Stampin' Up! Summer Mini Gotta Have: Motorcycle and Motion Stamping!

The Stampin' Up! Motorcycle stamp just screams for this fun technique called Motion Stamping.  Plus - add in the Travel Journal Designer Series Paper to give it a Harley Davidson feel and you'll "rev it up" for your favorite guy!  If you haven't purchased your very own Motorcyle stamp yet, you only have a few weeks left (the Summer Mini Catalog ends August 31st)!

Whether a motorcycle enthusiast or not -every guy out there would totally love receiving a card like this...

Motocycle-Card

1.PushPin-Note-Reminder-35 Dawns Stamping Tips - Stamping Motion Technique

SmoochCU

1.PushPin-Note-Reminder-35 Dawns Stamping Tips - Smooch Spritz Misting
Yes, there's a hint of Silver Foil (#118771) Smooch Spritz on the cogs.

1.  Shake WELL, then shake again!
2.  Aim correctly!  Make sure nozzle is facing in the right direction (don't ask!)

3.
You NEED the Color Catcher (#121093) when using the Smooch Spritz product.  Why, you ask?  See #2!
4. For the best results - you should be at least 18" away from your cardstock.

Grads & Dads: Motorcycle

What Dad doesn't dream of having a motorcycle?  Probably not many!  This Motorcyle (#117657) stamp is one of Stampin' Up! a ala carte stamps...meaning, it's sold individually (in the Summer Mini Catalog).  For only $8.95, you can make some fun masculine cards!

Here are a couple of swaps I received that convinced me I HAD to have the Motorcycle stamp!

MotorcyleSBswap

I did this one at a shoebox swap event.  It was designed by Denise Wilson!

Carol-Motorcycle

I just couldn't get a good picture of Carol's card.  She used Silver Foil Smooch Spritz on her card - which was the perfect touch for the motorcycle.  She even finished off the inside too!

Thanks gals!!

June Wicked Challenges for Splitcoaststampers

I received a message from my friend Jana Emmert a few months ago and the subject line read, "Do You Feel Wicked?"  I said, "Huh?"  But when I read it, to my delight, she invited me to host Splitcoaststampers June's Wicked Challenges on their demo forum.

Not a demonstrator?  That's OK.  Feel free to play along and share your creations using the challenges below.

What are Wicked Challenges?  Wonderfully Inspiring Challenges Keep Educating Demos!

Here are my challenges for June 2010:

1.  Say Goodbye to Stampin' Up! In Color Dusty Durango.  Because...I'm not sure why... but I have a lot of it!  Maybe you do too, so use it up!  (Don't have Dusty Durango? Then use Crushed Curry or Bermuda Bay.  All three In Colors will be retiring at the end of this month!).  Throw in a twist and use my color combo:  Dusty Durange, Soft Suede and So Saffron!

Cupcake

2.  Get your WHEELS turning!  Stampin' Around wheels that is!  Did you purchase the new Builder Wheels?  Haven't used them yet?  Is there dust build-up on your "old" wheels?  Whether new or old...dust off your wheels and take them out for a spin!

Box

NOTE:  Watch for Two Tags Box Video coming soon!
(Box inspired by fellow demonstrator Lisa Curcio)

3.  Button, Button, who's got the Button?  I fell in love with the new Bitty Buttons.  How about you?  If you have the new Bitty Buttons, use them on a card - don't hoard them.  If you don't have them, use any other Stampin' Up! button you have to add some fun and whimsy to your project!!

Flower-Pot2

NOTE:  Watch for Big Bold Cupcake Video Coming Soon (yes, the flower pot was made entirely from the Big Bold Cupcake Sizzix Dies!)

BIG SHOT: Pennant Die & Parisian Breeze Specialty DSP

I just love making these pouches with two of the large Pennant Die Cuts and Big Shot Die Cutting Machine!  Using the Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper (Buy 3 DSP and get one FREE) adds a vintage touch.  Add a small bouquet of flowers or a little box with jewelery and gift it to your mom for Mother's Day!

Pennant-Basket

Use the new Satin Ribbon from the Occasions Mini Catalog (you'll love the luxurious feel to this ribbon) and feed it through the Jumbo Eyelets.  Add one of the NEW Chocolate Chip Corduroy Buttons for a finishing touch.  Actually, it's a brad.  I just wrapped the brad prongs around the ribbon.

Technique Tuesday: Matchbox Die & Jumbo Grommet (Tutorials)

The last project we did for April's Technique Tuesday Class was with the Matchbox Die.  I received a similiar swap in my last Controlfreaks swap group.  I adapted it to the supplies I had on hand.

Box-closed

OK - so if you don't yet have the Matchbox Die from the Occasions Mini catalog (#114890, $42.95) - you'll want to get it!  And if you order it this month, you can choose an "Under $10" Item for free! AND get a free catalog if you order it online!  Woohoo!

How To:  Matchbox Die Assembly

For my "To Go" class packets - here's a couple of little tutorials on how to assemble your box and use the new Basic Jumbo Gromments  (also from the Occasions Mini Catalog #114348, $6.95 for 5 of four colors, total of 20).

Step #1:  Fold on all scored lines, then fold inward the "sides" as show in the photo.

Matchbox-1

Matchbox-2

Step #2:  Fold the "ends" to "wrap over" the preforated corners.  The very tips of the ends should be folded the opposite way.  These small "tabs" are what keeps the box together without adhesive.

Matchbox-3

Matchbox-4

Step #3:  Use Sticky Strip to adhere the cover together, then slide the box into it.

Matchbox-5

Box-open

How to:  Basic Jumbo Grommets

Step #1:  Press the grommet into the flower.  TIP:  Use the mat pack to protect your surface.

Flower-1

Step #2:  Turn over and hammer the "prongs" flat.  Use the mat pack again to protect your surface.

Flower-2

Step #3:  Thread both ribbon ends up through the center of the grommet and tie off.

Flower-3

Close-up

Enjoy your quick and EASY matchbox!

Supplies use:  Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Matchbox Die, Flower Embosslet, Parisian Breeze Designer Specialty Paper, Baja Breeze Cardstock, Sticky Strip, Basic Jumbo Grommet, Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Crafters Toolkit (for mat pack and hammer)

Envelope Scrapbook: Good Morning Sunshine DSP

As you can probably tell - Max (our grandson) is such a delight to us!  Who ever thought being a Grandmother would be sooo wonderful.  He's actually turning two this week!

For part of my Minneapolis Regional Presentation I showed additional envelope scrapbooks made with different size envelopes.  This one was made with Stampin' Up! Medium Square (5-1/2 x 5-1/2)envelopes for Max's 1st birthday and features the fun Good Morning Sunshine Designer Paper and Hooray Designer Hardware.

Coverb

M-Panelb

Tip for envelope inserts:  Be sure to size them at least 1/2" smaller than the envelope you're using.  This will make it easier to slide in and out,  without tearing your envelope.

A-Panelb

X-Panel

We taught him "SO BIG" months ago, but we got it on camera finally!  Perfect for his first birthday!

Fold-Out

Notice the Ribbon...I used it like a "belly band" (so it slips off).

I have one more to share for a Mother's Day theme, so watch for that.

Enjoy~Dawn O

DON'T FORGET...Today is the last day for Dawn's Anniversary Special.  Check it out HERE!
