Wishes All Around: Out-of-the-Box Birthday Card

Today I'm sharing a fun out-of-the box idea using the Wishes All Around stamp set!

I was on a mission to use most every image in the Wishes All Around stamp set, which includes a "bonus" image!

Use the bonus image to create a fun circular background or even donuts!  Combine it with a lively and bright color combo for an out-of-the box Birthday card!

How'd She DO That? Heartfelt Hexagon Birthday card

• Stamps/Bundles: Heartfelt Hexagon Bundle (includes punch)
• Paper:
  • Highland Heather (11" x 4-1/4" card base) 
  • Basic White (4" x 5-1/4", scrap for punch)
• Ink:  Highland Heather, Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party
• Other:  Glossy Dot Assortment, Stampin' Seal, Stampin' Dimensionals

DOstamping Tips:

• To get a clean stamped image from bonus red rubber, you'll want to "rough" up the image a little bit.
• Use an eraser or fine grit sand paper in a circular motion.  Then clean the stamp and it's ready for ink!
• Using the stamping-off technique gives you a variety of cheerful colors for this card!  (stamp twice without reinking)
• The Heartfelt Hexagon sentiment is a fun way to say Happy Birthday!

This card was SO much fun to make!  Plus it's quick & cute - don't you think?

Stamping with the STARS #404: Rubberbands, Milkshakes & Kissing!

With a headline like that, did I get your attention?

The DOstamperSTARS are excited to bring you another Stamping with the STARS Inspiration Hop #DOswts405.  This week we're happy to share Rubberband Stamping Technique Inspiration with you.

Last fall, one of my team members, Beverly Jackson demonstrated the Rubberband Stamping Technique at our monthly DOstamperSTARS Zoom get-together.  It's been on my mind ever since then and I thought it would make a great theme for a Stamping with the STARS hop. So here we are!

The inspiration for my card...We have a local restaurant, the 50's Grill, and it's exactly what you might think.  Servers in pink & black, hamburgers, fries, homemade food (the best pot pies) and ice cream.  It's one of favorites - especially for birthdays! 

My grandkids like to get a Mint Chocolate Shake.  It's fun to see it brought to the table with all of the chocolate swirls showing through the glass.  So that's what I thought of for the Rubberband Stamping Technique.  

How'd She DO That? Share a Mint Chocolate Milkshake Tent card

• Bundle:  Share a Milkshake
• Paper:
  • Mint Macaron (4-1/4" x 8-1/2" card base scored at 4-1/4") 
  • Basic White (2-1/2" x 3-5/8", 5/8" x 2-1/8 for sentiment, scraps for whip cream, straw, cherry, tall glass die cuts) 
  • Early Espresso (2-7/8" x 4", scrap for chocolate die cut)
  • Country Gingham 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (4" square) 
• Ink:  Mint Macaron, Early Espresso, Melon Mambo
• Other:  Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Opaque Adhesive-Backed Gems, Stampin' Seal, Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals

 

So...what does Rubberbands, Milkshakes & Kissing have to do with each other?  Good question.  See my tips below.

DOstamping Tips:

1. Ink tall glass image with Mint Macaron ink, then stamp off on scratch paper.  DON'T STAMP ONTO PROJECT YET.
2. Wrap a couple of rubberbands around Block C - let some of them twist.
3. Ink up rubberbands with Early Espresso ink, then stamp off on scratch paper. 
4. This is where the kissing comes in...press the inked rubberbands onto the tall glass inked image.  Repeat until you get the look you're going for - I "kissed" 3 times in various places.
5.  Breathe onto image (to remoisten), then stamp onto scrap of white. 
6. Viola...a mint chocolate milkshake!

I love the way this Share a Milkshake & Rubberband Stamping Technique card turned out.  I think the boys would approve.

Stamping with the STARS #DOswts391: Decorated with Happiness Holiday Card

The DOstamperSTARS are excited to bring you another Stamping with the STARS Inspiration Hop #DOswts391.  This week we're sharing Christmas in July inspiration with you.

I've been itchin' to use the new Decorated with Happiness Bundle and today was the perfect opportunity to showcase it.  When I first saw the Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalog, I was immediately drawn to it.  And...it did not disappoint!

 

How'd She DO That? Decorated with Happiness card

• Stamps/Bundle:  Decorated with Happiness Bundle (includes Decorated Pines Dies)
• Paper:
  • Pool Party (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base scored at 4-1/4") 
  • Basic White (4” x 5-1/4”) 
  • Basic White (scraps for ornaments)
• Ink: Garden Green, Real Red, Pool Party
• Other:  Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss, Decorated Pines Dies, Festive Pearls, Stampin' Seal, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals

 

DOstamping Tips:

• All of the ornament "outline" images were stamped with Real Red ink, on Basic White cardstock.
• The key to this card is the Stamping Off Technique. 
  • Ink up the "fill-in" images, then stamp once (or twice) on a scratch paper, then stamp inside outline images to create a lighter version of the ink color.
• Have fun playing  around with a variety of coordinating colors!
• And...don't forget the embellishments.  The new Festive Pearls were the perfect touch (includes Real Red, Silver, Gold & Soft Succulent).

 

I did this card for a swap with my DOstamperSTARS Team.  One of the many activities we do throughout the year.  I did wafflle between which direction to go with, portrait or landscape.

