Broadway Bound Suite Week Day #5: Make a Wish (Omitting Technique)

July 20, 2018

Welcome to Day #5 of my Broadway Bound Suite Week!

We're ending this week with a card that showcases the fabulous marquee sign, from the Broadway Lights Framelits Dies.
In addition, I'm using an oldie but goodie stamping trick called.omitting (more on that below).

How'd She DO That? tips Make a Wish Marquee card:

Stamps: Broadway Birthday (or bundle with Broadway Lights Framelits to save 10%)
Paper:
- Gray Granite (5-1/2" x 8-1/2" card base, scrap for die cutting)
- Whisper White (scrap for die cutting)
- Basic Black (scrap)
- Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper (4" x 5-1/4")
Ink: Versa Mark, Tuxedo Black Memento, Lemon Lime Twist, Lovely Lipstick
Heat Emboss: Stamp "wish" on white "sign" die cut with black ink, let dry. Then stamp "wish dots" with Versamark ink over it. Cover with Black Stampin' Emboss Powder. Remove excess and melt with Heat Tool.
Other: Big Shot, Broadway Lights Framelits, Heat Tool, Embossing Buddy, Black Stampin' Emboss Powder, Lemon Lime Twist 1/4" Ombre Ribbon, Black Mini Sequin Trim, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals

I'm lovin' the way the marquee sign turned out! See my tips below:

Using the Omitting Technique!
- The line under the "make a" image and the "I" in "WISH" image was omitted by covering them up with tape (narrow Washi Tape works great).
- Then ink up stamp
- Before stamping, remove tape (don't forget this step!)
To mat the marquee shape so color will show through the "holes:
- trace die shape onto scrap of black, then hand cut.
- Use glue dots to adhere to marquee sign.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #289: Broadway Bound

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Sketch Pad" challenge.

As it's Day #4 of my Broadway Bound Suite Week - I reached for the adorable little shapes included with the Broadway Lights Framelits Dies. Specifically, the ice cream cone, diamond shapes and party hat.

I took my cue from today's sketch, but was also inspired by the cute sample in the 2018-19 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog (pg 68 - pink tag on the package in the lower right corner).

How'd She DO That? tips for Birthday Medallion card:

Stamps: Broadway Birthday (bundle with Broadway Lights Framelits to save 10%)
Paper:
- Whisper White Thick (11" x 4-1/4" card base, 1/4" x 2-1/2" greeting strip, scrap for ice cream)
- Lovely Lipstick (scrap for 2-5/8" Stitched Shape Framelits square)
- Basic Black (scrap for Starburst Punch)
- Broadway Bound Designer Series Paper (5" x 1-1/2" - red, scrap of party hat)
- Gold Foil (scrap for cone & diamonds)
Ink: Jet Black Stazon - cone, Lovely Lipstick - ice cream (stamp off) & greeting)
Other: Big Shot, Broadway Lights Framelits Dies, Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Basic Black 1/2" Satin, Ribbon, Candle Embellishments, Fine Tip Glue, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals

I recommend stamping and die cutting all of the little pieces first. That is actually when I discovered the party hat die matches the party hats on one of the sheets of the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper - wahoo!

Then one final touch that is hard to see in the photo...I added a little bit of shimmer to the ice cream with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter brush. It looks yummy in real life! Ooh - you could slip in a gift card to their favorite ice cream shop...yum!

Broadway Bound Suite Week Day #3: Wish Box

Welcome to Day #3 of Broadway Bound Suite Week!

We've come to the middle of the Broadway Bound Suite Week and today we're bringing out the Big Shot to use with the coordinating Broadway Lights Framelits Dies.

Create die-cut birthday decor, billboards and more in record time with the Broadway Lights Framelits Dies. The diamond piece cuts out diamond 'flickers' as a peek through. You can also save the positive images as embellishment pieces for your project.

On to today's project...Broadway Lights Wish Box

How'd She DO That? Wish Box:

Paper:
- Lovely Lipstick (1-1/2" x 3-3/8")
- Lemon Lime Twist (3/4" x 3-5/8" for "diamond border" die)
- Basic Black (4-1/4" x 2" scrap for "wish" die)
- Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper (4 x 2")
Other: Big Shot, Broadway Lights Framelits, Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Black 1/2" Satin Ribbon (26"), Kraft Pillow Boxes, Glue Dots, Snail, & Stampin' Dimensionals
Tips:
- Fold both ends of the Kraft Pillow Box.
- Fold 26" in ribbon in half, slide box into fold and adhere ribbon to both sides of the pillow box. Then tie in a bow.
- Banner cut the ends of the DSP and Lovely Lipstick pieces.
- Adhere diamond border die cut to DSP, then to pillow box.
- Adhere wish die cut to Lovely Lipstick banner with glue dots. Then adhere to pillow box with Stampin' Dimensionals.
- Add Clear Wink of Stella to "wish".

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento
Other: Darling Label Punch Box, Black 1/2" Satin Ribbon, Metallic Pearls & Stampin' Dimensionals
Tip:
- Cut three "hats" from DSP using Darling Label Punch
- Use Darling Label Punch to cut three pieces of black cardstock. Cut each piece in half and adhere to top & bottom of hat cutouts.
