playing is a good start.  The sample in the catalog (pg 93) caught my eye and I decided to CASE it - changing the colors to match the challenge.

Beautiful Bouquet Bundle card

  1. Run 4" x 5-1/4" Fresh Fig through Big Shot with Polka Dot Basic Texture Folder.  Adhere to folded 11" x 4-1/4" Fresh Fig card base.
  2. Stamp greeting (Beautiful Bouquet stamp set) with Soft Suede ink in corner of Whisper White Stitched Shapes Framelit (2-5/8" square).  Adhere to 3" Old Olive Layering Squares Framelits (3" scallop square).   Adhere to card front.
  3. Build "bouquet of flowers":
    • stamp flowers = Sweet Sugarplum & Coral Calypso (with Soft Suede for centers) - die cut with matching shapes (Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies)
    • die cut leaves = Old Olive, flowers bunches = Sweet Sugarplum & Coral Calypso
    • stamp "wrap" = Soft Suede ink (stamped off) - die cut with matching shape
    • arrange & assemble bouquet on Silicon Craft Sheet with Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals (I found the craft sheet to be forgiving when I wanted to rearrange the flowers).  
    • Wrap 1/8" Coral Calypso Sheer Ribbon around "bunch" and tie in a bow.  
    • Adhere bouquet to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  4. Attach Gold Faceted Gems.

What better way to play with a new bundle set then CASEing a catalog sample.  That way you get a feel for how the stamps work with the dies.  Then the creative juices take over from there to make your own creations.  With so many awesome samples to choose from this year, you'll always have new ideas at the ready!