Stamping with the STARS #365: Patriotic Tailor Made Tag & Retiring Oval Occasions

With 4th of July just around the corner, this week we're sharing  patriotic inspiration.

How'd She DO That? Patriotic Tailor Made Tag card:

• Stamps: Oval Occasions (retiring 6/30)
• Paper:
  • Basic White Thick (5-1/2" x 8-1/2" card base; 2-1/4" x 4-1/2" for tag die and scrap for stars)
  • Misty Moonlight & Real Red (2-1/4" x 4-1/2" for tag die)
• Ink: Misty Moonlight
• Other:   Tailor Made Tags Dies, Stitched Stars Dies, Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Red Rhinestones, Baker's Trine Essentials Pack, Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack, Paper Trimmer Mini Glue Dots, Stampin' Seal, Stampin' Dimensionals.

DOstamping Tag Tips:

• Using largest angled corner tag die (Tailor Made Tag Dies), die cut 3 tags (Basic White, Misty Moonlight & Real Red cardstock).
• For both the Misty Moonlight & Real Red tags, use Paper Trimmer to trim off 1-3/4" from the angled corners side.  Adhere Misty Moonlight piece to Basic White tag die cut.  (Note: you won't need the Real Red "corner" piece)
• From the extra Real Red tag piece measuring approx. 2" x 2-1/8", cut it in half the long way to measure 1" x 2-1/8" and adhere to Basic White tag die cut.   
• Die cut a variety of stars (including the swirl stars).  Arrange and adhere with Glue Dots.  
• Stamp sentiment on tag.  

I was super happy with the way the card turned out.  It came together quickly too.  As I'm looking at it again, I'm imagining using different colors and making it a birthday card...cute!

DOstamping Tips:

• For stamping pine boughs, stamp several times along the curve.  Don't try to connect, instead stamp halfway over the previous images and continue along the curve. About halfway through the curve, turn the stamp around to finish stamping along the rest of the curve.
• For double ribbon, fold ribbon into thirds, then use thread to tie off in the center (tight).  Thread on Jingle Bell and tie into a bow. Adhere with Glue Dots.

Black Magic with a Wink & a Twist!

Today I'm sharing another Flourishing Phrases card with the Black Magic with a Twist technique.  However, this one has a surprise...Wink of Stella!  While playing around with this technique last month, I pulled out a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to do a little experimenting.  I was delighted with the results!

Black Magic with a Wink & a Twist!

1. Stamp image (Flourishing Phrases) with Whisper White Craft ink on Basic Black cardstock that was die cut with largest square from Stitched Shaped Framelits. Let dry.  
2. Color image with Pacific Point Watercolor Pencil.  Only color 1/2 of each petal.
3. For the "wink", use a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and blend the blue color (staying on the half of petal)
4. For the "twist", use White Stampin' Chalk Marker to add the white dots (the "twist" of the dots really make the image pop!)
5. Adhere to 2-3/4" square of Pacific Point cardstock, then to 3" square of Whisper White cardstock.  Then to 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Party Animal Designer Series Paper.
6. Stamp greeting with Whisper White craft ink on scrap of Basic Black cardstock.  Let dry.  Then die cut with oval shape from Stitched Shaped Framelits.  Adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals.
7. Wrap Basic Black Baker's Twine around panel twice and tie in a bow.
8. Adhere completed panel to folded 4-1/4" x 11" Basic Black card base.
9. Adhere 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White cardstock to inside of card

The camera caught a little bit of the glimmer from the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.  In real life, it's gorgeous!

 

Above shows the results for different colored pencils.  

• Bottom = coloring only
• Top = Wink of Stella added

For Lindsey: Better Together Thank You Notes in Gusseted Bag

A couple of Saturday's ago, I attended a wedding shower for my niece, Lindsey.  In January, she's marrying a young man from Canada.  I'm very excited for her to start her next journey of her life.  Along with a shower gift, I also like to hand make thank-you cards for the bride-to-be. Here's what I created for her...

Better Together Thank You Cards

• I stamped the greeting from Bunch of Blossoms first onto 3-3/8" x 4-7/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock..  Then stamped the cute little flower from Better Together with Archival Basic Black ink.  
• Once I stamped them all (I made 28 cards), then I quickly colored the blooms with an Aqua Painter using Sweet Sugarplum ink...just a quick swipe over the bloom (don't use too much water, as the paper will "pill" - I prefer a drier brush).  Once they were mostly dry, I went over the center of the flowers with more color to add a little depth.  
• The leaves were colored with a Blender Pen and Mint Macaron ink.
• Once everything was dry, I added a little bling with a Clear Wink of Stella.
• Then adhere completed panel to folded Note cards & Envelopes...the perfect size for thank you cards!

 

 

• Wrap completed cards and envelopes (along with postage stamps), in a Gusseted Cello Bag (5 x 11-1/2" - now retired.  But the 6" x 17" bag #142001 could work too - just cut to the length you need - see video below for other uses).
• Tie off with ribbon from 3/8" Ribbon Trio Pack.
• Create tag with Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  Decorate with flower as done on the cards.  Tie onto bag with Whisper White Baker's Twine.

As you can see, there are lots of ways to use Gusseted Bags.  Though, I still like packaging up cards the best!
