Stamping with the STARS #365: Patriotic Tailor Made Tag & Retiring Oval Occasions

How'd She DO That? Patriotic Tailor Made Tag card:

Stamps: Oval Occasions (retiring 6/30)
Paper:
- Basic White Thick (5-1/2" x 8-1/2" card base; 2-1/4" x 4-1/2" for tag die and scrap for stars)
- Misty Moonlight & Real Red (2-1/4" x 4-1/2" for tag die)
Ink: Misty Moonlight
Other: Tailor Made Tags Dies, Stitched Stars Dies, Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Red Rhinestones, Baker's Trine Essentials Pack, Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack, Paper Trimmer Mini Glue Dots, Stampin' Seal, Stampin' Dimensionals.

DOstamping Tag Tips:

Using largest angled corner tag die (Tailor Made Tag Dies), die cut 3 tags (Basic White, Misty Moonlight & Real Red cardstock).
For both the Misty Moonlight & Real Red tags, use Paper Trimmer to trim off 1-3/4" from the angled corners side. Adhere Misty Moonlight piece to Basic White tag die cut. (Note: you won't need the Real Red "corner" piece)
From the extra Real Red tag piece measuring approx. 2" x 2-1/8", cut it in half the long way to measure 1" x 2-1/8" and adhere to Basic White tag die cut.
Die cut a variety of stars (including the swirl stars). Arrange and adhere with Glue Dots.
Stamp sentiment on tag.

I was super happy with the way the card turned out. It came together quickly too. As I'm looking at it again, I'm imagining using different colors and making it a birthday card...cute!

DOstamping Tips:

For stamping pine boughs, stamp several times along the curve. Don't try to connect, instead stamp halfway over the previous images and continue along the curve. About halfway through the curve, turn the stamp around to finish stamping along the rest of the curve.
For double ribbon, fold ribbon into thirds, then use thread to tie off in the center (tight). Thread on Jingle Bell and tie into a bow. Adhere with Glue Dots.

Black Magic with a Wink & a Twist!

Today I'm sharing another Flourishing Phrases card with the Black Magic with a Twist technique. However, this one has a surprise...Wink of Stella! While playing around with this technique last month, I pulled out a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to do a little experimenting. I was delighted with the results!

Black Magic with a Wink & a Twist!

Stamp image (Flourishing Phrases) with Whisper White Craft ink on Basic Black cardstock that was die cut with largest square from Stitched Shaped Framelits. Let dry.
Color image with Pacific Point Watercolor Pencil. Only color 1/2 of each petal.
For the "wink", use a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and blend the blue color (staying on the half of petal)
For the "twist", use White Stampin' Chalk Marker to add the white dots (the "twist" of the dots really make the image pop!)
Adhere to 2-3/4" square of Pacific Point cardstock, then to 3" square of Whisper White cardstock. Then to 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Party Animal Designer Series Paper.
Stamp greeting with Whisper White craft ink on scrap of Basic Black cardstock. Let dry. Then die cut with oval shape from Stitched Shaped Framelits. Adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Wrap Basic Black Baker's Twine around panel twice and tie in a bow.
Adhere completed panel to folded 4-1/4" x 11" Basic Black card base.
Adhere 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White cardstock to inside of card

The camera caught a little bit of the glimmer from the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. In real life, it's gorgeous!

Above shows the results for different colored pencils.

Bottom = coloring only
Top = Wink of Stella added

For Lindsey: Better Together Thank You Notes in Gusseted Bag

A couple of Saturday's ago, I attended a wedding shower for my niece, Lindsey. In January, she's marrying a young man from Canada. I'm very excited for her to start her next journey of her life. Along with a shower gift, I also like to hand make thank-you cards for the bride-to-be. Here's what I created for her...

Better Together Thank You Cards

I stamped the greeting from Bunch of Blossoms first onto 3-3/8" x 4-7/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock.. Then stamped the cute little flower from Better Together with Archival Basic Black ink.
Once I stamped them all (I made 28 cards), then I quickly colored the blooms with an Aqua Painter using Sweet Sugarplum ink...just a quick swipe over the bloom (don't use too much water, as the paper will "pill" - I prefer a drier brush). Once they were mostly dry, I went over the center of the flowers with more color to add a little depth.
The leaves were colored with a Blender Pen and Mint Macaron ink.
Once everything was dry, I added a little bling with a Clear Wink of Stella.
Then adhere completed panel to folded Note cards & Envelopes...the perfect size for thank you cards!

