Stamping with the STARS #404: Rubberbands, Milkshakes & Kissing!

With a headline like that, did I get your attention?

The DOstamperSTARS are excited to bring you another Stamping with the STARS Inspiration Hop #DOswts405.  This week we're happy to share Rubberband Stamping Technique Inspiration with you.

Last fall, one of my team members, Beverly Jackson demonstrated the Rubberband Stamping Technique at our monthly DOstamperSTARS Zoom get-together.  It's been on my mind ever since then and I thought it would make a great theme for a Stamping with the STARS hop. So here we are!

The inspiration for my card...We have a local restaurant, the 50's Grill, and it's exactly what you might think.  Servers in pink & black, hamburgers, fries, homemade food (the best pot pies) and ice cream.  It's one of favorites - especially for birthdays! 

My grandkids like to get a Mint Chocolate Shake.  It's fun to see it brought to the table with all of the chocolate swirls showing through the glass.  So that's what I thought of for the Rubberband Stamping Technique.  

How'd She DO That? Share a Mint Chocolate Milkshake Tent card

• Bundle:  Share a Milkshake
• Paper:
  • Mint Macaron (4-1/4" x 8-1/2" card base scored at 4-1/4") 
  • Basic White (2-1/2" x 3-5/8", 5/8" x 2-1/8 for sentiment, scraps for whip cream, straw, cherry, tall glass die cuts) 
  • Early Espresso (2-7/8" x 4", scrap for chocolate die cut)
  • Country Gingham 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (4" square) 
• Ink:  Mint Macaron, Early Espresso, Melon Mambo
• Other:  Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Opaque Adhesive-Backed Gems, Stampin' Seal, Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals

 

So...what does Rubberbands, Milkshakes & Kissing have to do with each other?  Good question.  See my tips below.

DOstamping Tips:

1. Ink tall glass image with Mint Macaron ink, then stamp off on scratch paper.  DON'T STAMP ONTO PROJECT YET.
2. Wrap a couple of rubberbands around Block C - let some of them twist.
3. Ink up rubberbands with Early Espresso ink, then stamp off on scratch paper. 
4. This is where the kissing comes in...press the inked rubberbands onto the tall glass inked image.  Repeat until you get the look you're going for - I "kissed" 3 times in various places.
5.  Breathe onto image (to remoisten), then stamp onto scrap of white. 
6. Viola...a mint chocolate milkshake!

I love the way this Share a Milkshake & Rubberband Stamping Technique card turned out.  I think the boys would approve.

Embedded Embossed: Stunning Sale-a-Bration Favored Flowers Cards

How'd She DO That? Embedded Embossed Favored Flowers cards

• Stamps:  Go To Greetings
• Paper:
  • Your Choice (11" x 4-1/4" card base) - Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow, Calypso  Coral or Fresh Freesia,
  • Basic Black (4" x 5-1/4") 
  • Basic White (3/4" x 3-1/4" - prior to punching end)
  • Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper (DSP) (scraps) FREE with $50 order during Sale-a-Bration - ends 2/28
• Ink:  Your Choice - Calypso Coral, Mossy Meadow or Fresh Freesia
• Other:   Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Fragrant Flowers Dies, Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder, Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Stampin' Seal & Stampin' Dimensionals

As I have lots of cards to make each month, I try to keep them quick & cute, which is my style anyways.  Despite the look of these cards, the featured Embedded Embossed Technique is quite easy to create.  It's actually an oldie, but goodie technique from the past. 

 

The key to this technique is the embossing folder.  When I saw the new Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder, I immediately thought of the Embedded Emboss technique.  Back in the day, we used punched out shapes to "embed".  However, the Favored Flower DSP & Fragrant Flowers Dies (also available in a bundle with the Fragrant Flowers stamp set) create the perfect shapes for this technique.

 

DOstamping Tips:

1. Use both large and small flower die shapes (from Fragrant Flower Dies) to die cut flowers from Sale-a-Bration Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper. 
   • Be sure to die cut any partial flowers from the edges too, as they are perfect for this technique. 
   • Optionally:  You could fussy cut them out instead of die cutting - if that's your thing. 
2. Onto black panel, adhere a large flower die cut into the lower corner (or grouping flowers).  Trim off any excess from edges.
3. Use Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder & Stampin' Cut & Emboss Marchione to add texture to entire panel.
4. Adhere a smaller die cut to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Trim off any excess from edges.
5. Adhere panel to folded card base
6. Stamp and punch end of sentiment strip.  Adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals.
7. Finish off with Iridescent Rhinestones

 

As some of the partial die cuts will be flat on the left edges, play with the placement of the flowers.  Mix & match colors too!

  • Basic White (scraps for die cutting milkshake pieces and Stylish Shapes 1-3/4" circle die cut ) 
  • Early Espresso (scrap for chocolate die cut)
  • Designer Series Paper (1" x 3-3/4")
• Ink:  Sweet Sorbet, Blushing Bride
• Other:   Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder, Opaque Adhesive Backed Gems, Stampin' Seal, Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals

 

DOstamping Tips:

• The best way to play with the Share a Milkshake Bundle is to do just that, play!
• Stamp and die cut, die cut extra pieces in different colors, let your imagination out.  
• When you have a nice variety of pieces and colors, build a milkshake, waffle cone or dish of ice cream.

