Still Time to Get FREE Stampin' Up! Digital Downloads

Today's project is a My Digital Studio hybrid card.  Meaning - I designed it in My Digital Studio software using the FREE Home for the Holidays digital download.  I printed it on Whisper White cardstock using my own printer.  Then I added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the falling snow and snow on the roofs using a 2-Way Glue Pen.  The mat is Crumb Cake and base is Cherry Cobbler.

Holiday-MDS-Card-Glitter

OK, I confess.  When I said "designed" early...I really meant, I used the 5"x 3-1/2" postcard invitation template that came with the download.  Nothing could be quicker!

Blog Tour Pic

Welcome to the Control Freaks February 2010 Tour.  We are thrilled to have you join us today. I'm your 8th stop this month.  Our tour is nice and short, and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers.  In fact, if you started in the middle of the tour, you may have just come from my friend Gretchen Barron's blog - welcome!

Our theme for this month is:  It's My Party!

Well - it's not my party, but it will be Max's party in a couple of months.  If you're a follower of mine, you know who Max is.  He's my grandson and he'll be turning FOUR in two months.  Wow - I can't believe he'll be four.  Seems like yesterday he was just a baby.  But I digress.

To get ready for his upcoming birthday, I've make a My Digital Studio Hybrid (both digital and real-life) invitation and other matching items with Stampin' Up!'s Birthday Bash Suite Products.  Which include the stamp set "Party this Way" (#118744), Celebrations Designer Series Paper (#117164) and Celebrations Digital Kit (#123728) from My Digital Studio!!!

Here are the components I created using My Digital Studio:

Max Turns 4-003

Side note:  I felt like I was channeling Patty Bennett when I was working on the above My Digital Studio components - he he!!

Here's the invite:

Side-View

Now, it's cute just like this, but...it's even cuter made into an easel card!!

Easel-open

How fun is that?  I love the "word play" on his name.  That was my husband's contribution to the card.  Oh - forgot to mention - the actual invitation slips out.  Just pull on the Round Tab at the top.

Here's the candy and cake decorations...

Candy

Cupcake-Markers

The cupcake markers were punched out with a 1-3/4" Circle Punch.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals to attached them to a toothpick.

Do you think he'll like it?  More importantly...do you think his mom (my daughter Angie) will like it?

Stamps:  Party This Way
Ink:  Pacific Point
Paper:   Pacific Point, Real Red, Whisper White  cardstock and Celebrations Designer Series Paper
Accessories:  My Digital Studio (Celebrations Digital Kit, Typewriter Numbers, Introducing), 1-3/4" Circle punch, Round Tab Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stapler, Toothpicks

Well, that wraps up this stop of the tour.  I hope you enjoyed it.  Now on to more party inspiration from the always creative Wendy Weixler - she has an awesome project to share with you - you'll love it!

Ho Ho Hostess Apprecation Event: MDS Invitation and Make & Takes

I held my Annual Hostess Appreciation event this past Sunday.  Actually, it was supposed to be the Sunday before, but here in Minnesota, we got slammed with LOTS of snow that day.  So I had to reschedule.

I created the invitation using My Digital Studio.  I love the way it turned out!  If you were in my clubs or had a workshop in 2010, you were invited to my special event.

Invite-Header

Here are the projects everyone got to make:

Projects

They made a Christmas Card, Fancy Favor Double Stacked Gift Box and a Gift Card Holder.

If you don't recognize the pattern paper, that's because it's from a retired Simply Scrappin' kit.  But you could use Stampin' Up!'s Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper instead.  The poinsettia's were made with the 5-Petal Flower Punch,.  The greeting is from the Contempo Christmas stamp set.  If you'd like more information on the gift box and gift card holder see the links below for measurements and videos:

If you'd like to attend my Annual Hostess event, consider joining a club and having a workshop with me in 2011.  If you live in the west of the Twin Cities, I'm booking parties for Sale-A-Bration now!

What is Sale-a-Bration?
Well, just the most fun time of the year for stamping!  When you purchase $50 of Stampin' Up! product, you receive a free product from the Sale-a-Bration brochure (purchase $100 and get two products and hostesses with $300 in sales, receive a free product too!).  This year, not only can you choose stamp sets, but there is also a ribbon/button pack, Designer Series Paper with Quick Accents, a My Digital Studio CD and more!!

Happy Holidays ~ Dawn O

Controlfreak Tour: Oh Sew Suite for My Digital Studio

Blog Tour Pic

Welcome to the Control Freaks December 2010 Tour.  We are thrilled to have you join us today. I'm your first stop this month and am excited to kick things off!  Our tour is nice and short, and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers.  In fact, if you started in the middle of the tour, you may have just come from Lisa Young's blog - welcome!

