DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #307: Punches are a Stampers Best Friend!

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Product Spotlight" challenge.

That's right, punches ARE a stampers best friend. Why...because with a quick stamp and punch, you've got an easy-to-make embellishment for your cards.

Stampin' Up! has a large offering of punches. I chose the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch, and the coordinating Making Christmas Bright stamp set (bundle % save 10%). It was an easy choice, as it was another card I offered at my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack class. The ladies found it a little fussy at first, but when their card all came together, I heard a lot of, "oh, that was worth it"!

Dawn's Tips:

For the best stamping impression...be sure to clean the "bulb" stamps before stamping. This will remove any manufacturing film.
Use the Stamparatus to stamp the greeting and string of lights - makes for quick and perfect stamping alignment!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #306: Under the Mistletoe Tree Card

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge.

My eye was drawn towards the plaid patterns on the packaging for today's challenge. I first thought of the retiring Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalog. But then thought I should give the Annual Catalog a little attention and pulled out the Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper.

How'd She DO That tips for Sweetly Stitched Tree card:

If you look closely at the tree shape - that is not a stamp for the stitching - that comes from the die itself. DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #302: Fall Winter Woods

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge.

Feels like fall!

At least that's what I saw when working on this week's DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.

My husband had a birthday last week and this was the card I made for him. It wasn't exactly what I had in my head when I first started, but I think it turned out nicely. And more importantly, he really liked it. That's why we make cards, right?

How'd She DO That? tips for Fall Winter Woods card:

Stamps: Winter Woods, Beautiful Day
Paper:
- Whisper White Thick (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base)
- Whisper White (4" x 5-1/4")
- Early Espresso (2-3/8" x 4-1/4" for curved edgelit)
Ink: Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie
Other: Big Shot, Into the Woods, Crumb Cake 3/8" Classic Weave Ribbon, Leaves Trinkets, Stamping Sponges, Glue Dots &SNAIL

Dawn's Sponging Technique Tips:

To get the ombre look, use Stamping Sponges
Sponge on ink using a circular motion
Start with the lightest color, working from the bottom to the top with the darkest color.
I used Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and just a touch of Pumpkin Pie.
I actually make a panel with Crajun Craze at the top, but it was too dark for my liking.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #297: Cauldron Bubble Bundle

For me, the obvious choice for this week's inspiration was to use the new Toil & Trouble Suite products. They are so much fun to play with. In fact, I have several more ideas to share with you in the coming days!

How'd She DO That? tips for Witch's Hat card:

Before Stampin' Blends, I was not much for coloring. Now look at me...I look like an artist. That's my favorite thing about Stampin' Blends!

The photo didn't pick it up at all, but I have to mention it. My grandson, Max applied Wink of Stella Glitter to the stars on the hat. In addition, he punched all of the 2" circles and helped with Stampin' Dimensionals. He hasn't crafted with me in awhile and I was excited to have him offer to help - yay...so much fun!

I'm lovin' these little spider trinkets and had to use one on this card. I found an easy way to attach them and tie on the twine.

Spider Trinket Tip:

attach Spider Trinket on witch hat with glue dots
now that the spider is "anchored" it's much easier to thread the twine through the jump ring and tie in a bow.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #292: Tropical Chic

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge.

For this week's challenge, I knew immediately what Stampin' Up! products I would use, the Tropical Escape Suite.

From the first time I looked at the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog - I completely fell in love with this suite. Two reasons, 1) I adore the color combination used in the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper and 2) The window leaf shape from the Tropical Thinlits Dies is to die for! And I got to incorporate them both today!

How'd She DO That tips for Tropical Chic card:

Stamps: Tropical Chic
Paper:
- Basic Black (11" x 4-1/4" card base)
- Blushing Bride(4" x 5-1/4")
- Granny Apple Green (scrap for leaves die cut)
- Whisper White (3-3/4" x 3-3/4" behind window, 2-3/4" x 1" greeting, scrap for flower & leaf.
- Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper (4" x 1")
Ink: Blushing Bride, Granny Apple Green, Tuxedo Black Memento
Other: Big Shot, Tropical Thinlits, Granny Apple Green Ribbon, Basic Black Baker's Twine, Mini Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals
Tip:
- After die cutting window shape in Blushing Bride panel, adhere 3-3/4" white square to back side, keeping the adhesive to the edges of the square.
- Die cut Granny Apple Green "nested" leaves together at the same time. Adhere with glue dots.
- Fold 3-1/2" of ribbon in half, wrap black twine around it and finish in a bow. Adhere with a glue dot.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #287: Birthday Backgrounds Fireworks

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge.

