A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop: Blissful Blooms
August 30, 2018
Welcome to the A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!
I'm excited to join this talented group of stampers to share alternate ideas for Paper Pumpkin Kits. Today we're sharing the August 2018 Paper Pumpkin - Blissful Bloom
First off - this month's kit is awesome! The beautiful flower images just take your breath away.
For my alternate idea, I wanted to come up with an easy way to use one of the kit's cards to make two. This 2-card gift set was lots of fun to make. (see below) and are wrapped up with their envelopes with a belly band.
These are what I call, a "panel card". Which means, the card base is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" and doesn't open, it's just a panel...hence the name! They have a simple but clever opening, As you can see, the "card" that opens is actually approximately one-half of one of the cards from the kit...getting more from your Blissful Blooms kit!
How'd She DO That? Tips for Blissful Blooms Panel cards:
- Paper:
- Use the card base from the kit with flowers in the center
- Fold card on the score line. Cut in half at 2-3/4" through both layers.
- Cut 1/4" off the "white edge" (top or bottom) from each piece, through both layers. Each piece should measure 4-1/4" x 2-1/2" (folded)
- Old Olive (card #1= 2-3/4" x 4-1/4", card #2= 2-3/4" x 4-3/8")
- Daffodil Delight (4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card base)
- Whisper White (scraps for Pretty Label Punch)
- Mossy Meadow (scraps for 1-3/4" Circle Punch
- Use the card base from the kit with flowers in the center
- Ink: Mossy Meadow
- Other: Pretty Label Punch, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Rhinestone Jewels
- Tip: Put dimensionals only on the side that adheres to the smaller folded card (not to the Daffodil panel).
To make the belly band:
- Open one of the envelopes to reveal the inside pattern.
- I trimmed the center area of the envelope to 3" (tip: cut 1-1/2" from both sides of the side "points"). Finished piece should measure approx 3" x 11-1/4".
- Stack up 2 envelopes and 2 cards (faced down), wrap belly band around and secure with a glue dot.
- Wrap twine around belly band and tie in a bow. NOTE: I pulled the silver thread from the twine.
- Tag is 1-1/2" & 1-3/4" circle punches and 1/8" handheld circle punch. Stamp tag using Mossy Meadow & Flirty Flamingo ink.
- Use silver thread to attach to twine bow