This month's theme is Stampin' Up! 2011 Mini Occasions and Sale-a-Bration Catalogs Sneak Peak.

I'm so excited that Stampin' Up! is releasing 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog My Digital Studio downloads!  Wow - that's a mouthful to say. There will be several to choose from and I chose to use the Sweet Stitches Designer Series Paper download for my tour projects this month.  Let's get started...

First up is my Thanks Sew Much Card
That's "custom-made" Designer Series Paper you see in the background of my card - from My Digital Studio.  The "paper" is a combination of two of the new Sweet Stiches digital patterns and I added NINE Melon Mambo brads to it.  I would never do that IRL - but when you're crafting digitally, you can throw everything and the kitchen sink at it!!!

My card is actually a hybrid, as I added "real-life" stamping and embellishments afterwards.  The sewing maching image is from a new stamp set called Sew Suite and is stamped in Melon Mambo on So Saffron.

Thanks-So-Much2

 Thanks-So-Much-cu

The button brad is from our new Sweet Stitches Fabric Designer Brads pack (includes four of six designs) - SEW CUTE!!!

Speaking of Buttons and Brads...how freakin' cute are these Button Jars?  I'm just giddy over them!  Wouldn't they look cute sitting on your crafting table?

Buttons1

Buttons2

The "labels" on both of these jars were printed using my printer and My Digital Studio.  They came from one of the patterns of the Sweet Stitches download, which has lots of "button" labels to choose from.  However, to fit on my jars, I needed to size them a bit smaller.  A great feature of digital crafting.

I finished them off with our new Pom Pom Trim at the top and viola - FREAKIN' ADORABLE!

Buttons3

Well, that wraps up this stop of the tour.  I hope you enjoyed it.  Now on to more sneak peaks from my wonderfully talented friend, Gretchen Barron.

Tour De Freaks October Blog Hop Tour!

Welcome to the October Tour de Freak tour which officially starts October 20th!  We are so excited that you have joined us today on our fifth Blog Tour.  This month we are featuring Christmas Cards!

Our tour is nice and short and features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers.  I'm stop #9, but you may have come here by way of Erin's Blog.  If so, welcome!  At the end of my post you will be directed to the next stop so make sure to keep on reading and don’t forget to click through on to Shona Watson's blog.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the tour!

I'm starting off with Stampin' Up!'s newest product...My Digital Studio!  I used elements from the Christmas Jingle Designer Kit, Old Saint Nick Stamp set (not in our main catalog) and Alpine Ribbon.  The first image is the digital image and the second is a photo of my printed card.

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, my digital studio

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, my digital studio

Here's another one that I did in Real Red.  Then I wondered what it would look like with the colors reversed.

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, my digital studio

Here they are printed out.

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, my digital studio

I printed all three My Digital Studio cards on my own printer which does print border to border.  If you do want to print from your own computer, beware of the following:

1)  The Real Red card took a LOT of my ink cartridge.
2)  The printed color does not match Stampin' Up! Real Red.
3)  If you want to do "hybrd" papercrafting (printing and adding "real-live" embellishment), the colors are not guaranteed to match.

Now onto my handstamped cards...

One of my favorite new stamp sets is Autumn Days.  I love all of the different "nature" style stamps...great variety.  I was really drawn to the pinecone image.  So that is what I used for my last two cards.

I made one quick and easy, for mass producing your holiday cards.  The other card is for that very special person in your life!

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, autumn days

Aren't they beautiful?  I so happy with the way they turned out.

Here's the quick and easy card which was inspired by a Halloween card I received from Penny at Founder's Circle.

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, autumn days

Supplies:  Autumn Days, Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Sets, Very Vanilla cardstock, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip Markers, Old Olive 1-1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here is my "step-it-up" card...

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, autumn days

Tips for the "step-it-up" card:

1)  Use sponge daubers (vs. Markers) to ink up your stamp.  This is quicker and less stress on your markers, especially when you're doing several repeat images.

2)  I used a Versamarker to add versamark ink to select places on the pinecones.  Then embossed those areas with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder (hard to see in the picture).

3)  The PEACE is from a verse that comes with the "Gifts of Christmas" stamp set.  Use a marker to ink up the word you want.  You get more use out of your stamps this way.

Supplies:  Autumn Days, Gifts of Christmas (for peace), Very Vanilla & Chocolate Chip cardstock, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip Ink Pads & Sponge Daubers, Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Chocolate Chip 1-1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Gold Cording, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, Word Window Punch, 1/16" punch, Versamarker, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Stampin' Dimensionals.

I  hope you enjoyed this stop on the Tour De Freaks Tour.  Be sure to visit the next stop with Shona.  We look forward to seeing you again on December 20th for our next Tour de Freaks Blog Tour!

Enjoy~Dawn O
