Stamping With The Stars Inspiration Hop: Pop up Diorama Fun Fold cards

February 09, 2019

I've heard from many of you that you've been missing the DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenges. We took a break from them during the holidays. Then decided we wanted to change it up.

I'm excited to introduce...Stamping with the STARS!

We'll now be sharing inspiration on Saturdays, twice a month. Not only will you be able to see creations shared on our inspiration hops, but you will also be able to see inspiration shared on Facebook via hashtags. This week's hash tag is #DOswts308.

NOTE: as this is the first time we've added Facebook to our sharing, it may take a couple months to get up and running on that platform (as more STARS join in). But we're excited to give you another option to see our creations!

This week we're sharing ideas made using the Pop-up Diorama Fun Fold card!

There are lots of tutorials out there with different measurements. I used the Splitcoaststampers Tutorial, that was done by my friend, Julie Davison. See measurements, scoring and tips below.

How'd She DO That? tips for Sweetest Thing card:

Stamps: Sweetest Thing
Paper:
- Gorgeous Grape (10-1/2" x 5-1/2" - score at 3-1/2, 6-1/2, 7" and 10")
- Gorgeous Grape (1/2" x 3-1/4", 1/2" x 2-3/4")
- Whisper White (2-3/4" x 5-1/4", scraps for labels
- How Sweet It Is Designer Series Paper (5-1/4" x 6-1/2", 2-3/4" x 1", and scraps for die cutting jars)
Ink: Highland Heather, Coastal Cabana
Other: Big Shot, Jar of Sweets Framelits Dies, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Tear & Tape, and Stampin' Dimensionals

DOstamping Tips:

Score card, then fold on all score lines. Then fold flat, it into thirds, to make sure everything lines up.
Then burnish the edges with a Bone Folder.
Before adhering together, cut opening with a punch or die shape. (this is important to do in the right order...how do I know? ha!)
To adhere, fold it flat again, into thirds, allowing the adhesive to naturally adhere where it needs to go.
Burnish the adhesive area, then open it up and voila!

Did you know?

Some of the shapes on the How Sweet It Is Designer Series Paper match the shape of the coordinating Jar of Sweets Framelits Dies.
How sweet!!

When you use a darker color for your card, you'll want to add a white layer to the left inside panel.
Then there will be a place to sign your card.

I had SO much fun putting this card together. The Pop-Up Diorama card is not only a fun fold, but it's an easy fold! Give it a try...I think you'll like it.

DOstamperSTARS Hop: Valentine Candy Packaging with Be Mine Framelits

January 19, 2019

The DOstamperSTARS are excited to share Valentine Candy Packaging inspiration with you today! Our hop with be live at 9am (CT) today.

I was strolling the Valentine candy aisle a few weeks ago and came across these fun Dove Love Notes Caramel & Milk Chocolate Candy.

Come to discover, when I opened my package, I was able to spell out a couple of words like; kiss & love. I knew right away I wanted to make some sort of window box packaging. So, through trial and error, I came up with a cute heart shape window box using the Be Mine Stitched Framelit Dies.

How'd She DO That? tips for DIY Dove Love Notes Candy Box:

Crumb Cake (6-1/2" x 3", score at 1/2", 3", 3-1/2" and 6". Turn and score at 1/2")
Whisper White (scrap for Classic Label Punch)
Window Sheets (2-3/8" x 2-5/8")

Use the 2-1/8" x 2-1/4" Be Mine Stitched Heart Framelit to die cut window.
Adhere window sheet with glue dot in each corner.
Assemble box with Tear & Tape Adhesive
Punch 1/8" hole on each side.
Thread ribbon through and tie off each end.
Add greeting (punched with Classic Label Punch) with Whisper White Baker's Twine.
Fill with Dove Love Notes candy

I forgot to tell you...I'm completely in love with the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies (you had me at "stitched"!).

When you begin to die cut with them, you'll be surprised at all of the clever cutting options there are. It's definitely a must-have for any papercrafter! You'll find LOTS of uses for them. Be sure to add it to your shopping bag today, so you can get started on your Valentine and love crafting.

Featuring DOstamperSTAR Terry Rajala

Today's stunning card was created by one of my DOstamperSTAR Team Members, Terry Rajala.

Let me tell you a little bit about Terry. She was a local customer of mine for many years, who attended any event/class I held. Terry was the kind of customer who knew a lot about stamping and generously shared it with others. She always helped someone who might have been struggling at her table and more! For the past few years, I've been suggesting that Terry become a demonstrator and join my team, as she would be a natural. Well...last Sale-a-Bration she joined! And I'm so delighted to have her on my team.

Her card was SO stunning on the outside, that I never opened the clear envelope we use when swapping, to see the inside. When I opened it to take a photo, "WOW" was all I could say! I can't believe I waited so long. Lesson learned...open the cards, there might be something special inside!

I'm happy to share her card with you today!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #307: Punches are a Stampers Best Friend!

December 12, 2018

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Product Spotlight" challenge.

That's right, punches ARE a stampers best friend. Why...because with a quick stamp and punch, you've got an easy-to-make embellishment for your cards.

Stampin' Up! has a large offering of punches. I chose the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch, and the coordinating Making Christmas Bright stamp set (bundle % save 10%). It was an easy choice, as it was another card I offered at my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack class. The ladies found it a little fussy at first, but when their card all came together, I heard a lot of, "oh, that was worth it"!

How'd She DO That? Christmas Bulb card:

- Color (2 of 4" x 5-1/4", scraps for punching)

Dawn's Tips:

For the best stamping impression...be sure to clean the "bulb" stamps before stamping. This will remove any manufacturing film.
Use the Stamparatus to stamp the greeting and string of lights - makes for quick and perfect stamping alignment!
Though you can't see it in the photo, Wink of Stella was added to the word "shine".
