DOstamping Tropical Escape Suite Week: Day #1 Leaves Window Die

It's time for another DOstamping Suite Week! This week I'll be sharing ideas using the Tropical Escape Suite (Annual Catalog pg 120-121).

When the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog was released, I was immediately drawn to the Tropical Escape Suite. Particularly the "leaves window" die...it really caught my eye. So that's what I'm showcasing to kick-off the week.

This quick and cute (QC) card comes together quickly.

How'd She DO That? tips for QC Tropical Chic Window card:

Stamps: Tropical Chic
Paper:
- Blushing Bride (4-1/4" x 11" card base)
- Shaded Spruce (4-1/4" x 3-1/2 for window die cut)
- Granny Apple Green (3-1/8" x 3-1/8" for window backing)
- Whisper White (3/4" x 2-1/2" for banner)
- Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper (4-1/2" x 3/4" - pink dots)
Ink: Granny Apple Green
Other: Big Shot, Tropical Thinlits Dies, Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack, Silver and Petal Pink Baker's Twine, Stampin' Dimensionals
Tip: When adhering the window die cut to the Granny Apple Green layer, keep the adhesive all the way to the edge of the window piece.

I have to say, this style of stamps and dies are not typically my style. But for some reason they spoke to me...so I had to have them! I'm glad I got them. It's nice to try something new and discover that you can have fun creating with them. I may have to break out of my style more often!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #302: Fall Winter Woods

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge.

Feels like fall!

At least that's what I saw when working on this week's DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.

My husband had a birthday last week and this was the card I made for him. It wasn't exactly what I had in my head when I first started, but I think it turned out nicely. And more importantly, he really liked it. That's why we make cards, right?

How'd She DO That? tips for Fall Winter Woods card:

Stamps: Winter Woods, Beautiful Day
Paper:
- Whisper White Thick (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base)
- Whisper White (4" x 5-1/4")
- Early Espresso (2-3/8" x 4-1/4" for curved edgelit)
Ink: Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie
Other: Big Shot, Into the Woods, Crumb Cake 3/8" Classic Weave Ribbon, Leaves Trinkets, Stamping Sponges, Glue Dots &SNAIL
Tips: see below for Sponging Technique Tips

Dawn's Sponging Technique Tips:

To get the ombre look, use Stamping Sponges
Sponge on ink using a circular motion
Start with the lightest color, working from the bottom to the top with the darkest color.
I used Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and just a touch of Pumpkin Pie.
I actually make a panel with Crajun Craze at the top, but it was too dark for my liking.

Inspired Events: Confirmation Event

October 17, 2018

This past Saturday I crafted with a card ministry group that makes cards for their church. Each month there is a "theme" for the cards, ie: Christmas, Thinking of You, etc. This month they asked for 170 cards for their Confirmation Students. Several members create a design and bring supplies to make it. Then everyone chips in to stamp and assemble.

Here's my card using the Inspired Events stamp set, which I brought supplies for 30 cards.

Luckily I had purchased Stampin' Up!'s Inspired Events stamp set earlier this year and now had a reason to use it! With it's elegant imagery, it can be used to create cards for christenings, baptisms, confirmations and so much more. This is one of those stamp sets you'll hold on to for a long time!

How'd She DO That? tips for Inspired Events Confirmation card:

Stamps: Inspired Events
Paper:
- Whisper White Thick (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base)
- Whisper White (3-7/8" x 5-1/8")
- Silver Foil Sheets (scrap)
Ink: Smoky Slate
Other: Big Shot, Cross of Hope, Stamparatus, Basic Rhinestone Jewels, SNAIL and Glue Dots.

Stamping Tip:

We were able to stamp all 30 of these in no time at all.
Mount all three stamp images on one Stamparatus plate.
With one "ink & press" - the stamping was done!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #301: Beautiful Blizzard with Joyous Noel

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "showCASE" challenge.

I'm excited for this week's showCASE challenge. Why...because I really like the layout of this card in the Holiday Catalog and I thought it could be applied to a lot of different Designer Series Papers. Here's my take on it...

With the catalog inspiration, this card came together very quickly (gotta love that?). I actually chose the snowflake pattern from the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper first, then searched for a stamp set that would complement it. I didn't have to search too far, as the Beautiful Blizzard Bundle was the perfect choice.

How'd She DO That? tips for Beautiful Blizzard card:

Stamps: Beautiful Blizzard
Paper:
- Sahara Sand (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base)
- Whisper White (./4" x 3-1/2" banner)
- Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper (4" x 5-1/4", 3/4" x 4-1/2")
- Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper (scraps for snowflakes)
Ink: Tranquil Tide
Other: Big Shot, Precision Base Plate, Blizzard Thinlit Die, 3/16" Braided Linen Trim, Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets & Stampin' Dimensionals
Tip: For the snowflakes
- I cut a 2" x 4" piece of Glimmer Paper and Multipurpose Adhesive sheets and stuck them together.
- Placed it near one end of the die and cut several snowflakes. Then I had a few choices of sizes to select from. NOTE: this die cuts lots of snowflakes, see below for the sizes.
- The Blizzard Die definitely required the Precision Base Plate. For my Big Shot, I added a "shim" of folded copy paper too.