Wrap completed cards and envelopes (along with postage stamps), in a Gusseted Cello Bag (5 x 11-1/2" - now retired. But the 6" x 17" bag #142001 could work too - just cut to the length you need - see video below for other uses).
Tie off with ribbon from 3/8" Ribbon Trio Pack.
Create tag with Scallop Tag Topper Punch. Decorate with flower as done on the cards. Tie onto bag with Whisper White Baker's Twine.

As you can see, there are lots of ways to use Gusseted Bags. Though, I still like packaging up cards the best!

Hat & Mittens Punch Art: Stampin' Up! Mitten Builder

I've been having fun playing with the NEW Stampin' Up! Mitten Builder Punch and matching stamp set, Make A Mitten.

Here's one of the cards I made this weekend. I used Stephanie Leider's Halloween Card Swap as inspiration for today's Mitten Builder card. I loved her color block design and was just waiting for the right images to use it with. I think the Hat & Mittens Punch Art are a perfect fit. Take a look...

Today's your lucky day...I'm sharing measurements for everything. I know these color block cards can be stricky to figure out. I'm in a good mood, so here you go:

Hat & Mittens Punch Art Color Block Card

Card base: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Whisper White
Base Layer: 4" x 5-1/4" Baja Breeze (add texture with Big Shot #113439 and Square Lattice TIEF #119976)
Focus Point Layer: 4-1/8" x 2-7/8" Cherry Cobbler (added with Stampin' Dimensionals)
Greeting: 3-7/8" x 3/4" Whisper White. Stamp "Christmas Cheer" from Sweet Essentials #126455w or 126457c in Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink

Mitten Builder Punch Art:

Punch Whisper White mittens with Mitten Builder Punch #127824
Punch Cherry Cobbler mitten tops with Mitten Builder Punch (Square Lattice texture was added before punching Cherry Cobbler cardstock)
Stamp "striped border" from Make a Mitten stamp set #127940w or #127943c in Cherry Cobbler Ink on strip of Whisper White cardstock and punch out just the "cuff" part with Mitten Builder Punch. Adhere to mittens.
Adhere mittens to 1-3/4"x 2-1/4" piece of Snow Festival DSP #126908, with Stampin' Dimensionals
Tie bow with Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine #123125 and add with glue dot

XL Oval Hat Punch Art:

Punch Cherry Cobbler "hat" with XL Oval Punch #119859 - cut in half. (Square Lattice texture was added before punching Cherry Cobbler cardstock)
Stamp striped border again in Cherry Cobbler on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.
Punch out with Word Window Punch #119857 and attach to the bottom of the hat. Trim off sides
There should be enough left of the stamped stripes to punch out a circle using the circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309. Note: The stripes will not go to the bottom of the punch, but that will be hidden when you attach it to the hat with a glue dot.
Adhere hat to 1-3/4"x 1-1/2" piece of Snow Festival DSP #126908, with Stampin' Dimensionals

Mitten Builder Punch #1278024

Make A Mitten Stamp set 127940w or 127943c

Snow Festival Designer Series Paper #126908

Double Time Stamping: Stampin' Up! Bright Blossoms Sneak Peek

When I first saw the Bright Blossoms stamp set from the Stampin' Up! Summer Smooches Promotion, my first thought was..."those images are kind of small. Not generally my style." But after playing around with this adorable set, I guess my style can change and evolve. I can be open to that - he he!

Here's a Bright Blossoms card I made for my Control Freak swap a few weeks ago and also a card for quick thank you notes (you can never have too many thank you notes)!

Speaking of "thank you"...the greeting on this card is from my all-time favorite stamp set, Thank you Kindly (111700). It's a must-have stamp set and I think I shed a little tear when I saw it on the retired list.

Those cute little flags may look like Designer Series Paper (DSP), but they are not. I stamped them using a "Doubletime Stamping" trick!

What is doubletime stamping? Good question! Doubletime Stamping is a little trick I learned many years ago from a papercrafting magazine. It's when you stamp an entire sheet of cardstock and then cut it up to use on many cards. Kind of like creating your own DSP.

Dawn's DoubleTime Stamping Tips

Select a stamp set was several coordinating images (Bright Blossoms)
Select 2-4 coordinating ink colors (I chose three...Real Red, Lucky Limeade and Tempting Turquoise)
Stamp 8-1/2" x 11" piece of Whisper White cardstock starting with your largest image. Stamp all over the entire sheet.
Take the next largest stamp image and stamp that all over the enter sheet, filling in and around the previous images.
Take the last image (the smallest) and stamp all over the sheet filling in the "white space".
Experiment with how "full" and "close" your want your images. If you're using it to cut into small peices like my card above, you'll want your cardstock to be really full of images and less white space. If you're using it for background paper, you can have more white space.
Cut your stamped sheet into the number of pieces your need for your project and enjoy!
