A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop Dec 2018: Day by Day

Welcome to the December A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!

I'm excited to join this talented group of stampers to share alternate ideas for Paper Pumpkin Kits. Today we're sharing the December 2018 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Day by Day.

When you start to play with the Day by Day Paper Pumpkin kit, you might be surprised to find that it is an 18-month calendar kit. So I took some of the months from 2020 to make a fun trio of cards.

How'd She DO That? Hello Daisy Cards:

Cut 7/8" off the top of one of the "calendar banner" pieces.
Stamp small center dot with Daffodil Delight ink. Stamp "lined leaf" image with Highland Heather (Grapefruit Grove or Pool Party) several times to create a flower. Repeat as desired.
Adhere to folded 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" Daffodil Delight card base.
Cut white scrap with Tailored Tag Punch. Stamp greeting 3-times (I started with the center one).
Fold 8" of Sale-a-Bration's Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack (coming January 3rd) - into thirds. Adhere to back of tag. Then adhere tag to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

These cards were fun to make. Use any color combo that you'd like to create your own Hello Daisy cards!

Coming Soon: Dear Doily Bundle

With the Holiday Catalog ending soon (January 2nd)...the new 2019 Occasions Catalog will be starting January 3rd. If you're an active customer of mine, your's should be arriving in your mailbox soon.

As demonstrators, we got the opportunity to purchase Occasions products this month and I've gone waaaay overboard. There is SO many awesome stamp sets, accessories, framelits and more to choose from - I couldn't help myself!

For today, I chose the new Dear Doily Bundle - save 10% with Doily Builder Thinlits Dies. At first glance, I was not going to get this set. But then I saw it in action at OnStage last month and I had to have it! And I'm so glad I did. The greetings and fonts are really nice and I know I will be using them often.

I'm really happy with the way the card turned out...almost exactly what I had in my head. Unfortunately, this card is going to my Aunt Mary's family, as she passed away suddenly on Friday. She was only 8 years older than me. Puts things a little bit in perspective...you just never know.

Featuring DOstamperSTAR Terry Rajala

Today's stunning card was created by one of my DOstamperSTAR Team Members, Terry Rajala.

Let me tell you a little bit about Terry. She was a local customer of mine for many years, who attended any event/class I held. Terry was the kind of customer who knew a lot about stamping and generously shared it with others. She always helped someone who might have been struggling at her table and more! For the past few years, I've been suggesting that Terry become a demonstrator and join my team, as she would be a natural. Well...last Sale-a-Bration she joined! And I'm so delighted to have her on my team.

Her card was SO stunning on the outside, that I never opened the clear envelope we use when swapping, to see the inside. When I opened it to take a photo, "WOW" was all I could say! I can't believe I waited so long. Lesson learned...open the cards, there might be something special inside!

I'm happy to share her card with you today!

I'm completely in love with the greetings from the soon-to-be-retired Beautiful Blizzard stamp set. Not only are they playful and meaningful, but the fonts are super fun!

How'd She DO That? Beautiful Blizzard card:

Wondering how I created the greeting shape? That's a punch trick, with the Everyday Label Punch, here's how:.

Everyday Label Punch Trick:

Have Everyday Label Punch facing upside down
Insert 3-3/4" x 1" strip into punch from the left edge and as it enters the punch, lift up the right edge so it slides up & over the right edge of the punch.
Align the left edge of the strip to the left outside edge of the punch.
Before punching, make sure the strip is centered in the punch shape.

This was the last card from my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack class. I hope you enjoyed seeing them as much as my class attendees enjoyed making them.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #307: Punches are a Stampers Best Friend!

December 12, 2018

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Product Spotlight" challenge.

That's right, punches ARE a stampers best friend. Why...because with a quick stamp and punch, you've got an easy-to-make embellishment for your cards.

Stampin' Up! has a large offering of punches. I chose the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch, and the coordinating Making Christmas Bright stamp set (bundle % save 10%). It was an easy choice, as it was another card I offered at my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack class. The ladies found it a little fussy at first, but when their card all came together, I heard a lot of, "oh, that was worth it"!

How'd She DO That? Christmas Bulb card:

- Paper Parade (11" x 4-1/4" card base)
- Color (2 of 4" x 5-1/4", scraps for punching)

Dawn's Tips:

For the best stamping impression...be sure to clean the "bulb" stamps before stamping. This will remove any manufacturing film.
Use the Stamparatus to stamp the greeting and string of lights - makes for quick and perfect stamping alignment!
Though you can't see it in the photo, Wink of Stella was added to the word "shine".
