Stamp That Tune

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge: Beach Boys & Loads of Love

Today's DOstampingSTARS Stamp That Tune Thursday Challenge (#SSC055) is the BEACH BOYS!  It's summertime and what says summer better than the Beach Boys.  Check out one of their popular tunes on YouTube to get you in the mood.

SSC055-Beach-Boys

We've been receiving questions about some of our challenges and what we're looking for.  The answer is...just have fun!  Really - whatever your interpretation of the inspiration photo is - that's what we're looking for.  For instance, for this week's challenge you can take inspiration from lots of different things:

1.  the Beach Boys themselves

2.  the Song Link

3.  the beach theme

4.  the yellow car

5.  the surf board

6.  the ocean

7.  the color scheme

Only your imagination is the limit!  We'd love to have you share your creations.  Make a card and leave a comment here with a link to it on your blog or online gallery!  Have fun!!

For my card, I took inspiration from the car and used Stampin' Up!'s Loads of Love & Accessories stamp sets.  Oh my...it's been ages since this stamp set has touched an inkpad.  It was fun using it and reminded me of when I first had to have it.  I'm glad it's still available for purchase in the new catalog too!!

#SSC047: Flower Fest w/Butterfly Punch

It's time again for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.  This week it's a "Stamp that Tune" challenge featuring a song by Heart:  Dog and Butterfly.  Use a dog &/or butterfly on your card.  Or listen to the song and get inspired!

SSC047-Dog-&-Butterfly

I decided to use a new stamp step from the 2011 Stampin' Up! Summer Mini catalog (pg20), called Flower Fest.  This great set features a variety of flowers and a butterfly that matches several Stampin' Up! punches.  (1-3/8" Circle, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle, Fancy Flwoer, 5-Petal Flower & Butterfly Punches)

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, butterfly punch, flower fest

These colors are a little bright for me.  But I had them out for another project I was working on, so I thought I would use them on this card too.

NOTE:  I used a sponge dauber to rub color onto the flowers.  This is called Burnishing.  It really helped to make the flowers pop.

DOstamperSTARS Challenge Thursday is here again!  This week it's a "Stamp That Tune" challenge with Kermit The Frog!  Whether you take inspriration from the album cover, the color green or Kermit The Frog himself...this challenge is a fun one all the way around!

SSC039-Kermit
Have a listen to "It's not easy being green": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIOiwg2iHio

I decided to go with the frog as my inspiration.  So, I pulled out a stamp set I haven't used in awhile:  Flower for All SeasonsDid you know...you can get this set free with a $50 or more order?  Yep - thanks right.  It's one of the optional choices Stampin' Up! gives you during Sale-a-Bration (found on the last page).

Here's a closer look:

SSC039-Flower-For-All-Seas2

Look close at the pattern paper?  Those strips of paper come from the Hostess Level One In Color Designer Series Paper Pack.  However, I used my Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write marker to color in the center of each of the flowers on the pattern paper...making it my own custom DSP!

This was a fun card to make.  So bright and cheery.  Hope it makes you smile!

SSC#035: Heart of Gold and Punch Bunch

It's another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge!  It's a Stamp That Tune Challenge...Heart of Gold by Neil Young.

SSC035-Heart-of-Gold Use hearts, gold or gold hearts on your project.  Or be inspired by the song on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fXaC07X5M8

Feel free to play along.  Make your card.  Just leave a comment with a link to your card.

SSC035-Punch-Bunch

When I saw this week's Song Title challenge, I certainly didn't think Sale-a-Bration's Punch Bunch stamp set.  In fact, I thought I would do some heat embossing.  But the owl was calling out to me (hoot hoot) and I just had to go with it.  So I ended up with a masculine "Heart of Gold" card.  Didn't he turn out cute?

Stamp That Tune SSC031: Blossom Petal Builder Punch

It's another Thursday Challenge and today it's a "Stamp That Tune" Challenge!

Be inspired by Marie Osmond's Paper Roses Album Cover.  Or listen to the song for inspiration.  Either way - join us by leaving a comment with a link to your Paper Roses creation!

SSC031-Paper-Rose

Here's my card...

stampin up, dostamping, dawn olchefske, demonstrator, easter, build a blossom, blossom builder punch

Isn't this gorgeous?!  If I do say so myself!

I was drawn to how the flowers "climbed" up the side of the album cover, so that's where I started.  Using the new Build-a-Blossom stamp set and matching Blossom Petal Builder Punch, I created three flowers stamping Regal Rose Ink on Pretty in Pink cardstock.  I sponged a little ink on the edges to make the flowers "pop" a little bit more.  Then finished the flowers off with a pearl jewel.

The Certainly Celery base is textured with the brand-new, absolutely-gorgeous, must-have
Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.   Then I added a little depth by sponging the raised edges with Old Olive Ink.
