DOstamperSTARS Challenge: An American in Paris & Spinning Star

I love this week's DOstampSTARS Challenge, as it's a Musical Mania one!  And I love musicals.  Get a bowl of popcorn and your favorite soda.  Then curl up on the couch with a warm and fuzzy blanket.  There is no better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  Especially if its raining.  Like it's been doing here in MN the past few days.  But I digress...

Today's challenge is An American in Paris.  Any movie Gene Kelly is in and I know I'm gonna love it!  Watch Gene Kelly on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvglHa_P9BA.  It should put you in the mood for today's challenge.  Or at the very least, it should put a smile on your face :)

I love the way this turned out.  But I'm afraid to say...I used punches that are retired.  But if you have any small and large star punches, this technqiue will work.  last year.  I just had to share anyways.

Now on to the cool part...the STAR SPINS!  Yes, it really does!
Wanna know how to make one of your own?  Of course you do!  Check out my...

DOstamperSTARS #SSC049: Stampin' Up! Flower Fest Scallop Circle Easel Card

As soon as I saw this weeks DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #SSC049, I immediately thought of Stampin' Up!'s Basic Black 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.  Which is one of my favorite ribbons!  Say, did you know...this ribbon is SO soft and pliable.  You'd think it would be a little on the heavy side - however to my surprise, it is very lightweight and easy to use.  But I digress...back to the challenge.

SSC037: Word Play & Funny Girl, a Great Match!

When I saw this week's DOstamperSTARS Challenge, Musical Mania: "Funny Girl", I immediately thought of the "Word Play" stamp set by Stampin' Up!  I also wanted to keep it simple.  Because I think a funny girl would want it simple, with very little frufru.

Here's this week's challenge... Musical Mania: Funny Girl

#SSC033 Thursday Challenge: Wizard of Oz and Glimmer Paper!

It's Thursday already...I can't believe another week has flown by!  Are you ready for a new Challenge Thursday.  Today's challenge is a "Musical Mania" challenge, #SSC033!

Our inspiration for this week's challenge is the musical, "The Wizard of Oz."  Specifically Dorothy's Ruby Slippers. Use Stampin' Up!'s new Red Glimmer Paper (or add glitter to red card stock or red stamped images).
SSC033-Wizard-of-Oz
Here's my card that features Stampin' Up! Red Glimmer Paper (from the 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog)...

The technique I used on the "background" piece is called Herringbone Technique.  I wanted to do this technique because it kind of reminds of the pattern of the yellow brick road.  I love the way it turned out - woohoo!
TV1 Wanna learn how to do the Herribone Technique?  I have a "How'd She DO That? Video on this technique and you can view it by clicking HERE.

So, have you gotten your Red Glimmer Paper (#121790) yet?  It's SO much fun to play with.  It comes in (2) 12x12 sheets.  It's easy to cut, punch or run through the Big Shot!  Plus...it doesn't brush off or make a mess.  Get yours today!
