Stamping with the STARS #357: Color Blocking Inspiration

The DOstamperSTARS are excited to bring you another Stamping with the STARS Inspiration Hop #DOswts357.  This week we're sharing a Color Blocking Inspiration.

During our Monthly STARS Zoom Meeting last month, my team member and friend, Jan Carlson shared a Color Blocking Technique with everyone.  It looks really fun, so we decided to make it our theme inspiration for this month.

I'm lovin' the bright colors I chose to go with this fun birthday stamp set, Hooray To You.  I just pops off the card with a black card base.

How'd She DO That? Hooray To You card

• Stamps: Hooray To You
• Paper:
  • Basic Black (4-1/4" x 11" card base)
  • Whisper White (3-5/8" x 4-7/8") 
  • Highland Heather, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight & Magenta Madness (3-1/2" x 4-3/4")
  • Basic White (scrap for punch)
• Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento
• Other:  Stamparatus, Paper Trimmer, Classic Label Punch, Snail Mail Twine Combo, Black Matte Dots, Stampin' Seal, Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals

DOstamping Tips:

• Using the Stamparatus, stamp images on all 4 panels of colored cardstock with black ink.  (I did need to stamp each one 2 times to get a nice clean stamped image)
• Use the Paper Trimmer to cut each panel as follows:
  • 1-1/4" off the top,
  • turn and cut off right edge at 1-1/2" ,
  • then turn and cut off 1" of the "birthday". 
  • NOTE:  I cut two panels at a time.  If you can - cutting all 4 panels at a time is optimal.
• Sort pieces into 4 piles of 1 color/shape per pile.  You'll get 4 cards - yay!
• Assemble on white panel, like a puzzle.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop: Bouquet of Hope

Welcome to A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop! 

I'm excited to join this talented group of stampers to share alternate ideas for Paper Pumpkin Kits.  Today we're sharing the February 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Bouquet of Hope.

My kit just arrived yesterday - yikes!  This morning I'm hustling to get a card made.  As I opened and sorted the kit's contents, I was drawn to the gold foil sheets.  Actually, I'm not a fan of them, but...I thought I could use them as a stencil.  I'm thrilled with the way it turned out!  See below...

How'd She DO That? Foil Sheet Stencil Card:

• PAPER:  4" x 5-1/4" Basic White, 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Basic White Thick card base
• INK:  Rococo Rose, Tuxedo Black Memento
• OTHER:  Blending Brushes (not sponge daubers), Rococo Rose 1/2" Gathered Ribbon

DOstamping Tips:

• Use a dab of adhesive under the gold foil sheet - remove a little bit of the stickiness.  Place in center of 4" x 5-1/4" white piece to use as a stencil.
• Use Rococo Rose ink and Blending Brushes to apply ink.  I recommend adding & blending ink from the center area to the outer edges of the panel.
  
• Then remove "stencil" to reveal pretty floral pattern.
• NOTE:  I tried Sponge Daubers, but the couldn't get into the really tiny spaces.  The Blending Brushes worked beautifully and quickly!

The Meadow Moments Embossing Folders could easily be overlooked.  You'll find it on page 185 in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.  They are probably one of my most favorite texture folders when I want to add just a touch of texture!  And because they are "half-sized", they fit perfectly into the Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.

Sale-a-Bration Spotlight: Create Custom Approaching Perfection Background

I have a fun card for you today featuring the Sale-a-Bration FREE stamp set, Approaching Perfection.

This Sale-a-Bration FREE stamp set is filled with lots of fun birthday sentiments.  I thought it would be fun to create a text background.  Cute, huh?

How'd She DO That? Approaching Perfection card

  • Night of Navy (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base, and scrap for Tasteful Label Die) 
  • Basic White (4" x 5-1/4", and scrap for smallest Stitched circle die)

• Ink:  Night of Navy
• Other:   Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Tasteful Label Dies, Stitched Shapes Dies, Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch, Snail Mail Twine Combo  Pack, Playing with Patterns Resin Dots, Stampin' Seal, Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals.

 

DOstamping Tips:

• I didn't want to stamp each sentiment individually.  So I mounted several stamps into a grouping on a clear block.   
• I'm always looking for ways to be more efficient, and this fit the bill.
• Experiment with different "layouts".
• Then stamp in a variety of directions to create your own customer background!