Share a Milkshake: Neapolitan Sundae card

Today I'm sharing a fun card made with the new Share a Milkshake Bundle.

Create unique fun frozen delights with the Share a Milkshake Bundle  The images and dies in this bundle are made to be mixed and matched.  Like I did for this Neapolitan Sundae card.

Neapolitan ice cream consists of three layers, each of a different color and flavor, chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla.  Though, I suppose you could create your own colors/flavors.  But at least, you won't have to worry about any extra pounds with this sundae!

 

How'd She DO That? Neapolitan Sundae card

• Stamps/Bundles: Share a Milkshake  (includes dies)
• Paper:
  • Crumb Cake  (11" x 4-1/4" card base)  
  • Basic White (2-7/8" x 3-3/4", scraps for ice cream scoops & spoon die cuts ) 
  • Sweet Sorbet (2-7/8" x 3-3/4")
  • Mint Macaron (scrap for bowl die cut)
  • Country Gingham 6x6 Designer Series Paper (4" x 5-1/4")
• Ink:  Flirty Flamingo, Early Espresso, Sweet Sorbet
• Other:  Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, 2022-2024 In Color Baker's Twine (Sweet Sorbet), Stampin' Seal, Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals

 

DOstamping Tips:

• On white scraps, stamp two ice cream scoops (Early Espresso & Flirty Flamingo inks), then die cut.  Also, diee cut a 3rd ice cream scoop and spoon.
• Use the Wink of Stella Brush to add glitter to all three ice cream scoops (note:  add to back side of white scoop)
• Insert and adhere spoon die cut into Flirty Flamingo scoop with glue dot.  Thne adhere all 3 scoops together. 
• On white panel, stamp sentiment with Sweet Sorbet ink near bottom (as shown).  Then adhere dish and scoops with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Simple Stamping with Country Bouquet

Today I'm sharing a card that features #simplestamping using the Country Bouquet stamp set.

This card turned out exactly how I had it pictured in my mind.  That doesn't always happen.  But when it does, it makes my heart happy!

How'd She DO That? Country Bouquet Simple card

• Stamps/Bundles:  Country Bouquet
• Paper:
  • Basic White Thick (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base) 
  • Basic White (4" x 5-1/4", scraps for hearts & leaves) 
• Ink:  Sweet Sorbet, Mossy Meadow
• Other:  Paper Snips, 2022-2024 In Color Baker's Twine (Sweet Sorbet), 2022-3024 In Color Decorative Dots , Stampin' Seal, Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals

DOstamping Tips:

• Stamp and cut out two large hearts, one small heart and two leaves - using Sweet Sorbet & Mossy Meadow inks
• Arrange and adhere the 3 hearts together with Mini Glue Dots.
• Place hearts in lower corner of white panel (don't adhere yet)  - them stamp small hearts images where shown.  Move hearts out of the way to stamp the leafy images.
• Adhere hearts to card with Stampin' Dimensionals and tuck in leaves under the hearts, adhering with Glue Dots.
• Adhere bow with glue dot and place dots where desired.

I love the way it turned out!  What do you think?

Country Floral Lane Suite: 4-Corner Technique Card & Update

Here's another card featuring the 4-Corner Technique.  This time I'm using products from the Country Floral Lane Suite.

Update on the Country Floral Lane Suite:

• Currently the Country Floral Lane Suite Collection [160390] is not available to order due to the following products:

• I decided to share my Country Floral Lane Suite cards, as I have some really cute cards to share (more coming soon).   Plus...
  • For the ribbon,  you can substitute red ribbon from your own stash. 
  • Even though the punch makes for quicker cutting, the hearts and leaves shapes are basic shapes can easily be fussy cut out using our Paper Snips [103579].

How'd She DO That? Country Floral Lane Suite 4-Corner Technique CLUB Card

• Stamps/Bundles:  Country Bouquet Bundle (with County Bouquet Punch)

  • Basic White Thick (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base) 
  • Basic White (4" x 5-1/4" and scrap for 2-1/2" Stylish Shapes Circle die cut) 
  • Country Floral Lane Designer Series Paper (two 2" squares of same pattern, scrap of pattern that matches punch, 1" x 4" for inside)
• Ink:  Sweet Sorbet
• Other:  Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Stylish Shapes Die, Real Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo Pack, Pastel Adhesive Backed Sequins, Stampin' Seal, Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals

 

DOstamping Tips:

1. To create 4-corners that feature paper that has a directional pattern  (you don't want your hearts upside down, right?): 
   • Stack both 2" DSP squares together - same patterns facing each other, but be sure the patterns go in the same direction)
   • Use a Paper Trimmer to cut both together, on the diagonal - corner to corner.
   • On white panel, arrange and adhere each triangle in each of the four corners - again noting pattern direction.
