HSDT Video: Summer Silhouettes Just Cards Buffet Card

On last week's Control Freak Blog Tour, I shared my Summer Silhouettes Convention Swap Card. I received several comments and lots of requests for a video.  Also...as I mentioned, this was also a card I offered at my local Just Cards Buffet Class.  

What really gives this card it's dramatic results is the sponging - filling in the "white space".  Sponging is easy to do, you just need a little practice.

The touch of glitter adds a nice pop of sparkle too!  Above is a closer look at the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, that was adhered with a 2-Way Glue Pen.

QC Card: You've Got This Convention Swap

I haven't done a QC card share (quick & cute) in awhile.  So I thought I share one of the favorites from my Card Buffet class this past month, using the new You've Got This stamp set. 

 Take a closer look and you'll see I used the Handheld Stapler again...one of my favorite tools! 

Not only was it my card buffet ladies favorites, but mine too.  So much so, I made 80 of them!  Yep...it's one of my swaps for the Stampin' Up! Annual Convention starting tomorrow.  I'm flying my way to Salt Lake City today.  Looking forward to seeing my DOstamperSTARS team members and the many friends I'm made since joining Stampin' Up! over 12 years ago.  I'll share as much as I can while I'm gone and more when I get back.

Here are the details for Dawn's "Just Cards" Buffet TO GO Class:

1. You'll receive a variety of the card kits shown. You'll receive at least 5 or more different card kits, of which some you'll receive two of, for a total of 8 card kits. (Cards may not be hand selected, as they are packaged randomly.)  However, monthly subscribers will be guaranteed a full selection of all 7 card offerings (the 8th will be a duplicate of one).
2. Card kits include envelopes and the pre-cut card pieces and accessories for you to complete your card.  Adhesive is not included.
3. Details instructions are NOT provided.  Once the class is mailed to you, you will receive an email notice that will include the card kit PDF. The PDF will include a photo and supply list for each card.  Be sure to save the PDF to your computer to assist you in completing your card.  If you need detailed instructions, this class may not meet your needs.
4. Die cutting and shape punching will be completed for you (without stamped images).  However, most border punching is NOT provided.
5. Texture embossing will be completed for you as well, except when stamping first is necessary. 
6. Stamped images are NOT included in the card kits.  This is in accordance with Stampin' Up! copyright/angel policy.   If you do not have a specific stamp set used for a card, you may purchase them in my online store or you can substitute like-size or styled images.

Oh My Goodies: Create a Frame Stamp!

I'm having a little crush on the Oh My Goodies stamp set lately (did you see Monday's card).  But, as I was looking over the images, I didn't think I'd ever use the phrase, "Live Well, laugh hard, Love Big".  Does anyone ever really say that?

However, I really like the "outline frame" image and thought, "hmm...I wonder if I just cut out the words"?  I know, it's a scary thought, to cut up a stamp.  But I really didn't think I'd ever use the phrase...., so if I wrecked the words, I would be OK with that.  I just REALLY wanted the outline frame image and to be able to use it quickly and easily.  So I did it!  Got out my Paper Snips and snipped away at it.  It's not pretty, but it's functional.  And...I love it!

Here's the results.  I was able to "save" the words.  They'll actually fit back inside the frame, just in case I change my mind (you never know).  Now I can "frame" away.  Imagine all the things you could frame with it!

And then I made a card that I actually didn't frame anything, go figure.  Instead, I paired it with the Beautiful Bunch stamp set and Petite Petals Punch.  Add a greeting and you're ready to go!  

The paper is from the Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack again (from the Occasions Catalog, ending June 2nd).  I couldn't decide on the card layout...landscape or portrait?  So I made both.  Which do you prefer? 

If you take a closer look, you'll see the centers of the flowers are "dots" from the Cupcake Builder Punch.  They are a nice addition.

Oh My Goodies: Happy Umpteenth Birthday

Oh My Goodies!  I think this stamp set was designed as tags for goodies/treats.  But I'm lovin' it for cards right now. Plus, I think "Happy Umpteenth Birthday" is funny, and so did the gals at my Card Buffet class, as this card was a huge hit! 

The pattern paper on this card is from the Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack.  Even though it's designed for a "love" theme...remember to "flip it over" and you'll find all the backsides are black and white, giving this paper lots of versatility!

With a color scheme like this...I think this card would be great for both guys and gals, and even teenagers...don't you think?

Look really close...closer!  Do you see the staple (under the twine)?  Yup - again with that Handheld Stapler, Dawn!  That's right - it's my favorite tool right now.   And it's my favorite way to add Baker's Twine.  Just lay a piece a twine across where you want it.  Staple it down.  Then tie a bow.  I'm finding it much easier to tie a bow, as the staple keeps it in place, yet allows me to slide the finished bow left or right, for perfect placement.  Give it a try, I think you'll like it.  Don't forget to add the Silver Mini Staples to your order too.

Gorgeous Grunge with Lovely Amazing You Photopolmyer

I'm enjoying the Lovely Amazing You photopolymer stamp set (released Feb 2015).  It's not in the current catalog, but is available for at least a couple more months,  This great set is just what you need to spread happiness to all.  In fact, it could even be used to send good wishes for Mother's Day.   

 

This card was one of the favorites at my card buffet classes.  It features a fun "colorblock" look that is great for a Quick & Cute card (QC).  See below for measurements to create your own colorblock feature.

Color Block Feature 

• Basic Black panel (2-3/4" x 4")
• Whisper White greeting panel (2" x 1-3/8")
• Whisper White feather panel (1-5/8" x 2-1/2")
• Stacked With Love DSP panel (2" x 1")

The "splatter" was created by inking up a very small section of one of the stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.