During my first look-through of the catalog, I immediately thought of fireworks for the Birthday Backgrounds stamp set. This card has been in my head since then and today it's perfect for our photo inspiration Thursday Challenge.

How'd She DO That? tips for Celebrate card:

Stamps: Birthday Backgrounds, Picture Perfect Birthday
Paper:
- Whisper White Thick (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base)
- Whisper White (4" x 5-1/4 and scrap for 2" Circle Punch)
- Blueberry Bushel (1-1/2" x 5-1/4")
- Real Red (3/8" x 5-1/4" and scrap for Starburst Punch)
Ink: Real Red, Blueberry Bushel
Other: 2" Circle Punch, Starburst Punch, Silver/Whisper White Baker's Twine, Basic Red Rhinestones & Stampin' Dimensionals

And look...I got to use the new Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels. It made me giddy! I put several throughout the card.

Apparently I like the 2" Circle and Starburst Punches, as I've been using them a lot lately. For me, punches are great for quick and cute cards. If you don't already have these two punches, I highly recommend adding them to your punch collection!

I suspect many of you will be spending next week with your family and celebrating the 4th of July. Be safe!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #282: We Must Celebrate

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge.

For this week's inspiration photo challenge, I chose to focus on the colors, as I don't have much in the way of "beachy" themed stamp sets. I pulled out the soon-to-be-retired We Must Celebrate stamp set (from the 2018 Occasions Catalog) and had a little fun with those cute critters. When you do the stamping, these cute critters do the celebrating

The Tree Rings background stamp is great for pairing with nature sets, but also a good choice to compliment these woodsy critters as well!

How'd She DO That? tips for We Must Celebrate card:

Stamps: We Must Celebrate (retiring), Tree Rings
Paper:
- Thick Whisper (11" x 4-1/4" card base, 2" x 4-1/4")
- Crumb Cake (4" x 5-1/4")
- Black (two scraps of at least 4-1/4" long strips for Decorative Ribbon Border Punch)
- Pool Party (1/2" x 3/4" for small banner)
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Crumb Cake
Stampin Blends:
- Squirrel = Ivory & Bronze
- Raccoon and Rabbit = Light and Dark Smoky Slate
- Rabbit nose = Light Pink Pirouette (retiring)
- Bear = Light and Dark Crumb Cake
- Shadow = Light Pool Party
Watercolor Pencils: Snail = Pumpkin Pie & Early Espresso
Other: Linen Thread, Decorative Ribbon Border, Blender Pen, SNAIL, Glue Dots
Tips: Watercolor Pencils were used to color the "snail" so the color wouldn't bleed through to the back of the card.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #277: Memories & More meets Tailored Tag Punch

t's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge.

It's getting to be that time of year when I look around and find anything I've neglected. The Memories & More Perfect Days Card Pack (retiring) was one of those items. So I paired it with the new Tailored Tag Punch for today's photo inspiration challenge

How'd She DO That tips for Tailored Tag card:

Stamps: Pieces & Patterns
Paper:
- Emerald Envy (11" x 4-1/4" card base)
- Whisper White (4" x 5-1/4" and 3-3/4" x 5")
- Perfect Days Memories & More Card Pack
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
Other: Tailored Tag Punch, Soft Sky Classic Weave Ribbon, Linen Thread, Metallics Sequin Assortment, Tutti Frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins, Stampin' Dimensionals, Glue Dots, & Fine Tip Glue Pen
Tip: Don't overlook Memories & More packs for patterned paper.
- punch out a variety of patterns.
- arrange them onto a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White yardstick until you get a layout that is pleasing to the eye.
- adhere with SNAIL adhesive, then use Paper Snips to cut off any that is hanging over the edges.
