Control Freaks Birthday Tour!

Welcome to the Control Freaks April 2013 Tour (officially starts April 20th, but should be live by 8:00pm central time April 19th- so be sure to stop back later to take the full tour). We are thrilled to have you join us today. Our tour features some of your favorite Control Freaks Stampers sharing projects made with Stampin' Up! products. Our theme for this month is: "Stampin' Up! Birthday Creations".   

Butterfly Birthday Ensemble 

I don't know about you, but...I just can't put Stampin' Up! Bitty Butterfly and Elegant Butterfly punches down.  I am so drawn to them and I find myself reaching for them on almost every project these days.  So instead of fighting it, I simply gave in (again!) and you get birthday butterflies!!

Ensemble includes:

• Butterfly Birthday card (4-1/4" x 5-1/2")
• Butterfly Birthday thank you (3"x3")
• Butterfly Boutique Box candy holder

I chose a soft color palette of retiring colors.  I think I'll miss Baja Breeze the most!

Both the birthday and thank you cards have a panel with lines scored on all 4 sides to give them a little texture interest.  

TIP: score with front side faced down on your scoring tool

 

Butterfly Boutique Box Candy Holder 

Boutique Boxes make for a great last minute candy holder.  You'll find them in the 2013 Spring Catalog.  They come already die cut - woohoo!.  Just punch-out, add Sticky Strip, fold and you're done!  

Well...add some cute decorations with Butterflies and Marina Mist 3/8" Striped Organdy Ribbon...then you're done!

TIP:  The box-top is actually folded backwards and stays in place with the ribbon.  Just slip in 2 candy bars (yes, two candy bars fit perfectly...gotta love that!) and your candy holder is ready to go.  

It could be a gift in itself or would make a great party favor too!

Transform Texture Embossing Folders into Stamps!

First off, I need to thank everyone for your wonderful feedback on my Sponged Frame Watercolor Winter Card.  I was overwhelmed by your kind words.  My readers are the best!!

So...if you liked that card, I think you'll like both of today's Watercolor Winter cards too.  They feature an out-of-the-box way of working with your Texture Impressions Embossing Folders.  Anyone can do it - even if you don't have a die cutting machine.

Yes - the background panel on these cards were stamped with the Lacy Brocade Texture Impressions Embossing Folder.  So cool and so easy!

Both of these cards have drawn alot of attention on my display boards at my classes lately.  So I thought I would share a Quick Tip Video on how to transform your Texture Impressions Embossing Folders into Stamps!

Embellished Events Wedding 3 Ways, Plus Lattice Bigz Die Trick Video

I've been playing around with the Embellished Events stamp set (found on pg 40 in the Stampin' Up! 2012-2013 Annual Catalog).  Let me tell you, this is a fabulous stamp set for both beginner and experienced stampers alike.  You'll enjoy 6 images and 5 greetings for events throughout the year.  Today's card is a wedding card with a Lattice Die Trick!

Plus - I couldn't decide which kind of card I wanted to make.  So I made two more, a quick and easy one, and a blinged up version!  See all three below.

While making today's cards, I noticed the pattern on the wedding bells (could be Christmas bells too).  The pattern resembles the Lattice Bigz Die.  I thought it would be nice to repeat the bell pattern on my card.  However, the Lattice Die only cuts two of the circle patterns and I wanted three repeating patterns.  I was able to figure it out and the short video below shows you how.
