I'm excited to join in with this talented group of stampers to share alternate ideas for Paper Pumpkin Kits. Today we're sharing the March 2019 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Poppin' Birthday.
Oh my gosh - I'm having so much fun with this month's kit. The timing is perfect, as there are several birthdays coming up in my family. I thought of them when I made these cards.
Here's the first alternate card I did, by creating a text styled background. I wanted to do something simple, yet eye-catching.
How'd She DO That? Celebrate YOU card
- Use a piece of scratch paper to cover up 1-3/4" of a 4" x 5-1/4" panel. This is your "mask".
- Stamp sentiment images on the diagonal, using Poppy Parade and Bermuda Bay.
- Remove the mask and complete card using 2" Circle & Starburst punches.
- Card base is 4-1/4" x 11" (Bermuda Bay)
Tip for smudges: I had this card all done, and then I smeared ink on the greeting circle. It turned out the hat die cut was the perfect size to cover it up. Love it when that happens.
This card is a bit of a fun fold with the card wrapped around a square panel.
I made this card with my grandson, Max in mind. He's turning 12 in April (where does the time go?). He'll appreciate it and will probably ask if it's a Paper Pumpkin card. Every once in awhile we'll still stamp Paper Pumpkin kits together. It's a fabulous way to bond with my grandsons.
How'd She DO That? Turning 12 card
- Cut polka dot card base (from kit) in half at 2-3/4". When folded it should measure 2-3/4" x 4-1/4", and the fold will be on the left.
- Adhere two strips of (6) candles together (or whatever amount you'll need for your card). I pulled one strip down slightly. Then adhere to diagonal striped piece (from kit).
- Next, adhere it to the front of the folded "half" card. I lined up the top edge of the strip to the top edge of the card.
- Fold card and adhere back of card to back of 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Balmy Blue cardstock.
- Finish card off using 2" Circle & Starburst punches and number die cuts.
- Stamp sentiment inside card with Bermuda Bay ink.
